Where to eat with a large group in Talladega? Margarita’s might be your only hope. Is the food great? Nope, but it’s passable. Is the service good? Better than average for a group. Is the price right? Reasonable for lunch.

Ok this place has really good food. The service is usually pretty good but can sometimes be a little off. The margaritas are really good and I just love the salsa. I definitely recommend trying it.

Ate here yesterday with a large group of people. Is it the best Mexican I’ve ever had? No. Do I think Mexican food is the bomb and will be happy with it even if just mediocre? Yes. Well that was easy! But maybe you want more details… I don’t remember being very impressed with this place when I’ve eaten here before, but I actually enjoyed my lunch yesterday. It could be that I’ve now come to grips with the fact that the food choices in Talladega are slim. It could also be that I was really hungry and they put food in my belly. Those two facts are the reason this place gets 3 stars instead of 2. The service was a little slow, but we had 10+ people so that was to be expected. The place seems clean, the lights are a little dim, and thankfully the noise level(including music) is not too loud. I like the fact that each person gets an individual bowl of salsa. Particularly comparing the salsa to my past experience I don’t remember wanting to scrape the bowl… but I did this time. The salsa was a little sweet, a little hint of spicy, and a little chunky. I liked tasting the sweetness of the tomato with the bite of onion and cilantro. The chips were a little overdone but did their job of shoveling salsa into my mouth well. I ordered from the Lunch Menu and got the #L: Chicken Enchilada Verde, Beef Quesadilla, and rice(which I substituted for beans). Let me precede by saying I love verde salsa and theirs wasn’t up to par but it wasn’t horrible either. I was more disappointed that the only thing I could taste was the corn tortilla… and that shouldn’t be allowed when topped with verde salsa and cheese and filled with chicken. I should be saying…“Was this wrapped in something?” instead of «Did I just eat a plain corn tortilla?». I liked the Beef Quesadilla. The beef was sort of like a roast beef with a brilliant herby flavor. The beef was also a bit of a downfall though, because although I liked the flavor I didn’t care for the texture much, BUT the flavor triumphed. The flour tortilla had an excellent crispness and«skillet browned» flavor. Hope that makes sense. I topped my quesadilla with salsa which made it even more yummy. The refried beans were very much like refried beans, and maybe even a little below what decent refried beans should taste like. What I’m trying to say is that they weren’t impressive enough to finish because I was already stuffed like a hog by the time I ate chips and salsa, an enchilada, and quesadilla. They were ok to eat while devouring my other entrée stars, but wouldn’t cut it solo.
