Cute store, but they have a policy to allow dogs in the gift shop. As you can imagine, if you are going to buy someone a new scarf as a gift, the last thing you want is to have it covered in animal hair and slobber. Not very clean for a gift shop. More like an animal zoo.

What a cute little shop! This place has something for everyone. If you are looking for a cool, under $ 20 housewarming gift for someone, shop here. Who doesn’t like pleasantly scented candles? If you need a gift for your friend’s little tyke, shop here. Gifts for guys? They have some things. If you are pro Takoma Park they have hats and tee shirts to promote the city. They have lots of pretty scarf that would make a great birthday gift. Hint. Hint. The staff is helpful, and if you are buying something as a gift, they’ll package it in a brown handled bag with colored tissue for you at no extra cost.

Bet jewelry selection ever! Also love the pottery, tiles, cherry wood items, cards, Japanese erasers, stuffed animals, wind up toys – everything! And all the lovely people who work here! Yay!

This is a nice place with very friendly staff, but it left me feeling flat for some reason when compared to the many other places with similar types of things that’re proliferating in DC. That said, there’re a good number of unique toys and nice, artsy gifts here. Also, if you like yarn, there’s an area devoted to it. Now & Then just didn’t suit me, unfortunately.

Living in Takoma, this little shop has been a lifesaver when I need to find a unique present for someone. I’ve bought very little for myself, but that’s mainly because it’s easier to justify slight splurges on friends.(Yes, things are a tad pricey, but justifiably so…) Now & Then offers various presents(including kitchen, jewelry, random useful items, and kids’ stuff) as well as knitting supplies. I’m not a knitter, but it seems well stocked and people are always browsing over in that section! Personally, I’m a huge fan of their little card & wrapping paper area. Lovely paper is sold in tiny rolls or tissue paper packets… not very bulk, but people always appreciate the small touch, eh? And the cards tend towards the simple, often with no set comments inside. Hate the mushy ridiculousness, let me write my own! Best of all? They have intricate pop-up cards for many occasions. Staff members are always quick to help — once when I mentioned that a friend had especially liked a necklace I purchased as a present, they found the etsy contact information for the artist!

This is a great little shop, filled with delicious yarn, sparkling jewelry, unique gifts, and educational children’s toys and games. The staff are very personable, happy to let you browse, but available for any questions you might have. It’s a must-stop when I go back to Takoma Park for a visit.

I love this shop. They are my go-to place when I need a fun little gift that I know people will use and enjoy. More for the ladies than the gents. They also carry yarn. Take note – Malabrigo yarns sold here. The staff is super. Very friendly and ready to answer questions, but they also let you alone to shop. If you tell them something is a gift, they wrap it in pretty tissue, put it in one of their brown handle bags and tie it with ribbon.

I’ve been going here since I was born. They always have really great display windows when walking by Old Town Takoma Park. Whenever I go inside, they always have a great selection of different really cute fun stuff to get for adults and children. It’s more female driven than male, but… sometimes you can find some really cool stuff that a certain guy might like. If you haven’t had a chance to come on through to check out this strip of little shops, it’s worth a trip :-)

Now & Then used to be a little weirder and more eclectic(although never especially cheap…) but it’s still a very cool little gift place. Knitters will love it, lots of knitting stuff. If I had more money, I could probably blow a ton of it on adorable sushi plates and the like, but I don’t, so hey. Really interesting clocks, if you’re into that sort of thing! Stop in if you’re wandering around TP.

This is one of my favorite little boutiques. They always have a great selection of items — especially unique jewelry and gifts for the hipster knitters. They also have really beautiful household items, books, and stuff for the kids.

This gift shop has a great variety of upscale items. It is the perfect place to go for your next baby shower or toddler birthday. They also sell a variety of candles, clocks, dishes and kicking Takoma Park t-shirts and hats.
