Great view of the SeaTac area, harbor, and all of the fixin’s you will need for a relaxing moment on the pier, and marina. Cool air, fresh air, I wanted to bottle up the air it was so clean, nice. Serenity in a place I didn’t know existed until I visited Seattle/Tacoma and was taken on a tour. I am appauled at myself for not coming here, and experiencing this place. I suggest you add this to your tourism destinations for places to see, experience, eat, drink, relax.

I love walking, jogging or rollerblading this strip. Sometimes it gets a little ghettofied with homies cruize’n the strip but the police are pretty good about stopping that action. It is a good dive spot too. Night dives here in mid summer are beautiful.

Really enjoy walking up and down the Ruston Way Waterfront. As other Unilocalers have said, parking is fairly easy to find. Plus it’s free– bonus! On nice days and the weekends, it does get tight but it usually doesn’t take long for a space to free up. This is a great place to get exercise and take your dog for a nice, long walk. There’s plenty of places to stop for a spell and drink in the view(the VIEW! it really is lovely and since the Tacoma Aroma is somewhat a thing of the past, this place is enjoyable most days). The Les Davis Pier is kind of the mid point of the waterfront. There’s a cool Chinese Pagoda to the east of the Pier. Several nice restaurants dot the waterfront. There’s a place to grab an ice cream cone –and then walk those calories off =). There’s beach and pier ruins to check out. There’s also an old fireboat you can walk around and touch. Kids love to look at the fireboat. Also, you aren’t too far from Old Town. Park up by the Spar, walk down to the Ruston Way Waterfront for a nice, leisurely walk. Then hike back up the hill to listen to some good music at the Spar while you sip on a brew and gaze out on Commencement Bay. A day like that is chock fun of WIN!

Tacoma waterfront… how I love thee! The Les Davis Pier is right in the heart of the Ruston Way waterfront action! It has excellent parking and has restaurants within a short walking distance. The pier itself is beautiful and fun to check out… you can sometimes see jelly fish from the pier. There are usually people fishing out there, and it’s also a great place to just sit and relax. The pier also happens to be right next to a boardwalk, which stretches all the way up and down Ruston Way. I believe the entire boardwalk is about a 2-mile stretch so it is perfect for walking or jogging. I’ve enjoyed walking/jogging with my dog along the boardwalk and also with friends. There are lots of lights along the street so it’s safe enough to go for a walk/jog at night too… I’ve done this quite a bit actually! There are also beachy areas along the boardwalk, which I highly recommend checking out! And if you haven’t tried some of the local restuarants, you are missing out! This is one of my favorite places for relaxing and for exercising so my advice to you is to go see it… and enjoy! :)

This is a great place to walk, bike or roller blade as you enjoy the outstanding Tacoma waterfront. Scenic views of Mt. Rainier can be seen on clear Pacific Northwest days and the pier is a local favorite for dock fishing.

So the fam and I went to this Park. The temperature was just right, not to hot and not to cold. However, it was a little windy, but we did not mind. The kids brought their fishing poles and tried to fish. We turned up empty handed. As the kids were fishing, I looking around the area. It was a beautiful scenery. I forgot to grab my camera because I was helping the kids with their fishing poles and admiring the scenery. There was someone parasailing with a neon pink parachute and two other people were standing on their canoes and paddling through the water. The kids and I tried fishing for a while but were not successful. So we got off the dock and walked around towards another dock to try again. As we walked around, there was a nice little area that us grown folks talked that we would like to come back soon. The pathway that we walked on was busy with walkers, joggers, dogs being walked, and great restaurants in the neighborhood, so I have been told. I have not eaten at any of the restaurants because this was our first time there. But to save money, we decided that when we go back which more than likely would be this weekend, we would do a picnic/bbq type thing. They had little areas where you could do picnics. They also had bbq grills. My son was excited when he saw the grill, because the next time we go, he wants to catch, clean, and grill his fish. I have to remember next time to have my camera in my pocket. Til next time.

The Ruston Way Waterfront is full of great parks, a wide boulevard full of walkers, joggers, rollers, and strollers of every possible age and description. This stretch of the shoreline has some of the widest green spaces, and some of the coolest landscaping. The Lobster Shop is just north of here, and, on nice days, the whole strip floods with people. On glorious weekend days, parking is probably easier here than most parts of the waterfront, which is to say that if you get lucky, you might get a spot. You can relax and drink in views of Commencement Bay and Browns Point here. It’s a great, great setting.

A really lovely spot along Commencement Bay as you head towards Point Defiance from Tacoma. It is a Grade A fishing pier complete with covered overhangs and benches. Even instructions for different types of fishing. On a clear Winter day, the views were beautiful… to the left towards Puget Sound. Looking back towards Tacoma was not so pretty. A trail extends all along Marine Park for miles and it was lovely to see people out running, biking and walking dogs in this gorgeous area. Another nice little attraction is Fireboat No. 1(a National Historic Monument) which adjoins the pier. We saw another active fireboat in the bay that day, so it completed a very pretty picture.
