The Honey Chicken Tender Bowl for brunch was so, so yummy and filling. Standard American diner food.

I went there for breakfast one Sunday and the food was pretty good. Next to a gas station, you may not give it a second thought, but it’s pretty damn good. The portions are alright for what you’re paying, cheap as heck! The parking is a bit of a hassle but meh, you deal. I got the breakfast bowl and a pancake. The gravy was sublime, the potatoes really good, and the bacon was something else. The pancake was fluffy but not my favorite. All in all, good flavor, weird location, ok parking. Give it a try!

I give it a C+ the seats and booths could be better. Service was pretty good. Food was good, lots of sandwich and breakfast options. I ended up ordering a deliciously greasy chicken sandwich. It’s a diner, nothing more nothing less. Good place decent food good portions. Things that need improvement are the seats and area, also the manager who was seated in the middle of the restaurant rolling silverware(usually done in back of house), she was barking orders at the staff. It was rather disruptive and unprofessional, but maybe that’s part of their diner feel… I will probably return but it’s not a places I crave, better options are maple street or canopy road.

This restaurant is the best in the world to me. I was skeptical at first with it being attached to a gas station, but those are always the biggest surprises! I get the woodchuck special when I go and their corned beef hash, which is so good! I still haven’t tried lunch items because their breakfast is just too good. The hashbrowns are sliced thin and cooked with herbs and seasonings just like my grandmother use to make me. They also sell homemade cupcakes. My favorite is the marshmallow, brownie, cookie cupcake that I don’t even know what it’s called! Also, their prices are so cheap! I took my parents here when they were in town and they trust my food choices in Tallahassee that they didn’t even blink an eye. They also fell in love. Everyone that visits from out of town gets to experience this beautiful place. They do get really busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait!

Just an absolutely great local gem. An incredibly diverse menu for such a small place and everything we’ve tried has been really good: burgers, meatloaf, chicken … Service is friendly as well.

I used to live within walking distance of Woodchucks and would give my left hand(not the whole arm, but still) to have discovered it sooner. Really solid and typical breakfast menu with a twist. Nice selection of vegetarian and vegan options, which is a delight, since in most breakfast places that are not specifically vegan do not have much I can eat. My last visit there, I began my customary ordering of sides when the very friendly and helpful server pointed out the tofu scramble, which I ordered and enjoyed. I have also had their buffalo tofu sandwich, which is pretty good. Great selection of pastries and decent selection of beer. Staff is some of the best in town, in my opinion. All in all, not the absolute best meals of my life, but the quality and variety of food and great staff keep me coming back!

Great smothered chicken. The potatoes salad was very bland, they should add the bacon ranch mayo to that. The mimosas were not good. My friend refered to as tasting like airborne but it’s understandable, it’s a dive restaurant. I should have gotten a cupcake… they looked so good!

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! Found this little gem in Tallahassee as we were driving through. Absolutely delicious house made«loaded» potato salad and cole slaw. The hamburger was very tasty, as well as the chicken philly pita … and the portions are very generous. Don’t pass this one by!

Sunday was one of those days I’m happy I lurk around Unilocal because, I would not have found this place without it. It’s off the beaten path but once found it can’t be missed. A bright green storefront next to a gas station, Woodchuck’s Café was such a delight from start to finish. Looking over the menu I, at first, had a hard time deciding what I wanted. So many options and everything looked great but when the waitress told us the specials it was easy. I got the Pulled Pork Biscuit with Carolina BBQ sauce and a side of sage potatoes. I also got 1 sweet potato pancake on the side because, I always need a little sweetness and the prices were so reasonable. Wow wow wow it was amazing! The pulled pork was tender and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. My friend got the strawberry glazed french toast and they said it was also delicious. Overall this place is great. Would eat again. I really love that they are taking breakfast classics and mixing it up. It really works for them and doesn’t come off as over the top. I can’t wait to come back!

This is everything you never thought it would be. I would never care for this gas station stop if it wasn’t for the glorious honey chicken tender bowl that Woodchuck serves. They don’t necessarily look to have the best presentation, but you won’t give a damn once you get a taste. I’ve only been here for breakfast, but I’ve heard they have a fantastic burger and I’m excited to try it!

I thought that I would never eat at a restaurant next to a gas station, until I was asked too… I prejudged this place for months. The atmosphere was friendly and clean. I asked the waitress what was good and received options, even the customers next to me were telling me what to order. The food was great. I will be back, often.

We’ve found our new go-to place for breakfast! If you’ve read other reviews, you already know that the Woodchuck is located at a gas station. Not the type of place most people would stop. But because you are a Unilocaler, you aren’t like like most people and you, intrepid eater, should absolutely stop here. The décor is diner. The service is diner. The food is diner. The price is diner. For those who don’t frequent diners, this means: good food in a comfortable environment with friendly service at a reasonable price. The omlettes are quite good and made with fresh ingredients(and they aren’t skimpy with the quantity). And they use caramelized onions in the omelettes, a nice touch. The grits were so-so and needed a lot of salt. The pancake is of the sweet variety, and thankfully does not come dusted with powdered sugar(but I’m sure they’ll oblige if that’s your style). The biscuit was also so-so, and the only real flavor we could taste in the gravy was black pepper. But the potatoes are fantastic. Super thin slices of potato are deep fried then stacked and mixed with onions on a flat top where the outside gets crispy, and the inside creamy. Yummy. One quibble: by default they bring to the table packets of a cheap vegetable oil spread rather than butter. But they’ll bring butter if you ask. And the jelly packets are also a cheap no-name variety. We’ve been looking for a diner-type place for breakfast, and we’ve found it. Oh: their burgers are also fantastic. But that’s better left for another review.

This just got five-starred. A perfect trifecta of service, fare and environs. While it’s not at the top of TLH’s few 5-star breakfast joints, it’s certainly inner circle material. Service: swift and friendly. Our server today was on top of her game and helped the table make decisions(namely fillings in the pancakes). Additionally, this place is consistently immaculate. Fare: what’s not five-star about ribeye(medium rare), sunny side ups, cheese grits and rye? The other stuff on the table appears good as well — whatever, it’s not what I ordered so I pay no mind… ;). Coffee is refilled as needed, and is hot and well brewed. Not aging in a community pot. Environs: What a stroke of literary genius — providing top-shelf breakfast/lunch fare in a true & modern-day roadside setting. Let’s call it a Roadside Inn. I thoroughly enjoy watching the automobiles pull in for their 87,89 or 93 octane. There’s something exceptionally satisfying about sitting at my table and watching someone frantically pumping gasoline on their way to where they’re destined. I can’t think of a truer roadside diner than Woodchuck’s.

My dad and I were looking for a new place to eat so I opened my Unilocal app, used the location feature for restaurants and Woodchuck’s café was first on the list. I have driven past this place numerous times and never considered stopping until I started reading recommended revues from fellow Unilocalers who I know don’t play when it comes to good restaurants. It was 12:10pm and a breakfast special was still available. A mother with two kids were having hot pancakes at the bar. The syrup glazed golden brown pancakes covered the whole plate and looked so good I was tempted to order some for myself.(I’ll be back, and next time those pancakes will be mine,(evil laugh) hahahaha!) I ordered the smothered chicken sandwich, a side of potato salad(because of a tip) and water. I was pleasantly surprised with the large, well seasoned, delicious sandwich and very pleased that a place still cares about good, fresh, tasty sides. Dad ordered a hamburger and said he throughly enjoyed it. Looks as if Woodchuck’s now have a couple of new regulars… P. S. a lot of the tables were filled with local electricians, plumbers and city of Tallahassee workers so you know this is a place where the locals eat.

I had read about this place on Unilocal, but never visited because it’s attached to a gas station. Boy, was I wrong to not try it out earlier! The food is great, cooked to order, and fresh. The place is clean and when I checked it out on a Sunday after church it was buzzing with people. I ordered a breakfast pita pocket, which was great. It was the special, so I don’t know that they have it all the time. My only complaints – which are really minor given how good the place is – are that parking could be problematic when busy and that they serve coffee with faux creamer instead of proper half-and-half. In short, I would say this is the best diner in Tallahassee.

I was in an adventurous mood while looking for a fun restaurant to meet my friends at and I ended up finding woodchuck’s. I was a little wary about the location, with it being stuck into a gas station, but I am so glad I decided to check it out. All of my friends enjoyed it. The food there is great and the customer service is wonderful! I would suggest the club deluxe with potato salad. They seriously have the best potato salad ever. I visit regularly now!

My wife and I are big fans of this place. We live right down the road. We were a bit apprehensive when we saw that it was right next to a gas station but we tried it anyway. Their breakfast is incredible. I haven’t gotten much else besides the breakfast bowl, but the breakfast bowl is all you really need. It is a layered pie of sorts with potatoes, eggs, sausage, bacon or fried chicken, chopped up biscuits, and gravy. It’s delicious. I haven’t been that impressed with their burgers though. We only ever go here for breakfast. Money is really the only reason I don’t eat breakfast there every day. The service is always great. It is a small place that makes you feel very welcome. Everyone there is friendly and kind.

I was searching out a good breakfast place. Well the search continues. This one was well let’s just say lacking. The service was terrible from start to finish. I arrived about 10 minutes before the opening so I knew what I wanted soon as I sat down. My server came and got my order and gave me my check. That was it. Another girl delivered my food. The cooks were way more interested with the TV in the kitchen then cooking my breakfast. Jumping up and down and high fiving each other over a basketball score. My meal was a western omelet with meat inside. I even found a chunk or two while eating. It was more like an caramelized onion omelet then a western omelet. So I might eat here again if they move like right next door to my job. If not then I will keep searching. I miss The Bluegrass Grille.

Woodchucks is consistently good. We’ve only come for breakfast, & it’s great to have an option like this on the NW side of town. Waitresses are always on point even when it’s slammed in there. And where else can you have breakfast for two plus drinks for less than $ 17? Make sure you get the breakfast potatoes.

The little café attached to a gas station on Tharpe Street is the place I miss the most from my former bungalow. It’s one of the definitive chow down spots in town. From greasy spoon breakfast plates to behemoth burgers, Woodchuck’s is an amusing surprise and a steal of a deal. The space has a few booths, a few tables and seating at the counter. Each cup of Joe is served in a unique mug, like a cartoon cat or a skeleton playing guitar. On the walls you’ll find small artwork, I believe there’s a Hendrix picture by one of the booths. Usually, a FSU sporting event is on one of the two flat screens. This place screams diner flare. You will always find regulars, cheap grub and excellent service. The menu consists of breakfast standards or sandwiches/burgers. Occasionally they’ll have dinner specials like a shepherds pie, which is a taste of old-fashioned comfort food. And let me tell you, the meals here are large and in charge. Most likely you’ll have to take home leftovers. I recommend an omelette for breakfast and a stuffed burger for lunch/dinner/linner/dunch/whatever you fancy. Parking is limited, but the majority of the time you’ll find a space or grassy patch to park the car. There’s a menu board outside the front door with the breakfast special or lunch special of the day. You pay at the counter after your meal, which turns out to be the moment when you’re finally exposed to the cupcake case. Delicious, homemade, succulent treats luring you in, tempting your taste buds, and calling your name. These cupcakes are legit. You have to buy a red velvet cupcake. You one thousand percent have to. Honestly, this is one of those joints you would find on a television program. A breakfast/burger joint pumping out ridiculous eats attached to a gas station? Somebody call Guy Fieri stat, because Woodchuck’s is «off the hook.»
