Best dive shop in the area. Super fantastic staff. Everyone there really knows their stuff.

Tacoma Scuba has been the mecca for South End Tec Divers for as long as I’ve been diving.
Its my go to place for equipment when I need gear, advice, and service. Plus when its not jammed and busy, a good place to BS for awhile.

I’ve had NOTHING but excellent interactions with Tacoma Scuba. They know their business, know their customers, and don’t push products that are unnecessary or just because it’s «cool». I am almost family when I walk in the shop, and everyone takes the time to get to know you by name. If you’re looking for rec or tech, this shop can do both and do it well!

WARNING: Do not shop at Tacoma Scuba Center! I’ve shopped at this store for over 5 years. Until recently they seemed interested and concerned for there customers satisfaction and well being. But times have changed. The owners seemed to have lost interest in anything besides making a buck. After a pretty terrible recent experience, I was expected to pay $ 17.00 for a shipped product. In my opinion, it might have been in their own interest to wave that minuscule charge in an effort to retain me as a customer. They chose to take the few bucks and piss off a long term customer. Now they have also persuaded me to post on social media their unacceptable behavior. In effect, they have made an enemy of me. I’ell be interested to see if my tweets and posts will cost them more than $ 17.00!
There are many dive shops in the Northwest. No one needs to put up with unprofessional service and immature behavior.

These guys are top notch. I drive down from the north end, through Seattle, past 5 other shops to deal with Joshua and Kalen. Great products. Great service. Great shop. Check em out. They know there stuff.

I am a local scuba shop owner who can testify to the excellent service Tacoma Scuba gives. You see, I was a customer LONG before I had my own place. We send 100% of those who are interested in dive training beyond our scope (technical/​deep) to Tacoma Scuba.
The store is owned/​operated by a husband/​wife team who sacrifice more hours than you know to make their customers happy.
With an excellent selection of gear, you’ll find the latest offerings from most major manufacturers. And if they don’t carry it, they’ll get it for you. That’s the service that sets this shop on a higher level than most.
In the Tacoma area, you will not find a better scuba shop. (And this is coming from a «competitor»).

THIS IS THE PLACE IF YOU WANT TO GET A SCUBA CERTIFICATION!!!
The staff was polite, knowledgable, and really made you feel safe. I got a basic open water certification in November, and it could not have gone smoother. During the closed water portions (in a pool, and the first time you put on Scuba gear) they had a 1:1 student instructor ratio, so not only were you quite safe, you also didn’t have to spend a lot of time waiting around for «your turn». By the time we started open water instruction (in Puget Sound), I felt very prepared.
Once you get certified, they’ll also throw in some free equipment rentals (which means everything you need for a dive), plus let you go on later group dives led by instructors for no additional charge (you’ll need to rent or provide equipment though). While recently diving on vacation in Maui I told some of the other divers about the cert plus free rentals and they were simply blown away with the value!
I’ll be bringing my wife (and anyone else I know that wants to get Scuba certified) here for sure!

This is the best dive shop I’ve ever gone diving through! Joshua and Kalen have some of the best customer service I’ve experienced diving in 3 oceans. They know all the best dive sites in the area and are wicked friendly. If you have diving questions, they have answers!

The best dive shop around. I did my certification through them and have been getting my gear. These guys are all about safety and making sure you get it. Tacoma Scuba offers you 4 full tank dives over two days, unlike most other shops that only give you 2 partials. This is the only place to look at if you want to get certified. Pricing is right and you can’t ask for a better crew of folks. Looking to get my son certified next.
They are very knowledgeable and will help you make the right choice for you. Looking forward to many years of diving with these guys. Oh, and the Thursday BBQ’s rock.

Best dive shop around, Joshua is a gear Master and always has great info on where to be diving. An incredible teacher and mentor for those learning to dive as well as those looking for the more technical adventure. Tacoma SCUBA will always be the shop I Dive out of regardless of where I live. In fact, I still send my gear there to get it worked on.

Great dive shop with all the dive goodies you could possibly want and anything that isn’t in there they can order for you. They have an excellent air fill station with the ability to mix any gasses you need from basic Nitrox to Trimix and Argon for your dry suits. The shop is often mistaken for a strictly technical dive shop and this simply isn’t true. Most of the customer base and classes going on are recreational. So it’s a shop that distinguishes itself from the majority of others because they really can do it all. It’s a fun place to go look at gear and of course, talk scuba.

The best place in the Sound for Fills, Suit Repairs, Service. If it’s not Commercial Only gear this is the only place to go. Josh is also more then capable of working on Commercial Gear there is just another shop in Seattle that holds the right’s for KMDSI service and sales, there is nothing Tacoma Scuba can do about that so it’s not a negative.
I have nothing but good things to say about this shop they have treated me very well!
