I had a terrible experience with this place — I would not recommend anyone going. Firstly, my friend and I had a Groupon for a massage but we could not get Aza Wellness to call us back to schedule an appointment. We would leave message stating what dates we could do and by the time Aza Wellness called us back, the dates we suggested had passed. This went on for two or three times(2 months had gone by). When we finally scheduled an appointment, Aza Wellness canceled on 2 hours before the massage. We had already taken time off work and scheduled to meet friends in Takoma Park afterward. We were literally at the Takoma Park Metro when I received a message stating that they would have to cancel our massage. At this point, we had done all that we could do try to schedule an appointment and get a massage. Thank goodness for Groupon’s great return policy. We were trying to have a fun girls massage but the amount of time and energy spent trying to get a massage appointment was awful.

I bought a groupon for this place and will not be going back. My fault for not checking better to determine if it’s metro accessible — it’s not, and took me forever to walk there. So, yes, I was late. The groupon was for a massage and facial. Because I was late, I was told I could have one or the other… I understand, but there was NOONE else in the whole place besides me and the therapist… no one waiting after me… no one at all, actually — it was kind of creepy. I wouldn’t have given it such a poor rating based solely on that, but I have to add that the massage therapist did not touch my feet(which were sore from all that walking) nor my head or face. That’s just weird in a full-body massage and certainly not what I am looking for.

I had one fantastic and one terrible experience. 1–(Positive) Found Razan, the owner & massage therapist, through Groupon. She is an amazing masseuse who can really find the trouble spots and pinpoint the exact needs of your body. I have gotten massages for over 15 years and she is one of the best Practitioners. The honey facial was very soothing and gentle. For just using local honey, it had amazing results 2–(Negative) Because of my first good experience, I decided to schedule another appointment on a Monday. Unfortunately, she had to cancel last minute due to a family emergency. I received an email at 5am the day of. Luckily I checked my email. She then said she could schedule me that Saturday at 10:30am. I showed up and waited for 30 minutes and she never came. I tried calling her — her voicemail was full. I tried emailing — almost a week later and no response. Unless she actually replies and has professional business etiquette, I will not be returning.

I was very disappointed with Aza Wellness — I bought a Groupon(like many others) and was excited to use it. The website made it seem like a great woman-owned business but I was extremely let down. Whenever I tried to call to make an appointment, the voicemail was routinely full. She then had a message stating that if you contacted her before a certain date, your Groupon would be honored but if not then you were out of luck. Since I had never been able to get through to her voicemail, then was no record of me trying to contact her — very annoying. Luckily Groupon took care of everything and refunded my money but this was a very frustrating and unprofessional experience.

I bought a Groupon for Aza Wellness and tried unsuccessfully for months to schedule an appointment. My phone calls and online appointment requests were never answered. I can only guess that the success of the Groupon offer was overwhelming for this business and the owner simply stopped returning phone calls from potential new clients using a Groupon. Very disappointing customer service.

Now that I still have massage afterglow and chillin I figured it’s a good time to write about my experience here. Let me just say this I’ve never been the type to get into massages. I had a roomie that would go into a hypnotic trance during them. Me however, I am tense from the get go lying in my chonies half naked with a stanger rubbing me down. I keep wondering if they are staring at scars, thinking I’m fat, wondering if they are offended by stubble on my legs or tats or my lack of pedicure. It’s never been comfortable for me. My last massage experience was a big dude, who sweat on me. I think he moaned too. But my shoulders kill from paddling a surfboard and working, so I bought a groupon for a facial and massage at Aza Wellness. I had no problems with scheduling, but I was running late to the appointment cause I could not for the life of me imagine where in Takoma Park it was(I grew up in Silver Spring so I should know), and found this business in a residential area close to New Hampshire Ave. It’s in an office buiding, and it looks like a no frills spa(no sauna. etc), but the owner does have a very nicely decorated spa room, with the sound of crashing waves in the background which to me is a hundred times better than the usual enya/yanni weirdness. I met with Razan(owner and massage therapist) and we talked about an abbreviated massage/facial since I was late. So I laid down thinking«what if she’s mad at me cause I was late?». And then she put her hands on me and started working and my thoughts were«la la la ohhhh». And then I just melted and thought of beaches, ponies and diamonds. She has strong hands, but not in a painful way. She applies direct pressure to spots and then does this sweeping motion and it feels like a wave is crashing over you and then the tightness is gone. The facial was more massaging, and not quite sure what went on my face, at this point she could have poured hot ash on my face and I wouldn’t care I was so blissed out, but it smelled pleasant and my skin looks good. At the end I was jello. It was one of the best massages ever, very highly recommended.
