Honestly the coolest place we have been in Tally. The food was unreal and the atmosphere was just amazing! What a good local place to support! I had the meatball sub and the man knows what he is doing when it comes to meatballs. Seriously you need to check it out!

Fantastic. The beer, the brats, all of the sides — I always eat here when I come to first Friday or third Saturday. I don’t even like sausages or Mac and cheese, but this place does both amazingly.

The sausages here put the sausages, hot dogs and whatnot in the rest of Tallahassee to shame. Seriously. As others have mentioned, they’re massive and mouth-wateringly delicious. The place itself is a trip, since the kitchen’s in a former railcar, and the guy who runs the place and mans the cramped kitchen is one friendly and funny dude. So do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won’t regret it.

I went there yesterday and the food was delicious. That sausage sandwich hit the spot. The coleslaw on top really gave a nice flavor to the combination. The location has some cool things like the murals and whatnot. The owner seems like a chill guy. But the food man, the food. So good. So good. I gotta go back for the special sausage!

Stellar. They didn’t have any specialty sausage in, but with this being my first time, I was going to try their original. I got it with slaw on top. Dang, it was delicious! I make my own sausages, so I know a thing or two about the process, and these are the best I have had in a restaurant. A really fantastic sausage. The bun, another important part of the product was superb. I wonder where they get them from. Such a great compliment to the sausages! The place was small and quaint, with a load of outside seating. I will definitely be back to enjoy all they make!

The sausages here are literally bigger than your head! And they are so damn tasty, too! Came here during first Friday and ordered the special jalapeño sausage topped with sauerkraut and coleslaw and a side of cucumber salad. When my sausage came, I was floored. Man, it was as big as a baby’s arm. No joke! I deff got my money’s worth. My jalapeño sausage was prepared really well. Meat was juicy and flavorful. I wish it was more spicy tho. I don’t usually like coleslaw that much. But the coleslaw here is one of the freshest and tastiest I’ve had. The cucumber salad is a winner. The flavor is off the chart with garlic, vinegar, and some other spices. It’s almost good as my dad’s homemade cucumber salad. A must side order. I attacked my sausage persistently and actually finished up this monster. My friend was deff impressed. In sum, the crum box is a quirky little local spot that cooks up some excellent sausages. It’s pretty easy to find as the eatery is shaped like a train box car with outdoor picnic tables. They also have live music from time to time. I really like the vibe and the food here. I think you will too!

Stopped by this place during First Friday. I heard great things about this place so I was pumped to stop by. The place is cozy. And I mean VERY cozy. Tight quarters on a First Friday. Naturally, we ordered the sausage dog. Pulled high with sauerkraut and mustard, this dog was delicious! The only downside, the sausage was extremely salty. I’m assuming it was just this sausage and not the norm for all of their food. Besides that, it was great. Good enough that I’d like to go again and try the same thing. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by! It will be worth it.

I discovered The Crum Box for lunch when there are no crowds. The place is virtually empty on a weekday which enables a customer to see how, for an old caboose kitchen with a small dining space bolted onto it, the owner keeps the place clean and interesting with some eclectic art work. The house made sausages are cooked to order at lunch time so ordering ahead is advised. They are delicious, generous and paired nicely with a crusty roll, sauerkraut, and homemade cucumber salad. The chef/owner is friendly and attentive.

What a fantastic find in Tallahassee. The sausage was delicious and served on a great roll with delicious goodies on top. Great Mac and cheese and cucumber salad as sides. FATTIRE in house, my absolute favorite beer. Talked to the owner Pete who explained to me all about this old railroad area that has become this wonderful artsy area with funky shops smack in the middle of the two Universities in Tallahassee. First Friday’s attract thousands of people with 10 live bands and food trucks and lots of fun. Check it out FANTASTIC

I normally would take a photo of the food before I posted on Unilocal but I was too busy eating! The veggie burger was awesome! Got it with grilled onion, lettuce and sauerkraut– get the sauerkraut– it was great. When the staff asked me how everything was I had to post a thumbs up because my mouth was full. My boyfriend got the pulled pork special and loved it as well. With the multiple beer options, good food, and awesome and friendly staff you can’t go wrong. Go!

Get your mouth around some of this sausage! Their homemade sausage is simply incredible and the owners are always great to chat with. Whether you like it spicy or mild, they consistently put out delicious food. I only ever get their original sausage with homemade macaroni and cheese with sauerkraut on the side. Why change a good thing? I could not recommend this place more for a night out in Railroad Square!

A big bravo to the two friends that opened up this gem for us. It’s been many«First Friday’s» since I last came to railroad square so this was our first time here — incidentally, in the last Friday in October 2015. Four of us ordered three Punk & Guts and one Italian meatball sub.(Turns out that«punk & guts» is hobo-speak for«sausage & bread», and«crumbox for caboose, which this is). Great sausage! He doesn’t yet sell it yet — but he ought to, because it will give Bradley’s a run for the money! This is a sausage place — so expect to eat sausage when here. Also, expect great Coleslaw and a most triumphant cucumber salad. Really. Quite good. Outdoor dining is the name of the game here — there is a cozy interior bar and dining area, but the outside is the way to go here — and it’s covered against the elements. This merits the trip to railroad square. Seriously.

The Crum Box is located in Rail Road Square. The space is so cute and great if you’re looking to grab a bite to eat and sit outside. This place makes their own sausages which are delicious and a very good portion. The menu isn’t full of frills and is very straightforward which can be refreshing. You know this place really knows what their doing and are offering you their best. I promise you will walk away fat and happy when you eat here!

Really cool little spot! The owner is super nice. We called ahead to ask if they were open. They were about to close but he kept it open for us to have dinner. I had the original sausage with cheese and sauerkraut and it was fantastic.

There aren’t many places like The Crum Box. The space itself is tight, even more so for those working behind the counter. An almost 90 degree staircase separates the bar from the kitchen. The inside resembles the«Crum Box» and what’s outside mirrors the«Gastgarden.» Outside, you’ll discover ample picnic tables and a formidable stage. Let’s talk turkey — in this case housemade sausage. As the self-proclaimed«sausage kings of Tallahassee,» I must say they can back up their declaration. The spicy, jalepeno onion sausage was incredible. The meat was tender, yet possessed that snap you expect from the exterior. Two toppings are included. I decided on shredded cheddar and sweated onions. I topped the mammoth sandwich with spicy brown mustard. Man, oh man, it was a homerun. If you like spicy, this dog will have your tail wagging! The beer selection is diverse and relatively inexpensive. 16oz cans range from $ 2 to $ 3. But you’ll also discover Terrapin, Fat Tire and other unique offerings. This isn’t a cocktail bar, but I believe you can order wine if that floats your boat. The atmosphere enlightens your senses and maintains a strong sense of community. The Crum Box welcomes groups and gatherings. Great, local bands hit the stage weekly. Enjoy the laid back vibe, feast on homegrown eats and savor the local flavor. The Railroad Square abode resonates with all kinds. A Tallahassee original all on its own.

I have to update my review! The meat is still delicious! Their menu clearly describes the dishes and when I requested mine without as much spice they tried to accommodate me as much as possible(the meat was preseasoned) and it showed. This time I enjoyed my meal much more due to the reduced spice amount. We LOVED it. My food was brought by a lovely, friendly waitress. If you come to First Friday, try to seat at the back! The lovely patio hosts live music which is a joy to listen to while eating nice warm food.(I love the food gets to you warm!) Their portions are huge, the owner/chef is still very nice to his patrons. Check them out!

The friendly owners of the Crum Box consider themselves«The Sausage Kings of Tallahassee»; I think it would be safe to expand that title to «The Sausage Kings of Florida»(at the very least). The Crum Box is located in the corner of Railroad Square where they serve up handmade sausages that are grinded and filled in-house. You can either sit inside at their bar and enjoy some great conversation with the owners or outdoors at one of the many picnic tables. They have a very simple menu with two variations of their sausage, the original and a specialty(which very often changes), as well as some sandwiches including a meatball sub and veggie burger. They also have a great beer selection and sunday brunch specials. I tried the original sausage with sauerkraut and relish and it was FOODGASMIC! I truly hesitated to add any condiments, worried they might diminish the incredible flavor of the sausage. The portion was gigantic as well. It came with a side of mac & cheese which was quite delicious too. I will definitely be back to explore the menu and if YOU are even considering trying The Crum Box(which you must be if you’re actually reading this review), stop reading and GO!

Great food. Simple menu(there are three things: two types of sausage, a pork sandwich, and a veggie burger…). They have great beers and live music. Definitely give it a shot!
