Was in town for work and went here dinner but didn’t have a reservation. At first we were told there wasn’t space bc Session was in but after getting the manager he made room for us. I only mention this because there were several empty tables and half way through our dinner we realize that none of those tables were ever filled so not sure why reservation was necessary. On to the food, which in my opinion, is extremely overpriced. While the menu offers a variety of options the flavor combinations and the preparation of the food leaves little to be desired. I’m not sure if Tallahassee is limited in its fine dining options, but I felt the cost didn’t meet experience. Also our service was extremely slow and she rarely came back to the table to see how we are doing or to refill drinks.

Very good food and service. Definitely the place to take my parents when they fly in from the big city up north.

Marvelous, spectacular, splendid! When was the last time you described dinner with any of these three words? Not only was the food excellent, but the service and staff were fantastic. Our waiter was attentive, the chef came to our table on three occasions, and the food service was prompt. The restaurant was extremely accommodating and handled multiple special requests with ease. Cypress went out of the way to make sure our night was memorable and special, this was a great experience from start to finish.

Fantastic! My parents were in town for the holidays and we wanted a nice, non chain, «different» meal. We all 3 tried different entrees and there wasn’t a drop left. The wine list was impressive and the liquor drink selection was spot on. I really liked what they offer for dessert… which is a sampler of three of their most popular ones(all made in house) and it was the perfect size for all of us to try a few bites of each. Would definitely recommend for either a celebratory dinner or just to get a group together. The music they were playing was great too:)

Decided to come here for Sunday brunch with the boyfriend so we could eat somewhere fancy before I left the country for a month. We had ordered some donut bites. Yum! I ordered the southern benedict and goodness gracious. Each bite was so wonderful and glorious. It is easily not the most beautiful dish Cypress serves, but who needs southern food fancied up anyway? I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the gentleman who served our table, but he was incredibly sweet and helpful! One of my top two brunch places in Tallahassee.

I went here for a business dinner, my first time in Tallahassee. I was not impressed. The restaurant is nice, and the service is great, but overall, for the price I paid, I feel the quality of the meal could have been better. Also, it is a very limited menu, and they are following the trend of mixing non-traditional ingredients together, which generally I like, but the combinations they offer really seem a bit too much for me. Charge extra for bread service, a no-no in my book. Overall, I imagine there are better places in Tallahassee for the cost, or even better local places, which are not fancy, but which would be a good setting. If you are traveling through, I would suggest trying something else.

This was my 5th visit. The service and food have consistently been unparalleled by any other restaurant in town.

We went on a game night thinking they wouldn’t be busy and that we would have a special night. Not the case! Service was very slow and basic, server didn’t make recommendations and was very casual for a place like this. Sent the cherry drink back because it had way too much bitters… Then my steak was about 60% fat. I don’t mind marbling on a good steak but I’m actually surprised they served this. It was inedible and we brought the rest home for the dogs. The other entrees were not impressive. We didn’t even bother with dessert. Btw the bartender admitted that the“rocks pour” was more booze and lower price(even with a splash of soda or something). Sounds like they have some pricing issues. Definitely order the rocks pour! Too bad we wasted our one night out in tally on vacation on this place. I wouldn’t waste your time…

Pretty goos experience at Cypress. Wasn’t the most amazing meal ever, but food was decently good. The service was excellent. Only complaint is the portions are tiny, they seem to be a little bit skimpy with most of their plates.

We just celebrated at this restaurant and it was amazing. The servers were professional, knowledgeable, polite, and very accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious, and the drink selection was on point. The next time I’m here I will definitely be stopping in.

I wanted to love Cypress more, but this was just moderately well-executed good food with a pretty steep price tag for somewhat tiny portions. Here’s what I tasted — Seasonal Salad — 9(Roasted Beets, Grapefruit Supremes, Arugula, House-made Ricotta, Red Onion, Candied Bacon, Toasted Pecans, Orange Oil Vinaigrette) — Seared Scallops — 12(Forbidden Black Rice, Blood Orange Gastrique, Beet & Apple Relish) Both items were ok, though not outstanding. Service was good, but again, not outstanding. Nothing about the restaurant blew me away. If I do visit again, I think I may just sit and eat at the bar.

We went out with another couple to celebrate a birthday. My friend set the reservation, and when we arrived, the table was ready for us and the even had birthday confetti sprinkled about on the table to acknowledge the occasion. Service was super friendly, and I really enjoyed the banter we struck up with our server, though at times, we were left waiting for too long. Drinks were ordered and arrived on time, for the first round. On the second round, I reordered my gin and tonic — double lime, and it came out with just one. The server caught the issue and I waited for a bit, but the lime(three of them on a plate, actually) didn’t come for another 20 minutes and I was long done with my drink. She returned them to the bar as I said I didn’t need them. Again, the server was super nice and we had a good laugh about it when I asked for«a plate of limes» about 30 minutes later(as a joke). Foods was excellent. We had several cheese boards, an appetizer, entrees and desserts. Prices were fair for the quality of food produced. All in all, a very good experience. Some minor hiccups, but I will definitely be back.

Delightful fresh Dishes, beautifully seasoned, impeccable presentation. Loved the textural interplay and contrasting flavors in each dish. The only caveat — wish the front of the restaurant was as polished, talented, and professional as the kitchen.

Really great dinner. I was impressed with their vegetarian dish, instead of being the usual assortment of veggies and a starch, they had a chick pea and mushroom turnover with a curry sauce. I also saw the quail and pork belly, which I was told was yummy. Both entrees were small portion. They also had nice happy hour wine at the bar, but sadly the happy hour deals were not offered in the dining room. Overall, I very much enjoyed Cypress. One of the best meals I have had in Tallahassee.

I had an awesome experience here and cannot wait to go back to Tallahassee to try more of Cypress’ delicious food! I came here with a coworker for dinner last week. Unfortunately we hadn’t made a reservation which is a huge no no during«busy season» aka legislative committee weeks/legislative session weeks at the Capitol. I really thought we were going to get turned away until the hostess told us she would be able to seat us at the chef’s table which was near the bar. Score! I wanted to eat a lighter dinner so I ordered the Brussel sprout salad and asked for shrimp with the salad. The waitress said it would be no problem and asked me how many shrimp I would like. Hmm. Six sounds reasonable. So I ordered six! The salad was fabulous. There was crispy prosciutto and brussel sprouts as well as gorgonzola/blue cheese and it was just so light and refreshing. The shrimp were seasoned perfectly and were so tasty. My coworker ordered the tuna entrée which looked incredible. Part of me sort of wishes I would have gotten what she got but I was still satisfied with my entrée. She said it was delicious. She also ordered the butternut squash soup and since she’s from New England, she knows her butternut squash soup. She gave that a thumbs up, too. Well, we decided to end up doing dessert too, which was a great decision. I ordered the apple pie and my coworker ordered the flourless chocolate cake. The apple pie came with salted caramel ice cream and the combination of the fried/hand pie and the ice cream was incredible. I loved this dessert. The flourless chocolate cake was dense and very rich. Be careful if you’re doing to order it – it is VERY chocolatey! Service was friendly and informative. Valet is complimentary. I will be back.

I went to Cypress last year for Valentines, my anniversary, and will be back again this February. Needless to say, this is my favorite spot for a classy, romantic date. My servers on each occasion have been extremely helpful and knowledgable in regards to their drink and food menu as well as very attentive. I believe their menu changes seasonly but everything is always. cooked to perfection.

Oh the exquisite pain to give Cypress two stars. I just cannot see giving them three. So OK, 2.5. My friends were in town for a game weekend and it was right before my birthday so they wanted to take me out. One friend insisted on here and asserted herself in a much stronger way than normal so Cypress won out. I alerted them to happy hour and we had to make an early reservation so everything worked out to make a pit stop at the bar before dinner. So, first, kudos to Cypress for being a nice restaurant in a town with a lot of fixed income workers, for surviving the recession, and not changing their concept. It really is impressive. It is the extra half star. I was the first to arrive at the restaurant. So I sat at the bar and ordered a nice Cotie they had on happy hour. Then I decided to order a martini also, I figured that we would have two drinks when the girls got there and the bar was empty so have him make it while he had the time. Well my dirty martini was made not dirty. It was the best regular martini I have ever had. Perfectly balanced and mixed. So I didn’t mind, but it wasn’t like it was jammed and it was a slip of thought. Then the girls show up and order some drinks. We are already over our reservation time so we close out our bar tab and move to our table. The waitress was nice. We can be an overwhelming bunch. She handled us well. We were brought some tasters to decide on wine. My choice won out, a chenin blanc. We each ordered. My friend really wanted to try their shrimp and grits and was excited all week… she isn’t a huge eater, but she didn’t even eat half. She didn’t utter a word about it. I am not even sure she finished all the shrimp. That is how I know she didn’t like it. I had the quail and belly. You will see from my picture that my pecan breading was cakey and way too overwhelming for the meat. I thought it was going to be like a ground fine powdered and pan fried. What I got was so unappetizing. Then my pork belly, while the corner of one edge seemed to have a bit of char, it was not rendered properly. The fat was not crispy on top. Add to all of this the pan sauce they had on the plate was bland and made the few edible bits of meat on the quail even more a soggy mess. The spetzel on the plate was tough and inedible. It wasn’t airy and was overcooked during the pan frying aspect of the preparation. The entire thing taste like a bland mess. The actual meat on the pork belly was tender and tasted ok, but duh, it is bacon meat. If my friends weren’t treating me for dinner, and my one friend hadn’t insisted on going to Cypress because she remembered it as always being«so good!» I would have sent my meal back. My friend and I did share a special appetizer of the evening which was a fried oyster salad. clearly fried in that same stuff that the quail was in but less cakey and actually fried properly. It was good, but it was fried oysters, greens, and raw purple onions. I like onions, had them in nearly every bite and still left a good 15 pieces on the plate. We ordered two deserts(which I really did not want to do because my meal was not good, but ended up glad we did) We got the flourless chocolate cake. As everyone ate it they said«wow, this is so good». Which was clearly missing from the first half of the meal. I thought it was too rich. The honey goat cheesecake was good. I liked it. I don’t think it had exotic spices though. The almond brittle combo was good. I liked the lemon curd and normally I don’t like lemon deserts. The texture of the cheesecake was funny because the goat cheese. I don’t think you can mitigate that though. It could have just been good because I was still hungry. I am the type to address a situation of this nature. I hate when people leave reviews without having addressed it with the restaurant. I know I should have discussed it with the waitress and she could have spoken with a manager but under the circumstances, I just did not think that would make for a nice evening for the girls. I also thought it would create an avalache of the same comments from the other girls based on what I saw of their eating. Everyone was hungry and no one came close to finishing their small portioned plates. In this town, people often complain about price. I actually think the prices are in line with the food they are trying to serve and what they are and have been. The product they turned out was just sub par. The staff was pretty nice, in fact they helped play a practice joke on my friend who ordered port. It made for a good laugh. In past dining experiences here, I have been let down with food. Not as much as this time, but let down. Bluntly, I can pay 24 dollars an entrée at two other places, each a ¼ mile in each direction from this restaurant and get much better. I think they are resting on their laurels.

Brunch is one of the most popular meals nowadays. It allows one the opportunity to roll out of bed hungover at 11 am and grab some food while indulging in day drinking. The brunch menu at Cypress does not disappoint. Plenty on the drink menu to choose from and the food ranges from savory to sweet. Half of the group went with Biscuits and Bradley’s Sausage Gravy with eggs over easy and the biscuits were the perfect texture(nice and fluffy yet substantial but still manages to melt in your mouth), I tried the Prosciutto & Green Hill Sandwich which comes with Truffle-Herbed fries and although it was good, I wish I had jumped on the biscuits and gravy bandwagon. The french loaf left your fingers oily and a bite of the prosciutto meant you’d have to commit to eating the whole clump of it since it did not separate easily. Fries were perfect but couldn’t finish them since they were salted heavily(which I loved but it became overwhelming). They had a nice selection of teas, I recommend the lemon-lavender for a nice palate cleansing. A little pricey for the quality of the food received, service was also OK, and the set up of the table was awkward as the servers kept bumping into the group and one of our seats was wedged between wall and table. It’s worth a try as it is all a matter of personal preference.

I love this place! Yes it’s pricey but damn it’s good… The ambiance is great. The walls are filled with art by a local artist and available for sale. Every 3 months a new artist is featured, very cool way to showcase the up and coming. I was in jeans of course but did not feel underdressed around the others who were dressed up. Nice mix of folks. Everything that we ordered was amazing from cocktails to dessert. We didn’t recognize any of the wine on the list so their in house sommelier came over to assist, nice touch. We started with, bread basket(yummy), Cypress Salad(yummy), Oysters & Biscuits(yummy) all delicious but the star was the«special» of the night-Squash Blossoms! Wow, that’s the only way to describe them… Entrees were Hanger Steak and Cypress Vegetarian. Friend says that the steak melts in your mouth-best he’s ever had. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to eat my dish, the flavors in that dish were so delicious my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Desserts were a Southern Pecan Turnover and Flourless Chocolate Cake, both awesome! Our bill for 2 was $ 199.95 not including tip. But we ate and drank enough for 4, so totally worth it! **HIGHLYRECOMMENDED**
