My Mother was a patient of Tamarac Rehab which is owned and operated by the same corporation as Springtee Rehab, Nuvision Management of Fort Lauderdale Fl. Three years ago my Mother was in the Tamarac facility and left with a balance of under $ 300.00 unbeknownst to anyone, in they were sending the invoice to an incorrect address. When she needed care again for a broken hip she was refused admittance until the bill was paid in full. I understood in that they are there to make money. Once again she needed care for yet another fracture, and was refused a bed a Springtree due to the same $ 300.00 which I had paid two years prior. Once I had found the cancelled check and made our way to speak to a VERYRUDE Vivian Curtis who is the admitting person a Springtree Rehab, I was then told they would not have a bed for one or two days. I really wanted her admitted since the hospital(Western Regional) had to discharge her on a late Friday afternoon, and I thought Springtree rehab, is right next to her home Emeritus at Springtree a wonderful ALS, so her care takers could visit her. I called a Keith Kruger an executive of Nuvision to tell him of my problem. He was most kind and polite, and told me that he would speak to Vivian Logan the Director of Springtee and I should call her back. When I did I was told that they really did not have a bed for what she called«A CONFUSEDPERSON»! She was as rude as her assistant. I then called back to Tamarac out of total desperation, where they agreed to take her, however once again the MONEY was the only interest. I was told that I would need to pay $ 800.00 in advance. which is what the insurance company was not paying due to her deduct able. It was Friday late afternoon and my my Mothers friend who helps to write checks and take care of her financial needs, did not have the money in her account. I stated that I could wire the money but it would not be their until Monday or we could give them my Mother’s check however it to would not be able to be cashed until Monday when I transferred the funds. Again they refused… cash up front only! Please keep in mind that I live in the West Coast and was unable to be there at the time. What a deplorable disgrace these people are. I only hope that the people that I had this most disgraceful and repugnant actions with enjoy the same treatment for their parents or loved ones. The lack of humanity is appalling and I would imagine would speak for their care.

The staff members are not attentive at all. Although the patient is behaving abnormal ‘medically’(not herself); the patient call button rings incessantly at the front nurses station but they seem to pay no attention. The auxiliary staff seems to be under pressure to get alot done in little time and therefore don’t pay much attention to the patient. For instance the food server puts the food and runs out not even helping a blind patient to locate or unwrap the food. But even if it’s not the food server’s job to help a patient, there is no staff person to check on the patient for an hour or more. I don’t think it’s that hard to peek in on each patient and ask if «are you ok?» The place didn’t smell while I was there, and there was an adequate number of personel on duty, it leads me to believe they’re just not doing their job and that’s a failure of management. On the positive side, I thought physical therapy was adequate.
