Based on the sole fact alone that Florida State has its own campus movie theater is pretty remarkable in itself. As an undergrad, I came here ATLEAST once a week. All students are granted free entry. Although, I’m no longer a student, I still find myself visiting the SLC when they screen classic films. For non-students, tickets are a mere $ 3. If you’re lucky, you’ll pop in on $ 1 popcorn night!(Tuesday I believe, but don’t quote me on that). Housing over 300 seats, you’ll be bound to have a good view from all areas of the theater. They screen classics, limited releases and blockbusters. If you’ve never been to the SLC, it’s a venue worth checking out!

I love this place. If anything is one of my top 3 favorite FSU things. Free movie for FSU students, and $ 3 Dollars for old FSU students with their IDs. The concessions are small with the expected upcharge. There is a soda machine and very salty popcorn, but they do not mind you going in with outside food since profit is not their goal. You can also grab a coffee or an Italian soda at the Grindhouse Café that is directly across the SLC. They also have pastries and other things they can warm up for you. My favorite part is that you can come to watch a movie, and while you wait you can play some games on Steam or some League because they have very decent alienware gaming rigs you can use. You can also borrow a board game or a console system. They have Xbox Ones, PS4, PS3, Ps2., PS, Atari, Game Cube, N64, Wii.etc. They have a healthy variety of games and impromptu Smash competitions are not unheard of: p There is a stage where sometimes there is karaōke, game nights, and gaming competition. There is also frequent advance screenings of movies that won’t come out in months, and those come with freebies and/or cool presentations by people involved in the films. This theater plays movies that are popular and movies that are not widely available. I’ve seen some of my favorite independent films here! Any student can suggest the movies, and different organizations can suggest theirs, sop there is an interesting variety. They usually play two movies, about 3 times per day. and 1 movie during the Summer. :d I think its a nice part of the Seminole experience as there is not that much to do in campus.

FSU’s very own cinema holds almost 400 people in a stadium style theatre. They show movies almost every night of the week. It’s worth nothing that the SLC is a second-run theatre, so the movies aren’t current, but rather a few months old at the newest. Mid-week shows are typically indie or foreign, while blockbuster movies light up the screen on weekends. There is also a very healthy Midnight Movie series that shows all sorts of cult classics and 80s favorites. The concessions are priced very well compared to competitors, and movies are free for FSU students($ 4 to everybody else). Just be sure to get there early for the big shows, as the theatre is known to sell out quite often.
