Had lunch, hubby ordered the ‘Ropa Vieja’ with Yuca and Arroz Moro, I had the ‘Lechon’ with Arroz Blanco and black beans with a side of Tostones. The portions are good, the ambience was relaxing. Wish they had other juice beverages instead of just your standard soda products… drinks like coconut water, jugo de tamarindo, guava, guanabana, and so forth. Will be back again and I plan on getting the flan.

Customer service was great, fast. Not the best Cuban I’ve had but tasty all the same. Bread was good and fresh.

My husband, toddler and I all enjoy going to Habana’s Boardwalk. Everything we have tried has been very tasty and nicely prepared. The service is attentive and helpful. My daughter(age 2) loves the black beans. The only issue I have ever had here was during lunch with a large group. My food was delicious, but some of the others were disappointed in what they ordered(one had never tried Cuban and was expecting a Mexican-spice flavor). The real issue came during check-out — there were issues with taking change or something. Still, we really like going as a family for lunch or dinner.

Had dinner here. The croquettes, empanadas, pastalitas, plantains, yucca Frita, Cuban sandwich, masitas, & saltiado de carne were all fresh, hot, authentically made and DELICIOUS. Three of us ate til we were full and had enough leftover for lunches tomorrow all for about $ 50. Yum yum yum

It’s Cuban food at its best. The owner/chef really truly understands the complexity, texture and the flavor of authentic CUBANFOOD at its very best!!! The attention to to detail far exceeds most Cuban food establishments even in Miami Florida. The service is also second to none led by Genesis, great job Erik your food is the best of the best Cuban Food in Tallahassee!!! Maybe even better than anywhere else in Florida.

Growing up with Cuban cooking, there are a lot of imitators that are sub-par and I have to say this place is truly authentic and SO delicious! Their service is always fast and extremely affordable, which is great when you want a quick bite to eat. My personal favorite meal is the Media Noche with a chicken empanada. The empanada comes with an aioli-esque dipping sauce that is to die for and tastes amazing on everything. Don’t forget to ask for a cortadito to finish your meal off with. All in all, Habana’s is a great choice if you’re in the mood for authenticity and a wonderful meal.

Authentic Cuban cuisine in Tallahassee. The Vaca Frita is amazing — crispy with onions and peppers. The lechon is juicy and the Pollo Empanizado with raw onions is delicious. Pair the meats with Moros and Maduros, Tostones or Yuca for the perfect meal!

I was absolutely devastated when the original restaurant(Las Brasas, which was a Peruvian-only place, over on Apalachee Parkway) closed down. When I heard that the owners had opened up a Cuban place, I actually stayed away for awhile, assuming that it wouldn’t have any of my old favorites on the menu. But, luckily, they have a lot of the things I had loved about their previous place; Lomo Saltado, a green aioli sauce that goes great with everything, amazing flan, and a lot more. The only thing missing from the old location is a ceviche that was incredible. Service is decent, food is amazing. I only wish they had a little more space, cause the dining room can be a little echo-y if a futbol game is on, it’s particularly busy, or if the owner’s kids are running around the place.

Everything was great & authentic! Lechon Asado(roast pork) was seasoned perfectly! The Ropa Viaja was juicy & delicious! All hit the spot and we have plenty of leftovers!

Wish I could do 4 ½ stars. The food was very good and prices were reasonable. Papa rellena appetizer was bite sized which was great for sharing and the dipping sauce they brought with it was very good. Vaca frita was good. I’m cuban and am used to the food. My only issue was lack of seasoning which could be to cater to the audience in the area. The server was great too. I’ll definitely be back.

Habana’s Boardwalk is very similar to Ted’s in that it is out of sight and out of mind… it is located in a part of town out on Mahan that I rarely am driving by and I seldom think to make a specific trip just to go there… and also like Ted’s it’s one of those places when I do go I always end up saying we should come here more often. Habana’s Boardwalk is really the only legitimate Cuban Restaurant in Tally and it should in no way be confused with the joints serving«falsa Cubano» food(looking at you Gordo’s).Habana’s is owned and operated by real Cubans and they make a pretty decent effort on all the Cuban Staples… Ropa Vieja… Pork Dishes. Chicken Dishes have all been tried and they were competent efforts… Cuban Sandwich is served warm with ample ingredients on the proper Cuban Bread… Media Noche is made with just the right amount of sweetness… the Lechon with Onions Sandwich which is the other Cuban«Base Sandwich» I like to judge a place by is also well done… they also serve my favorite Cuban Appetizer a Papa Rellena which are fried mashed potato balls stuffed with meat and these are quite good at Habana’s as well… and to end your meal they make a potent Cubano Coffee… not for the faint of heart… I do have to note service at times here can kind of be «Island Time» style movement so patience is necessary. No Habana’s is not as good as some of the legendary Cuban Restaurants in Tampa and Miami, but for Tally it’s a damn good effort… I think it’s a solid 3.5 star joint, but since Unilocal does not allow that 3 stars it is… Make the effort to «find» Habana’s and I don’t think you will be disappointed

Best Cuban food in North Florida! Food is very authentic. Vaca Frita makes your mouth water, the lechon is moist and delicious, and the Tilapia with red sauce is recommended! This is my one stop in Tally to feel at home! Service is a plus!

I have no idea if they hired a new chef or if the cook just had a really bad day today. I’m a Colombian married to a Cuban, and have been eating Cuban food for the past 10 years cooked by my in-laws. We’ll, on other occasions this place has done a decent job with the meals we have ordered, however, today the Ropa Vieja was nothing more than shredded meat with a bunch of salty-oily-water, bell peppers and onions(when I say salty, I mean SALTY). As the sides, we had ordered Moro and yuca frita but instead we got sweet plantains and yuca frita which where soaked in the salty-oily-water from the«ropa vieja.» My husband’s Bistec empanizado was super hard, dry and it tasted a little too old(almost as if it was reheated.) The only reason why we didn’t returned it was because we live about 20 minutes away and it wasn’t worth wasting our gas. It’s a REAL shame because a couple months ago, I LOVED this place.

Have always been a fan of this establishment. Being a Miami native, I miss the amazing food found in S. Florida — and this place has it. Service is good, food excellent and the prices could not be more agreeable — just as they are in the little shops of Miami. I have used Habana’s for catering in the past and it is always a hit.

My first day in Tallahassee, I found this restaurant based on its location nearby. Since the reviews were positive I was excited to have Cuban Cuisine. As a native south Floridian, I have acquired a taste for good Cuban food. However, this meal left a lot to be desired. The chicken was so tough and dry, that I could barely chew it. It was extremely salty too! The rice and beans were bland, and there was no sauce on the meat. I am extremely disappointed and definitely will NOT ever return. Perhaps the chef has changed — I’m not certain as to why my experience was not as positive as the reviews I read. If you are expecting good Cuban food, this is the wrong place to choose!

Decent Cuban food but their rice is just plain white rice and that is a turn off for me. Cuban rice is supposed to have that delicious garlicky flavor! Otherwise, portions and service are good, and they have 20% off on Mondays!

Havana Boardwalk is the nicest Cuban restaurant in town — by which i mean the setting, décor, tables, lighting and service are a cut above the other Cuban restaurants. I think the Cuban grille(in Esposito’s plaza) comes closest to being a Cuban diner from the«Sauwesera» in Miami, but this place serves fare that I believe is more thoughtfully presented. Let’s just say they’re close.(In fare, remember, and not décor, etc.) My Filetillo Saltiado this evening was perfect. Really. Sautéed Peppers, onions and tomatoes form the bed on which my medium-rare grilled filet was sliced and placed. Very nice. Accompaniment of black beans, white rice AND yuca hervida completed the dish. A colada wrapped the evening up in a tidy bow. Sorry — remembered to take video but no stills!

Delicious, delicious, delicious! Friendly service and yummy food! My only disappointment was not having space in my stomach to put more food. I had Ropa Vieja with tostones and my boyfriend had the bisteca and plantains – num, num, nummers. Media Noche… next time, you and me. You and me…

The BEST cuban food north of Miami!!! I’ve eaten here twice and the food is consistently good and prices are reasonable. I started off with a cup of garbanzo soup. The broth has a hint of chorizo and the beans were soft and not hard like other soups I’ve had elsewhere. Next up was a lechon asado sandwich. OMG, grilled onions served on top of the most moist and tender pork. I ordered tostones as my side and they were crisp and crunchy — just they way I like them. Ask for little mojo sauce to spread on top. Yum! The flavors are so haunting that it makes me want to run back over for another sandwich. A new favorite!

OMG! The pulled pork is to die for. Have you tried the steak sandwich yet? All that deliciousness for around $ 8? It’s a steal!
