Occasionally we eat at a restaurant that exceeds my critical and demanding expectations and tonight we found one. We have visited Stanley & Seaforts before and always enjoyed the view, food and service but tonight they pulled out all stops. I had called and asked if we could have reservations the next night — our 50th Wedding Anniversary and they said 7PM is great. On the afternoon of the reservation, I asked for a change to 7:30 and they were very accommodating and mentioned they are trying to get us a good table. We arrived at 7:30 and were greeted with a warm welcome, congratulations and given the choice of seating in the second row by a window or waiting for another couple to finish up and getting a window table — we chose the 2nd option. Now we could have just sat in the bar waiting but every 10 minutes the hostess came by, apologized and kept us informed. We were seated at a great window table and we had a thank you for sharing your anniversary card and a complementary«Oven Roasted Crab and Artichoke Dip» for patiently waiting. Our waiter was friendly, and very helpful. I had the Ahi Dinner which was excellent and my wife had the Rigatoni Bolognese which she really loved. We were deciding on dessert when they presented us with an anniversary«Burnt Cream» that was amazing. My wife ordered and had a «Warm Pear Bread Pudding» and she was in heaven. The manager did come over and thank us for sharing our anniversary with Stanley & Seaforts and asked how everything was — and I believe he really cared. Summary — they not only provided a great evening, amazing food and outstanding service — they also made us feel like we were very important. That day was our actual anniversary and we loved the attention, the food, the service and the outstanding views.

Does not close at midnight on Saturday as advertised on Unilocal and their website. I arrived at 1115 with my 2 guests just to have a bourbon at their bar and some cheesecake and we were told that they close at 11 and turned away.

We came here for our anniversary, and I was a little worried since there were great and not so great reviews. Well let me tell you we were blown away by the yumminess and the service. My husband had never been, and for me it’s been years. He got the bacon wrapped meatloaf he loved it. I ordered halibut. Absolutely awesome!

Went to Stanley & Seaforts for our birthday last Saturday night. Our friend John & Karen took us out for our birthday, as we do them. Michael was our server(he’s the best). Wifey Jan had the copper river salmon and I had the pan seared halibut. Audience let me tell you, the halibut, was the best I’ve had since going to Le Cordon Bleu training. The salmon, and i’m not a salmon eater, but it was absolutely FANTaBULOUS! Halibut was so moist, flaky and cooked excellentle’! The salmon, no fishy-ness, I can’t tell you how excellent both meals were! You will have to go there. And if you go there and they offer the halibut cheeks, DONOTHESITATETOORDERTHEM! I prepared them in my culinary training and they are to die for! Thanks for reading.

Went there without reservations on a Thursday night around 8pm(they close at 9pm). It was busy due to graduation ceremonies at the T-dome but we were lucky enough to get a window table in the bar. Had the Stanley’s cut prime rib. I had forgotten how much I loved the buttery mashed potatoes. The au jus was a bit salty, and I LOVE salt so it might be a problem for those who don’t. Enjoyed my lemon drop and triple berry martinis. Minus a star because I believe they neglected to bring us bread with dinner(didn’t think about it until later), but still a really nice splurge to celebrate a special occasion.

Tonight 11 of us came in to celebrate a Graduation from South Kitsap at the Tacoma Dome. So much went wrong it is difficult to say that this dinner was even worth the price. To begin drink orders were not taken in a timely manner, and once they arrived mistakes were made but corrected. In the mean time we must have sat for 15 minutes before any attention was given or appetizer/dinner orders taken. The service was pathetic to say the least. Once dinner arrived we asked for a soup spoon and waited and waited before having another waitstaff bring one. Needless to say soup was cold and we sent back. Attention to detail was not there tonight. Not happy with service, not happy with price.

This is one of my absolute favorite places to go when celebrating an important occasion like a birthday, promotion, new years… My husband and I have never been disappointed with the atmosphere, service and food. The view of downtown Tacoma is beautiful. Our favorites: filet mignon and crème brûlée

Wonderful atmosphere and comfortable seating started this night. We made reservations about 2 hrs ahead of time and requested a window seat overlooking Tacoma and the port. We started with a glass of wine in the bar since we were early. After getting seated we had the artichoke crab dip which was very tasty and came with toasted bread. Followed with our main courses of prime rib and salmon with side of buttery mashed potatoes and green beans. The prime rib was spiced very well with minimal fat and a peppery crusting. Salmon was a little small on the portion size but was cooked property. The second entrée was a seafood pasta which was full of scallops, shrimp, clams, and mussels. Flavorful and plenty of seafood, the pasta was cooked perfectly and a very large portion. We were stuffed so no dessert.

The crab cakes are really good I forgot what else I ordered LOL but I’ve been here a few times. So if you are willing to spend some money and try this place out go for it

Best prime rib I’ve had in the area. The waitress was great! And I love the view of downtown Tacoma as well!

More of a comment than a full blown review… Stopped in for happy hour and tried the Brie with macadamia nut crust, and the steak & crab sliders. WOW! Very good. We will definitely be going back.

DONOTLEAVEVALUABLESINYOURCAR! I learned the hard way. That said: this Tacoma institution offers good food, great views, okay service, and genteel brass-and-wood atmosphere.

We went to Stanley and Seaport’s about 20 years ago and I remember seeing an amazing baseball size piece of steak being served as we were leaving. I asked what it was and remember being told it was the filet Mignon. So, when my wonderful husband surprised me tonight with dinner out for our 24th anniversary… I just had to get the filet Mignon. It completely lived up to my expectations! It was perfectly done and oh so tender. I added the dungeness crab with burnaisse sauce and it was the perfect compliment to the steak. Dinner was delicious and filling but I had to find room for dessert. We were celebrating after all. So, we ended the evening meal with their Banana Foster Sundae. I seriously wanted to lick the plate it was so good! This restaurant is definitely on the spendy side but it was well worth it. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing view, great service by Shawn G. and a delicious, memorable meal. I will definitely go back again. And, I’m not waiting 20 years this time.

Our first time coming here and I LOVED it!!!(only 4 stars because we found a hair in our food and hubby found the burger to be ok, but I will get to that!) I view is great(we went today and clear skies make looking out the window: FABULOUS!!!) and I love the look of the restaurant. Gives me a 1920’s vibe, I LOVE it!!! Our waitress, Erika — AWESOME!!! Ok, appetizer: fried calamari — first order had a hair in it, yuck! Quickly remedied the situation, apologized… BESTPART– EVERY person who served our food was bald there after!!! I found that OUTSTANDING(and HILARIOUS/AMUSING all at the same time)!!! The calamari itself was DELICIOUS! It came in as a pretty big portion with two sauces(aioli and blood Mary were yummy!), they aren’t skimpy with this appetizer! Hubby LOVED the fried artichoke that comes with the calamari… The best calamari we have had here in Washington! I ordered the Monte Cristo — LOVE — Crispy, not at all greasy, and was a HUGE serving!!!(Came with andouille sausage and rosemary potatoes — sooo GOOD!) Hubby ordered their burger, he said it was ok…(He is willing to go back again, so that counts for something??? — Like I always mention in my reviews, Ken is from New Orleans and is EXTREMELY picky about food! VERY hard to please, so if he’s willing to try a place a second time, something impressed him! In this case, the calamari and andouille sausage!) DESSERT: ok, Ken has tried key lime pie from almost every restaurant we go to searching for one that comes close to Florida’s — he really enjoyed theirs! It comes topped with lime zest-yummm(!) with a side of lime sorbet, smooth not gritty, like how some sorbets you can«feel» the sugar against your teeth… All in all, I really enjoyed this place… Definitely going back again!

I’ve gone to Stanley & Seaforts a few times over the years, this time was less than what I remember and expected. At first walk in, the smell was that of an old… well an old dirty restaurant, like the carpet had been wet for months. The women’s restroom floor was actually sticky. The bar staff was pleasant enough but the food was ‘less than.’ The calamari was fairly good but literally thrown onto the plate. The ‘tenderloins’ were pretty tough but the presentation on that one was good. No need for us to go back, we can get great views elsewhere.

The food deserves three stars «Service» one if any Me and my wife decided to go here for our anniversary today and all went well until about 5:30 and then we ceased to exist for our server. I guess happy hour ends at 5:30…I had to get my check myself and when we told our«waiter» he literally said, «ah…man» and walked away. Thanks for the apology and for being professional at such a «high class» resturant. The service here is a joke but the food is on point. Me and my wife will not be returning.

The view is wonderful. The food is exquisite! We came on a busy evening and there was an hour wait for a table, so we sat in the bar. There was only one server for the entire bar area. Needless to say, he was a bit busy! However, he didn’t lose his composure and did his best to make sure everyone was satisfied. Because of the volume of customers at the restaurant, the service was a bit slow. But, even so, it was wonderful. I’ve come here a couple of times and both times the food and service were wonderful. I can’t wait to go back.

The view is spectacular! The workers friendly but service was very very slow. Our food took a long time to come and it wasn’t busy either. When our meal finally arrived it was just okay. My daughters fish and chip was good. Ordered the steak and crab sliders with fries topped with cheese and bacon but the topping weren’t melted and all the toppings just fell off. Prices are a little deep for just O-Kay food

When I lived in WA, I was taken here on a first date and it was dark so I didn’t get a chance to observe the outdoor scenery. The service was great. I ordered a steak which was tasty. Tried clam chowder for the first time here and it was delicious. The lobster bisque was decent as well. The décor is older, for the price of the food and and service not sure why it’s so expensive unless the waterfront plays a big part. Glad to have been there with a great person across the table because if I wasn’t, the food and atmosphere would not have been enough to make me happy. Would I eat there again? No! Would I eat there again with that person? Yes! lol

The place and view is beautiful, but the food was very disappointing and especially for the price. I don’t mind spending money on food, but it has to be worth it and this was not. Even the couple behind us was disappointed with their food even though the waiter suggested it and said it taste amazing. The fresh oysters were okay besides me spitting out sand and chunks of shells for each oyster. I’m kinda picky about my oysters and I asked our waiter where these oysters were from because I like sweet and creamy taste to them. I know some people like the harsher, briny, cooper metallic taste(kusshi is my all time favorite) so he proceeds to tell me he doesn’t know what kind of oysters these are and they’re not very big and they can«rockerfeller» them for me. No brah I specifically said I was craving fresh oysters and that’s the reason I came here tonight. I don’t want them cooked. We ordered the salt rock prime rib it was delicious besides the huge chunks of salt that were still in the meat that we both bite into. My husband enjoyed it, but I must have gotten a big chunk, because it tasted like I just dump a half cup of salt in my mouth. Overall I’ll probably come back to try their happy hour, but to come back for a meal…
