Came here for a grandaughter’s 17th birthday. What a disappointment! Food was only average and very expensive. Portion size very small. I paid $ 350 for 7 people and when we got home we were still hungry. Would not go back.

Even though the place was packed with a private event, three of us sat at the bar for lunch and had excellent service and delicious food. I recommend the steak salad, it was incredibly filling, especially when followed closely behind the special squash curry soup. Outstanding. I took a bite of my companion’s trout and it was delicious. Our other guest completely finished her salmon salad. Very fair pricing for such generous and fresh food.

Did I miss something? What went wrong here? On a Sunday Brunch my friend and I came here to try this place before walking around the gardens. Sage is a cozy and fancy kind of spot that is cute for a date. They have daily specials and unique styles of classic breakfast entrees. I had no clue what to order so I started with a Gumbo for the Creative Soup of the day. Boy oh boy how disappointed I was. It tasted more like a purée of gumbo that ended up more like a pea soup. Majorly disappointed that I had to turn it back. Sorry. I also had the Tempura Fried Gulf Coast Oysters. Now this was definitely brilliant and yummy. The mixture of the kimchee, sriracha and spicy soy chili mignonette was divine. I want this sauce bottled and to be added to all my Asian influenced dishes. Since I was still hungry I also ordered the deviled eggs-three ways. The creative toppings were duck confit, some cream cheese mixture, and a shiitake mushroom mix. The mushrooms were hands down my favorite. My friend ordered the eggs hussarde, but he said it was a bit plain. We did not have any of the libations, but instead some High Tea. A simple green tea and a chamomile were nice for relaxing. Overall the staff was kind of mixed for service with the exception of our actual waiter. He was very understanding and was patient in helping us out. Prices are actually decent for this fancy type of place as well. I just felt like the hype is over the top, and I was left hungry and disappointed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing or maybe this place is better for dinner.

Stopped on a date whim on a road trip and grabbed a quick lunch. The crab cakes were amazing, probably the best ones I have had in a long time! Wish I could have tried more things. Cocktail menu was unique what I had was very tasty

What a wonderful oasis of culinary delight in a food desert city! From the prompt, friendly and professional service to the exquisitely prepared ingredients, Sage is perfection from beginning to end. Our dinner salad special– cucumbers and potatoes with an olive and preserved lemon vinaigrette was a lovely Moroccan-inspired start to our dinners– perfectly cooked medium rare lamb chops done with Persian notes of pomegranate and a shirazi salad and monkfish wrapped in bacon with a crab and pecan relish and dreamy grits custard. Plating is thoughtful and gorgeous, portions are generous, and flavors are balanced and bright. My only complaint is the noise level of the dining room– by the time we left around 9 we had to practically shout to hear each other across the table. Perhaps some strategically placed acoustic tiles could keep the din to a lower roar?

Took a group of four for lunch yesterday. Three of us ordered the onion soup. The server came back after ordering they had no cheese and that we needed to select something else. Seems he should have known that when we sat down. Then ordered the steak medium and it came cooler than medium rare and had to be sent back. The waiter did not take the entire plate but asked us the remove the steak and put it on another plate so they could heat it more. Never heard of such a thing. No desire to return(:

After visiting this restaurant over the past few years for brunch, lunch or dinner we have never had a bad app, drink or meal. The attention to detail and service are second to none. For dinner, we recommend the filet or house made pasta w/scallops & shrimp. For brunch the eggs husarde & house made Bloody Mary is never a bad option. For appetizers we recommend the oysters, BBQ shrimp w/slaw and crab cakes(always delicious). Every once in awhile they will have a clam appetizer with a white wine base, do not pass it up. Get some extra bread for dipping in the extra sauce. Enjoy :)

I have been to Sage several times for dinner but today my husband and I went for Sunday brunch and OMG was it wonderful!!! The weather was nice and cool so we opted to sit outside where the birds were chirping and the water feature was bubbling. We enjoyed coffee with baileys while we awaited our tasty brunch of Eggs Hussarde and the omelet of the day. For those of you wondering what Eggs Hussarde is(like I did), the waiter explained that it is a creole twist to Eggs Benedict with a roasted tomato sauce along with the hollandaise, roasted tomato and ham. I was also told that it is the #1 brunch dish in Florida and after eating it I can understand why! Our waiter was on top of things and we never ran out of coffee or water. We will be back soon for Sunday Brunch and dinner!!!

I had such a pleasant experience here and would totally come back. A friend and I came to Sage for lunch this week since I had never been and it’s one of his favorite places in town. I had heard so many good things about Sage so I was really excited to eat there! The menu at Sage changes every day, so you can try a lot of different items if you go frequently. I love rotating menus because they always keep you guessing and it’s a very fresh concept. My friend and I started with the sweet potato bisque. This soup was delicious! I guess the soup also changes every day. Anyway, the sweet potato soup was thick and creamy, and had a little spice. It was one of the best soups I have ever had. Not too heavy but definitely rich and full of flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the salmon with extra vegetables. The vegetables were cooked to perfection — drizzled with a little tomato vinaigrette, they had plenty of flavor that would make even a vegetable hater fall in love. The salmon was a decent portion and was seasoned perfectly. I love salmon and would totally come back to eat their salmon. My friend ordered the steak frites and let me try some of it. It was EXCELLENT and I would definitely order that the next time I come in. The mushrooms and cheese on top of the steak frites were so crazy full of decadent flavor and the steak was cooked perfectly, like a nice medium. I was pretty full after eating here, so I didn’t get to try any of the desserts, but the menu looked really diverse. I think there’s something for everybody here. The quiche seemed to be quite popular as many people at other tables had ordered it. It was also huge! Maybe the largest slices of quiche I’ve ever seen. Definitely one of Tallahassee’s best! I am glad I came in to eat here!

This restaurant impressed me not only the tasty food but also the excellent service. it was one of the best service I had ever experienced. We had soup of the day-shrimp corn bisque. It was flavorful with hint of spiciness. The steak frite I ordered was a 6 oz grill sirloin, toped with pomme frites, marinated shiitakes, arugula, in a red wine reduction. The other dish the Carolina river trout was also outstanding. This is my favorite restaurant in Tallahassee.

Sage is a great restaurant for a special occasion. My husband and I went for Valentine’s Day last year and everything was exceptional. Their menu tends to change monthly and seasonally, but everything is prepared carefully and artfully, with excellent service. The service is not super fast, but we didn’t mind as we didn’t go because we were starving, more to enjoy each other’s company and sip some wine. Definitely a place that you’ll want to make reservations for, and not somewhere you’d want to go if you’re starved and want to get it and get out. Take the time to appreciate the artsy inspired plates and friendly service.

Very dissapointing meal at Sage tonight. The pasta was cold and stuck together, as if pre made vs. Cooked opon ordering. The shrimp were tough and the scollops were over cooked! The waiter started out nice but became curt and rude when an order was taken incorrectly for another guest entre. I will not recommend or return to Sage again.

Well this place was recommended by a friend and we were excited! But after waiting 45 minutes for our meal and mine was extremely hot and my husbands was just luke warm I have to say that we are completely disappointed. For the price point this restaurant needs to do much better

Since I’ve had nothing but wonderful meals here there is no need to be specific about each meal I’ve eaten. All are prepared artfully and professionally. The most recent dinner though was made one notch better by the service provided by Caitlin. The best waitress or waiter I’ve had in years. She will be requested on our next visit. A strong recommendation from a former waiter.

Sage was really good. Friendly service nice seating outside and good food. I would recommend calling ahead if you are planning on visiting. This place host your«older» crowd not a hipster joint and only have wine and pop.

At a restaurant where you’re asked if you have lunch reservations when you arrive at a generally blue-haired time slot(11:25), you quickly realize it’s the sort of restaurant that requires reservations for those who wish to show up at more desirable times(e.g., 12:30 — 1:30). Sage has a fantastic yet abbreviated menu focused on high-impact dishes. No option comes across as milquetoast. In fact, the opposite is true. Dishes present their credentials(on paper) as conquerors of gastronomic campaigns — culinary warriors returning from fantastic adventures in kitchens and dining tables of the most sought-after sort. Enough of my poor prose — on with the opining! Ordered the Steak Frites — rare. I suspect it was either hanger steak or perhaps even flap steak. Tremendous flavor. sauce lightly dabbed on top, arugula wilted beneath and«a tangle» of French fried pertaters. Best Steak Frites I’ve had outside of The Hexagon! Dad had the shrimp/andouille/coarse grits which he very much enjoyed. Sage offers a level of cuisine that holds its own against any 4-star/4-diamond restaurant I’ve ever known — possibly even some 5/5s too!

I have been to this restaurant many time. This is my first time for dinner. This restaurant is one my favor of the heart. At lunch time they are very busy and need to call ahead for reservation. The food is elegant and touch of creative taste. They have vegan selection. They also have outside sitting. To begin tonight, I begin with a butter squash soup top with goat cheese and touch chimichurri. They grounded the butter squash to liquid base and good for spoon feed. I just enjoy dipping with bread into soup. My main course is a duck breast top with quail in orange source. The taste is very well prepare and balance. What A night of fine dinning. Yummy tommy good. Their daily menu change. Each time they have different menu. Since the menu change each time, I am encourage you to try journey with their chef creation. Drop by and taste what they have creat at the day. Service is good.

The food: superb. The service: poor. Went to dinner at Sage this weekend. Half the party was given the lunch menu by mistake, which was not rectified until they started to order from it. We ordered appetizers and salads. Waited a long time, at which point they were served simultaneously. The food itself was phenomenally good. To improve the place needs to keep the kitchen, but get a new leader for the front of the house.

Amazing dinner. The food is exquisite! Everything was wonderfully cooked and had great flavor. We ordered the Cajun BBQ shrimp for our beginner, my husband got the salmon dish, and I got the orange beer salad with salmon. We also ordered watermelon, honey dew melon, and grapefruit star anise sorbet for dessert. The watermelon sorbet was probably our least favorite item we ordered. Anyways. Highly recommend it!
