Morning Glory Cottage Furnishings

We visit Tahoe City once a year and I found a couple of my other favorite stores had closed since last fall. So was happy to find Morning Glory still in business and open. However, the stock seemed down a bit and from a comment the young woman at the counter made, I am wondering if they might be closing. Hope not.
I can see why some shoppers might not like or even «get» this quirky mix of merchandise, but I always find some treasures. Everything was 20% off which was a nice bonus. I bought a necklace and scarf/​shawl — and would have made the purchase even without the discount.
Sure hope this store in a charming old house is still around on my next visit.

Love this place and owner Marci is great! I visit Tahoe a couple times a year; Morning Glory is a must! I always find cute gift items: this time dishtowels, jewelry, novelty items. They have lots of quality Tahoe souvenir items, cute picture frames, mirrors, lamps, etc. I find their posted hours to be pretty accurate. It’s always a must visit for me; I never leave empty handed!

I agree with Donna H. You can never get in if your a tourist. I had not been to Lake Tahoe in 3 years and was so anticipating going to this store because I own a very rustic house myself here in Oregon and love that kind of décor the shop offers. I made several phone calls and left voicemails asking to call me back to let me know when she could open and even drove from Nevada Beach 3 times to her shop when it was supposedly going to be open and no one was there and it was closed! The owner NEVER called me back! I asked other shop owners about the situation and they said the owner is rarely there. We arrived in Tahoe on a monday and had to leave on friday morning so of course I missed out. So in my 3 visits to Morning Glory I have only been able to get in the door once! NOT COOL! Shame shame!

We stop by this place every time we’re in the area. The woman who works there is great and the place has something for everyone. Perfect place to find gifts for anyone who has a vacation home in a forest setting.

Not one of my favorites — the place feels more like a combination of a thrift store, and a country knick-​knack store (it did not feel like a mountain-​ish store).
