No redeeming quality. OK food but definitely nothing special. I ordered the special, prawns with spinach and linguini. Seemed to have a lemon flavor to the sauce. Husband ordered the chopped smoked salmon penne with mushrooms and a creamy garlic sauce. He did not care for it, he said it was lacking flavor. We decided to come here because a few of our friends love it and said a highlight is the blue cheese dressing. Blue cheese dressing was good but I have had better. Bread bowl is served without an oil dipping bowl or butter. The bread itself was very generic and we were not given a bread plate. Nothing on the menu seemed special. Will not return.

Pomodoro is our family’s favorite place to go for a fun, delicious dinner out. The food and service here are consistently excellent, and if ever there is any issue, it’s corrected promptly by the friendly waitstaff. If you can, ask for Elliott — he’s our favorite server! The Chicken Christopher is a must-try, as are the Smoked Salmon Penne and the delectable fried green beans. I always get the side salad with house-made bleu cheese dressing; it’s to die for. Honestly, though, I don’t think I’ve ever ordered an item off their menu that I didn’t like. Drinks and desserts are always perfect, too. If you’re dining in Proctor, Pomodoro is the way to go!

Delicious food and courteous service. Best Italian so far. My only issue was the shabby décor.

I have been here once before — my mom wanted to eat here again(Sunday January 31, 2016) myself not so much. It was kinda a senior place if you will,!as if they just weren’t trying anymore– maybe Fab at one time:) Charming store front, however the musty smell as you walk in– not what you you want to smell for your first impression, Italian eateries should smell of garlic and herbs E.g.(When walking in with eyes closed; the cooking fragrance should be bread, warm clean garlic and herbs) unfortunately not here, the building is old but no excuse for the smell The décor, dated and dark… wouldn’t take much for a quick update:) That is a suggestion! You should try a refresh in the main house. I had the Linguine and clams or Moe’s Favorite, and please– the seasonings were kinda nice and pasta cooked nicely, though I didn’t care for the seasoning stalks of the herb in the butter sauce, I had to pull out of the pasta(4 chunky herb stalks, they were not edible or intended garnish) Roma tomatoes had seeds and were tough. The amount of clams… okay, maybe a bit over priced for the quantity. My mothers meal was really tasty, seasonings clean and all cooked perfectly. Actually a potion of large scale– Tricolore Tortellini, she really enjoyed but really heavy and salty… too much gorgonzola but the spinach was still fresh– not overcooked in the heavy sauce, a great reprieve from the heavy handed cheese. They could scale back on the portion and still have a decent meal. The bread served was of low quality and soft, like an Albertsons grocery grade, great for the seniors but the bread was subpar, I expect a fantastic fragrant rustic option as well. Minestrone Soup was odd– again flavor is okay, almost good– however it was only broth and chunks of canned tomatoes. There were no beans of any kind, green or other and no pasta(which is regional) for the pasta. I wished it would have been better-I love Minestrone as a go to, but this was a let down for sure. The Coffee was old school watered down Farmers or Boyd’s like? –sad because there so many good options that should be attached to a quality Italian home or eatery. I ordered a coffee and took one sip, it sat and was still on our bill, she never asked how it was or if I wanted more or a replacement beverage. It just sat there, mocking me. The waitress was annoyed with my moms questions and maybe slow speech delivery, however her stage 4 cancer and treatments has her running slower than most. Waitress actually rolled her eyes and was very short with us– she was Not busy, I know she had a 6top and a family of 4 besides us, and 2 couples left after being seated but never ordered, prices? She was not busy and she not was she taking and making our orders– so her attitude was not warranted. I will say that she did change her tune halfway thru our meal and was more kind and attentive. We did leave a nice tip and my mom took home her leftovers– What ever mama I love Proctor and want them to be better! So much possibility here, however I will not spend money here again. The pasta bar at Metropolitan Marketbreaks my heart to say– is bettersorry Clean up your food, presentation and old timey building smell and I would consider trying again-m-a-y be? Que. no– sorry, no Italiano 3 Stars I guess Lori S.

Yes! Finally found a good, quality restaurant in TACOMA that serves great Italian fare! Yes, they make their own Blu Cheese, which is amazing. The service was excellent, too! My only gripe: Paper napkins??? Nice flatware, though. Definitely will return until I’ve tried everything on their menu.

LOVED the clam chowder. Hands down, BEST I’ve ever had. Minestrone was good, Spaghetti and meatballs were delicious and the dish my boyfriend had was amazing as well though I can’t remember what it was called. Service was quick, attentive and polite. I have been drooling to go back for that clam chowder and the spaghetti!

I have been coming to this restaurant for years, it us always great. I have gotten a lot of recommendations for«not to be missed» Italian resturants and every time I go I am disappointed because, well it is nothing like Pomodoro. The food is always fresh and waitstaff pleasant. I have had a wide variety of items on the menu and sm always happy with whatever comes out! This is for sure a leftovers restaurant so even though I have heard from people that they think it is pricey I say it’s two great meals so whatever. If you are in Tacoma, take it from a local and do not miss this place!

Since I have lived in the neighborhood for almost three years I figured I should try this Italian restaurant out. I will reserve my star rating for later. I wanted a nice quiet self«date night» and thought since I live Italian food this is where I should come. My first emotion was«Damn! This place is loud, glad I didn’t bring a romantic date. I was seated promptly to a comfortable«two top» and the server, Christine was prompt in attending to me. I asked for a Manhattan and an appetizer of calamari. Which were brought to my table with haste. The calamari was some of the best prepared I’ve ever had, however the aioli sauce was mediocre at best. The salad was brought before I finished the appetizer and the Manhattan. I had read in another review that the blue cheese was excellent but in my opinion is was bland and without any«bite» at all. Very disappointed. I ordered the Prawns Milano and although the flavor was excellent it was kind of mush mess. Two pieces of bland gorgonzola, and two hints of artichoke. When I had finished my dinner, I asked for no dessert but an espresso. They don’t serve espresso! In my opinion this is not an Italian Restaurant but a simple café that calls its dishes Italian sounding names.

I really like this place! I’ve been on a very busy night with a wait and on a quiet night with only three tables full and received the same great service and food. My first visit I had the halibut supreme. It was rich and delicious. My second visit I had the chicken parm. Pretty good for an old standard. I also had enough for lunch the next day. The delicious homemade pasta really adds to the dishes, someone knows what they’re doing! They also mix a nice cocktail, have nice wines and deserts. The staff has always been cheery and attentive. This is a great place for a family get together or small group dinner. I’m going to visit more often.

A tale of two restaurants… Started the evening heading to Pomodoros. Why you ask — good question. Was greeted by the host who asked if we had a reservation and when we didn’t acted shocked. It is fair question but no need to be rude. This is Pomodoros not a Michelin star restaurant. She asked us to wait a moment then ignored us as helped three people who came in after us including others without reservations. After adjusting her ear piece and walking off again without helping us. Why an ear piece. for a restaurant with 15 tables… Good question. We had to eventually ask if she was going to help us… PAUSE. Okay if you can’t tell we left Pomodoros and don’t plan on a return. So what about Europa right around the corner. Perfection. Reminded us why we are never disappointed. When walked in employee greeted us warmly and moments later the owner Alfonzo welcomed us. Warm, vibrant, friendly and great food. And they were just as busy. Just a different way in treating customers. Pomodoros should send someone over and intern on how to run a restaurant. I had the spaghetti and meatballs always wanted to try but seems boring. It wasn’t. Homemade meatballs bring tears of joy and rich tomato sauce with perfectly cooked pasta. My wife had baked gnocchi with crab and Gorgonzola. Thank you to Alfonzo and Europa for turning around an evening that started off poorly. So if ever considering dinner at Pomodoros turn corner and those 20 steps will be best decision you make.

It was good. We were looking for a different place but found this one. Our waiter was nice but alot of the staff was pretty snooty… We waited to long for anyone e to come to our table to just get drinks started. After that things went pretty smooth. The stuffed mushrooms were the best I have had. If the staff were more friendly they most definitely would of got 5 stars from me.

Best Italian in Tacoma! Not to offend any other Italian restaurants in the local area because there are a few that almost as good, but overall Pomodoro is the first place I take guests if they are in the mood for Italian food. It is not a very large place so seating can be a pain, but usually it moves pretty quick. During the summer they have limited seating outside which can be very nice on a warm day. Now lets talk food if they have it get the halibut, but if you are in the mood for something more traditional then hands down the chicken carbonara. Even if you are hungry you will not be able to finish it and makes for an incredible next meal. Like I have mentioned in other reviews, this meal is one of those you have craving for, it is that good. I have wondered off the carbonara a few times and every meal I have had was very good if not excellent. Also service has always very good, quick, and polite and Pomodoro is just a nice, quaint, local restaurant. Check them out you will not be disappointed at all!

Just WOW! We have been looking for a quality Italian dining establishments and are quite pleased! The halibut special with prawn and mushroom was succulent! The girls had large portions of pasta they really enjoyed and the caramel cheesecake was exquisite! Ventured in on a recommendation from a friend and have finally found our«go-to» Italian! Thanks!

I have only been here once, but based on the Prawns Milano I had ordered, I’m giving 5 stars because it was absolutely delicious! Definitely want to go back for this pasta again. It was pretty busy when we went, but still got great customer service.

Pomodoro was definitely a step up from the last Italian restaurant I went to in town within the same week. The food here just seems more flavorful and fresh than many other restaurants around town. The garden salad was very good as well as the Caprese sandwich I had. The service was prompt and was on top of any potential needs that may arise. The restaurant is located in a nicer area in town and was relaxing.
