The Nail Bar

I got a basic manicure while I was here. I was satisfied with the work but I would prefer a better ambiance. I felt rushed or like I was part of an assembly line. I thought that they would serve alcohol with my service but I wasn’t offered any and there were no menus in sight. I’m not sure there is even wine available at all so the «bar» label might be a bit misleading. Overall, decent service but I don’t think I’ll go back any time soon.

Last night I went to The Nail Bar for a mani, pedi, and a glass of wine. The wine was delicious, and the pedicure was wonderful. The manicure, however, leaves much to be desired. My appointment was at 7pm last night, and my nails are already chipping (it’s currently 4pm). When I got home, I inspected my nails more closely and there were «dings» that had dried that my manicurist should have caught. Luckily I had purchased a Living Social deal and paid less than I would have, had I gone there and paid full price. The concept is nice, the furnishings are fine and all, but I do not believe they are worth the expensive prices. A manicure should not begin chipping the very next day –especially in less than 24 hours — when the appointment was just the evening before.
Go to Tal Nails in the Tallahassee Mall instead. Seriously. Get your nails done there, and then go home and drink wine. :)

After researching nail salons that offer gel nails as opposed to acrylics, I called The Nail Bar to confirm they offered the service, NOT gel nail polish. The employee who answered said, «Yes,» so I scheduled an appointment for later that day.
Upon meeting with the technician, she had no clue what I was talking about and assumed I meant acrylic nails with a gel polish. She even pulled a pamphlet for one of their new services which had a comparison of the new service to acrylic and gel nails, but still didn’t really understand what I was asking for. After five minutes going back and forth, she said, «Yes, I will give you gel acrylic nails.» I was skeptical, but needed my nails done, so I caved and let her start working on my nails, hoping she was doing the correct service. After she buffed my nails and started applying a powder substance, I knew she was applying acrylics and completely disregarded what I was asking for, but it was too late. In addition to not providing the service I requested, the nail technician hurt me repeatedly with the dremel tool when buffing my nails. Halfway through the service her next appointment showed up, and she proceeded to rush through my service so she could get to her regular. By the end of it my nails looked terrible and I removed the acrylics immediately after I got home.
While my services was not what I hoped, I feel the need to also mention the service provided to my nail technician’s «regular» who arrived in the middle of my appointment. While my nails were drying, the technician removed her polish, checked the status of the client’s acrylic nails, and found BLACK substance underneath multiple nails. The technician ripped off each acrylic nail (not soaking like you are supposed to do) to check the status of each nail. My nails had just about finished drying by this point, but it looked like the technician was going to reapply acrylics to the nails with issues. GROSS!

This place is a cool concept. Nail Salon+Bar. The problem is that its not a good manicure. I had an Axxium gel manicure there which is supposed to last at the very least a week and it started peeling in about 2 days. My sister had the same problem. I also got my eyebrows waxed and the lady BUTCHERED them. I have a good shape with my brown and all I needed was a little clean up and she completely changed the shape of my brow and it looked awful. The weirdest bit was a different lady did my brows from my nails and when the lady who did my nails found out someone did my brows she walked up to me, grabbed my arm, and wanted to know why I didnt tell her I had my eyebrows done. It was just weird. Probably wont go back.
