Not a bad spot! The view in the deck of Mt. Rainier is fabulous. On a nice day it’s the perfect spot to have a beer and enjoy the view. We had the fried zucchini for an appetizer. It was really tasty! It was definitely hand breaded and come with a tasty ranch sauce. Highly recommend for an app. I had the French dip which was really good. It came with a small side salad. Overall, it was a good meal, service was also good.

Can’t give zero stars or I would. Rude rude rude staff. Wow, the most disrespect I’ve ever received.

Ah. Came here last year to watch a performance and basically babysit a friend. I’m very much not a pub person, so my review will definitely be flavored by that. It started off awkwardly since we couldn’t find a parking space for the longest but once we did, things became somewhat smoother. Service was not great, to be honest. I hate to be that person, but when the waitress was told that we wouldn’t be drinking, we were practically ignored. We had to flag down another waitress to even get a menu, and that wasn’t a great feeling at all. Later on, when we did order a few drinks, our original waitress became much more attentive. On the other hand, I loved the fried oysters. They were greasy salty perfection, and I adored them. I have dreams about them. I will probably come back just to soothe my craving again. The performers had fun even if they were a bit late. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, if a bit overwhelming. My main reserve with this place is the service.

I checked this place out with my girlfriend. We were meeting friends. When we arrived we had to wait to be seated even though the place was nearly empty. I ordered the grilled pastrami on rye with fries. My girlfriend ordered the burger dip. When our order came the pastrami had only one tasteless slice on it. I questioned the server about it. I was told. that the meat was portion controlled. Really? One thin slice. of pastrami is portion controlled? Tasted the burger. It was greasy and tasteless as well. The only thing that was edible were the fries. I gave it a one star ratong because tjere isn’t an option for less than that. I w ould not recommend this place to anyone.

The view was great, the food was amazing and the service was good. I am originally from California and i was craving for some Washingtonian chowder. Unfortunately they were all out when we got there around 3ish ]: I was kind off bummed that they don’t make enough for the rest of the night for everybody else to taste. So me and my husband decided to get the 2 chicken tortilla soup in a bread bowl instead. 1 minute later the server walked back to our table and told us there was only 1 bowl of soup left and it was tomato soup.(–____-) Really?! So we just ordered the Combo seafood basket with fried calamari and oyster. The food came quick but maybe bc there were only 4 customers inside. I was not disappointed with the crunch and taste of their fried seafood. In the basket contained 3 big pieces of fried oyster(juicy on the inside as soon as you take the first crunchy bite. YUM), few pieces of fried calamari and a good portion of deliciously seasoned fries. BTW, i don’t comprehend why customers complain about their fried food being«greasy.» Fried foods will always be geasy because it’s cooked in oil. Otherwise, just eat something else or somewhere else. I really like the ambience and taste of the food in this place. I just wished they made enough chowder for everybody that walks in the door! I was very disappointed /: The place also looks like a great hangout spot for some beers/alcohol beverages(optionally with food on the side) during sports game nights or days. I will be coming back here with my dear husband and hopefully by then we get to taste their chowder. As of now, 3 stars is what i’m going to give Rock the Dock for the average first impression P.S. **** IFYOUARENEWTOTOWNORWASHINGTION, MAKESUREYOUREADMYTIPFORROCKTHEDOCKREGARDINGTHEIRPARKINGLOT **** Enjoy your food & don’t drink and drive/ride!!!

Kitchen closes at 8:00 on a Friday night? Bad business model if you ask me. The staff was so ready to get out of there we got the stink eye when we walked in at 7:45 pm.

I would say this place is okay for beer only. It was dead inside, but I attribute that to most employer lunch time being over. I went in just before 2pm. I was promptly greeted and immediately stated I’d like to order the lunch special that I noted from the weekly list out by the entrance, went to restroom, then went outside to sit on the deck. Another waitress came out and took my beer order and assumed the first waitress placed my order that it wouldn’t be long before the meal came. Sampled the Rock The Dock and promptly received that. Roughly 10 mins went by half a beer later so I went inside to ask how long the special takes to make. Waitress said about 5 mins. So I asked where mine was, because the first waitress acknowledged my order when I placed it. Apparently she didn’t get the message to the server she passed me off too. The first waitress felt pretty bad and offered to buy me another beer which I gladly accepted. Once I received my order I was disappointed. First of all it ordinarily comes on a roll but she allowed me to order the pastrami on rye. The half sandwich looked good but I was disappointed on the chinciness of the meat. 1 cold tasteless slice. Its actually tasty if you heat it up. I guess I didn’t know what to expect. The soup was canned… I can tell so that was sad too. I would return for the beer and the waitress did try to make things right. I just figure for $ 2 more I could have gone to my fav sandwich shop for mounds of meat on my cheesesteak and actually enjoy it. Well I had to at least give this a go. Sometimes there are winners, sometimes not. I won’t need to go back with all the competition out there. 2 stars for prompt acknowledgment, trying to make the situation right and a decent beer. First impression not great.

If you’re a fan of this restaurant, you must love fried foods. Fried everything except the salad. Greasy, overcooked and just down right lame. I’d give it a negative 5 if it were possible. We went there because an out of town friend wanted to try it. NEVERAGAIN! Can you spell PATHETIC? Oh, did I neglect to mention the sand in my pan seared oysters? YUCK!

Came here for the first time. Its was live band night. Ok food when we ordered, the place was a bit sticky, it was very busy and the staff was curtious. We’ll give 3 stars for the food and 4 for the staff. Not bad, might have to take the bike down there again!

I went here for the second time last night with the boyfriend and the dog. We wanted to take the dog with us to eat so we picked this place for the outside seating on the patio. The patio is great and the view is beautiful! I had two Long Island ice teas and they were quite strong. Our waitress was funny, light hearted, and paid great attention to us. However the food was pretty gross :(We ordered fried mushrooms as an appetizer, which were fine. A little too fried for my liking but still yummy. Then we got a fried oyster and calamari basket with tator tots. The calamari was chewy and over all ok, nothing terrible but nothing good. Tots were mediocre, I think Sonic does a much better job with tots if that’s saying anything… The oysters were nasty! They were huge but they tasted gritty and slimy, ugh. I bit into one and it wasn’t clean :(Brown goop everywhere :(My stomach was very upset after that meal and it still is. And I’m known for my stomach of steel. I’d say come here for a beer and to enjoy the view but I will not be coming back for the food. I’m really sad about this, it’s a great location and if the food was good I’d be a regular!

a Nice Place with a big patio and nice views of that marine, however they need to improve their drinks because they say that they have a «full bar» but its really limited The food is really Good for a «pub place» so far.

They have outside seating and they allow dogs there. What more can I say? We looked for a place that would take dogs and they had it. Typical bar menu; my wife had clam strips and I had fish and chips. The food was good and fresh. The clams were large and plentiful. It’s on the waterway, so you can park your boat and come in for a bite to eat. We’ll come back and bring our dogs again.

This place has an absolutely fantastic location on the waterfront. The wait staff and bar tenders are really nice and the food is fairly good too, with all the pub food classics. Their beer selection is also very complete with many northwest classics and some brews from some lesser known breweries. My primary issue with Rock The Dock, and the reason I will never again step foot in this establishment is the type of customers that frequent the place and the type of people they tolerate there. Every time I have been here, I have heard filthy, vulgar, and racist talk coming from some very unsavory people. I was there this weekend with my wife and mother in law. We sat outside, which was nice. Also present was a crew from one of the local motorcycle clubs. After enough comments about pu**ies, and references to f**king this and f**king that and vulgar talk of women’s periods and the such, we got up and sat inside. We finished our food and beverages and left, never to return. Maybe it’s just that type of place, but if they continue to let in low life, bottom rung, wanna be gangsters and thugs, they will continue to loose business. Nuff said.

This place has the world as its oyster… but it chooses to settle for cheep shortcuts. Tots were greasy, service was cranky… and the overall feel a bit shoddy. This restaurant is about a mile away from the sweet spot of the Tacoma waterfront which is littered with great eateries. This alone should give them a reason to up their game. The deck is fantastic, the view is breathtaking and the potential is endless. I just hope they refocus and make this a worthwhile destination.

Amazing service, incredibly friendly staff, amazing location right on the water and good food. We went here for lunch and were impressed with all of the above. It’s pub food, but they have a ton of options, all very reasonably priced. It’s a bit tucked away, but that just makes it a hidden treasure, right?!

My wife and I definitely love this place. Great food, great beer, great service, and as boaters, the fact that there’s a dock out back, just makes it perfect.

Great spot in Tacoma! We sat outside, as the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Had a local brew, Mac & Jack’s Black Cat Porter, and it was a great espresso-type dark beer. For eats we had clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl(ahhhmazing) and the seafood basket with fried oysters and calamari. Everything was delicious. I’m salivating now just thinking about it! The leftover bread bowl was a perfect snack for our giant seagull friends, but don’t share your food from the seating area(because the seagulls will tell all their friends). Walk down the dock a bit if you want to feed them.

An bar that serves the traditional bar food favorites, provides water views, and has the beer basics covered. Comments about the service /servers seem a little overblown – no issues with the pace or friendliness. Onion rings were fine and the turkey Reuben was OK. Draft beers were not as plentiful as you’d like, but plenty of bottles. May return if in the area.
