I tried the red velvet gelato and it tasted okay… But halfway through there was a long white hair in it! Gross!

We love this place and come nearly every day when staying in Tahoma. Staff have always been very nice and excellent gelato. How many flavors do you need? There are usually 8 and good variety. Coconut is my fav and green apple also but they don’t have it often.

Our second visit(and now last) — a couple of years after our last one — proved disappointing. The gelato is not particularly flavorful, there aren’t a lot of options, the prices are high, the portions are tiny, and the girl who said she made the gelato seemed more interested in yacking with friends outside than paying attention to her customers or her product.

Adorable spot, but TERRIBLE staff. Our ice cream server had incredibly rude responses to our group’s 2 simple questions. I couldn’t even buy a cone because I was so shocked. Going to get a popsicle across the street…

Great little coffee shop with gelato too! Everyone is super sweet that works here and God knows we needed a coffee shop in Tahoma! I am grateful to this place and wish them many more years of success!

Very quaint little Gelato and Coffee place right in the middle of Tahoma. Be it for a short but sweet refreshing break or to treat yourself to some dessert after a sumptuous meal in the neighboring Pizza joint, this place is a fabulous choice. Their freshly brewed coffee is great and Chai Tea Latte is also exquisite. The choices in flavors for the ice cream, though not anything extravagant, is good enough to pack in a little something that everyone can like.

Where We Met is your perfect coffee spot when staying on the west side of the lake. Whenever I am visiting, which is 2 – 3 times a year, I always make this spot my morning coffee place. I usually order an Americana or a vanilla latte and they never disappoint. The couple that owns it has a cute story on how the shop got its name and not to mention an extremely adorable dog, Polpetta. Please, if your staying near or just passing by, do yourself a favor and stop bye. *note the reason why it didn’t get 5 stars is because there have been few times when I come up to visit and the shop isn’t open. They are a little inconsistent with hours.

Will not go back! Good gelato but the owner is NOT friendly and often downright unpleasant and rude. We have a second home nearby and always try to support local business on the West Shore. We have been coming here and bringing friends since it opened and have stupidly returned despite being repeatedly treated like an unwelcome intrusion. Today was the last straw. I really don’t understand why this young woman opened this place. She does not enjoy people at all. She never smiles or thanks customers — only people she knows. The rest of us she apparently doesn’t need. I echo the other reviewer — please patronize local businesses who appreciate and value your support.

Nice little coffee shop right off Hwy. 89 — serves seven flavors of gelato, your usual espresso favorites as well as a few snacky breakfast items. Service takes their time, but you are in Tahoe so what’s the rush?

We had a VERY unpleasant experience! The date was between June 10 – 13. According to the other reviews, it sounds like the owners and their offerings are exceptional. We will never find out for ourselves. The young woman behind the counter was not the owner. Here’s what happened: my 2 well-behaved kids, age 7&10, & I went in the empty shop in the afternoon. The menu board listed 4 sizes and the prices for each. The smallest size, «Bambino,» said next to it «for kids 0 – 12.» I asked for two Bambino’s. the server said«You cant get that size.» I said, «I don’t understand, my kids are between 0 — 12 years old.» She then said«The Bambino’s are only for local kids.» I said I’d never heard of anything like that before. She asked, «Do you live here?» I told her no — but we own our home here in Tahoma. She said, «I’m sorry but the Bambino is only supposed to be for the local kids who live here.» I said, «I don’t get it, it’s listed right up there on the menu board.» She said, «I’m sorry but my boss said that’s only for the local kids.» I just said, «I don’t think that’s good for business, to turn people away like that.» Then I had to tell my kids we weren’t going to get any gelato. They were sad but they heard the conversation. They felt particularly unwelcome here. Seriously, as I walked out, I glanced around expecting to see«Candid Camera» or something! I couldn’t believe it was real. Either that employee is very bad for business, OR, the owners have a warped disdain for would-be paying customers who are homeowners but don’t actually RESIDE in Tahoma.

One of the worst customer experiences of my life. When I asked if she knew how to make a double espresso her reply was«It’s a coffee shop, isn’t it??» My child asked to sample a flavor of gelato and she snapped«You already tried that one.» My child hadn’t and I was proud of her snapping back«Actually I tried the other one.» When the children pointed to the case asking what flavor that was she said«I can’t see where you are pointing. What do you mean ‘that’ one.» And then finally a new customer came in and expressed«Wow, you guys are busy — that’s great» and she replied«Only when I’m trying to close.» I’d like to chuck this up to her just having a bad day. But we went back over the two days we were there and were treated rudely each time. I would definitely take my coffee addiction elsewhere to someone who appreciates my business.

I don’t get the positive reviews. I tasted two of the flavors & both tasted like an old freezer. When I said that to the server, she tasted & didn’t agree. So I opted for the vanilla because it appeared to have just one serving taken out. I said to the server that I was going to have the vanilla because it must be the freshest(assuming there’d be no freezer taste). It tasted like it anyway though much less. My husband then ordered. I was seated outside & I heard her say«We make this every day» Wha-what? There was NO freakin’ way that each one of those flavors was made on that Sunday morning and served to half full by the 12noon hour that we were there, and the only ones around. Why lie? The other deal breaker for me is that they use plastic cups. I came back in with mine and asked where I could recycle it and she told me to just throw it away! Way to «Keep Tahoe Blue».

Adorable little shop with delicious REAL espresso, gelato, etc. A bit of Italy on West Shore, Lake Tahoe. A special place in town center, a sleepy little strip mall with a Post Office, pizza place, realtor, and this café. You can easily miss it… but my old word of advice. don’t. Sweet owner couple… fantastic service. *GREAT* array of gelato flavors.

We had a SMALL cup of milk/vanilla flavor gelato for $ 3 which we thought was expensive for what we had. We also sampled the lemon flavor as I was hoping for a refreshing flavor like what I had in Italy but Where We Met’s version was WAY too sour and not refreshing at all. I also thought the gelato was too watery. IMHO there’s still much room for improvement compared to the authentic Italian gelato.

Homemade gelato, tiramasu, and very good coffee and espresso drinks! Try the watermelon gelato if they have it. Also the nutella and honey flavors. It’s really wonderful to have a coffee place on the west shore — you don’t have to go all the way into Tahoe City for a decent cappuccino. Where We Met is next door to the pizzeria and the post office. Liz and Luca are friendly and the hours are great: 7:30/8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., depending on the day. There are a few chairs and a couple of tables for outdoor seating. Look for the Italian flag out front!
