Lake Forest Glen Homeowners Assn

There are a number of reviews on here for a 3^rd party rental agency, rather than the actual Lake Forest Glen HOA. The HOA does a fantastic job ensuring that owner dues are spent responsibly and maximize the value of our properties. The grounds and facilities are maintained very well, the staff is helpful, and the board is led by dedicated, long-​time owners.

A friends parents let us stay here while visiting Lake Tahoe. The condominiums are decent sized two story units with a small back patio. Each unit is allowed two parking spaces, access to two communiy swimming pools, a jacuzzi, tennis court, basketball hoop, and a small playground area for the little ones. Regarding the pools, a local resident told me there is a large «family» pool, and an «adult» pool and jacuzzi which children are not welcomed. We of course chose the family pool to take the kids and they had a blast swimming. It’s a large pool that ranges from 3−½ feet to 7 feet deep. The shallow end is roped off for non-​swimming kids to stay safe. Overall this was a great place to stay, because it’s very clean, well maintained, and not to far from the center of town.

This entire entry is very misleading, David J got it right, the Lake Forest Glen condos or HOA does not rent any condos directly. All the negative reviews here are about Paragon Realty, Carmen Dresslar — the entire entry should be renamed to reflect that.
Lake Forest Glen condos are all individual owned, and if rented they are rented by the owner or one of many rental agents. I have rented numerous units in Lake Forest Glen both from 2 different rental agents and VRBO and have always had a good experience with both the condos and the rental agents. The HOA seems to do a really good job maintaining the common area, pools, etc.
My advise is to rent from someone besides Carmen D, and of course with any condo rental look at the pictures and description carefully to make sure you are getting a well maintained unit. In general look for units that have had updates, are well equipped, and have other signs that the owners and rental agent cares.

There appears to be some confusion with these reviews. The HOA does not do any rentals and most of the negative reviews appear to be directed at one person Paragon Realty, Carmen Dresslar. I believe they manage/​rent a few units in the complex but have no relationship with the HOA.
As an owner of one unit in the complex I will give the HOA 5 stars for doing a great job with the exterior maintenance and other things that the are in charge of. Over the past few years they have re-​roofed and re-​painted the exterior of all the units. They are currently re-​paving all of the driveways and parking areas.
I have always found the HOA staff helpful and they keep the grounds in great shape and have kept the monthly dues at a very reasonable rate.
I hope reviewers will in the future review the individual unit/​manager of that unit in that I know some of the units can be older while others which I have walked thru can look like a 5 star hotel.

If I could give Carmen Dresslar 0 stars, I would. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE heed all of the negative reviews on how Ms. Dresslar conducts business and avoid her and Paragon Realty. There are too many good people to do business with to subject yourself to the pain that you will inevitably encounter.
The short version of my experience: showed up and the house was unshoveled even though it was supposed to be. Not a huge deal. Dug ourselves to the porch and let ourselves in. Still not a big deal. The house was filthy: crumbs all over the kitchen, food stuck to the tables, sticky floors. Kind of a big deal. The bathrooms were filthy: hair in the sinks, showers and on the counters, old bars of soap, dirty toilets. Yuck.
Called the cleaner who was nice, but couldn’t come over. Spent 2 hours shoveling and cleaning rather then skiing. Finally got Carmen on the phone. She first insulted us on a personal level then yelled at us (yes, actually yelled), saying «we should just deal with it and have a nice weekend», then hung up. Now this is a BIG DEAL. We called back all weekend and left messages which she never returned. We even left messages with her employee with no success.
Read all the reviews. This is how Carmen does business. Find someone else!

DANG IT!!! Why didnt I check Unilocal!first, before dealing with these CROOKS!!! Everything said about these two is totally true. Im too mad to even take the time to explain the whole story. The short version is like this… They took my deposit, then sent me the contract that was drasticlly different than what we had discussed. After ATTEMPTING to talk with her about it (Good luck trying to have a productive conversation with this lady) she stopped calling me back. She has disappeared with my deposit. I have called and emailed several times with NO response… I too, am taking her to court– my lawyer is in the process right now. STEAR CLEAR OF THE DRESSLARS!!!

This review is not so much about the home; it was fine. We went through VRBO and after inquiring about one of their homes, Carmen Dresslar directed us to another. The home was fine. Photos of the home were e-​mailed and everything was represented correctly. This was our first vacation rental and we had questions. We always had to leave a message and were never responded to. It was two weeks before our deposit was returned. All in all it left a bad taste in our mouths. I’m hoping the next property management company we deal with doesn’t operate this way.

Stay away from Paragon Realty, Carmen Dresslar! She is a liar! We rented a property at 3750 La Crosse in Tahoe City from her. She misrepresented it is a new remodelled house with a fantastic remodeling job. In reality only kitchen was remodelled, the rest of the house was in bad bad shape. Broken doors, owner’s clothes in tiny closets, flea market furniture, spotted sofa covered with bathroom towels, awful beds! We made photos and sent them to her. She yelled at me on the phone calling me names and hung up.

This is review of unit 24 rented in 2008.
When we arrived at 3 pm, we were greeted by the owners with the words: «I hate people that arrive early!». After that we waited for 2 hours in the snow for them to complete the «cleaning». Nevertheless, $ 100 was charged from our deposit for «early arrival».
The house was in extremely dirty and rundown condition — that despite $ 250! is charged for cleaning.
When we had an emergency, and left 10 messages to the owner — she never called us back. When next morning I reached her in the office, she hung up the phone.
All dishes were dirty. We had to hand-​wash them all before use. Dishwasher is barely working and does not clean dishes at all.
Several hot water taps were constantly leaking, as a result there was no hot water
Gas fireplace mentioned in the ad was nowhere to be found.
Read all the reviews below and make your own decision.

Stay away from this place. It is a total ripoff. The owners have several properties and they are also running the leasing agency so beware.
We have stayed at one of these units for four nights over Christmas and payed $ 1350. Here is the ad for the unit:
It is a complete misrepresentation of the condo. This was not a coner unit, the mattresses were so old and dirty they looked like the ones seen on the streets of San Francisco. My back ached all day long sleeping on «super quality foam mattress». Most of the storage was taken by owners junk and some was bolted with a lock such as the closet in master bedroom. Even though they charged $ 250 cleaning fee, we had to re-​wash all dishes and glasses because everything was dirty. The grill was so disgusting that we did not even touch it. I’ll be happy to provide pictures to prove this review.
