Great place to come to start a vinyl collection or find some of those missing gems. Everything an Audiophile needs under one roof

Superb. Excellent selection of records in many genres, as well as turntables, receivers, and speakers. And the owner really knows his stuff.

Very friendly service. They took a look at my record player and fixed it in 5 minutes. They also didn’t change me since it was a very simple fix. What a great place… and wow wow wow I will be back to buy records.

There are a host of record shops just off of 6th in Tacoma and I walked to most of them on a bright, summer day. While many were pretty much written off as a «miss» because a) they specialized in one genre that I was not too terribly interested in(an oldies record shop) or b) the selection just seemed limited. Maybe I am just spoiled with having a good selection of whatever I may be looking for. In the case of records I found here at House of Records! The place is a decent size and pretty much every inch of the space is filled with records, turntables and other equipment. The amount of merchandise in here is completely overwhelming. If you are not looking for anything specific then all you can really do is wonder around in awe and do your best to find your self out of such a magical vinyl forest, providing that you want to. My impression factor was completed when I found the Public Image Limited album, 9. Not trying to make a pun out of something but there is nothing really alll that limited here as far as selection goes.

Great place! I couldn’t believe how much vinyl this place had or how many turntables and amps. I went in looking for a vintage turntable and was greeted by a very helpful person who picked out several that met my needs. I also bought a vintage amp to go along with it. I loved that it was all tested before I left and it sounds great now that I have it home. I can’t wait to go back to add some music to my collection.

Found this record store by mistake and I am so happy I did! I got to spend time with the owner Peter and talk about the evolution of music formats throughout the years and how it now has come full circle with vinyl. The selection is ridiculously massive and I felt a bit overwhelmed so as I went down my laundry list of wants I asked Peter and he actually knows where everything is located! This is what I bought: The clash Joni Mitchell — blue The velvet underground & Nico Buckingham Nicks The prices were great and they have a deal if you save $ 100 in receipts you get in store credit! They also have extensive knowledge about turntables and how to repair, replace and fix!

I am just now getting into vinyl, and the guys here are awesome. Not only did they help put together an affordable, used system for me; they also gave me some good deals on records. The customer service here is amazing. The only reason it is lacking a star is because there is not a lot of new records or styles of music. I would highly suggest anyone interested in vinyl to check out this place!

Charming, filled with character, and run by helpful owners. What more can you ask for? The prices are fare, they have frequent Sunday sales, and when you spend $ 100 you get $ 20 in free vinyl. This is one of the great record stores in Tacoma, and in my opinion the best. If you have any interest in collecting records give it a shot.

This store is awesome! I visit it every chance I get. My first time in, i wasn’t sure about the selection of equipment, which is fine, because vinyl is obviously their specialty, however I later realized that they are an authorized dealer of many different brands and actually carry quite a bit of mid to higher end gear. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and is always happy to offer great advice and share his knowledge. What I respect most is the fact that they put the love of music and vinyl collecting before trying to get into your wallet. That’s something you just don’t see anymore these days and it makes every visit a pleasure.

I went here the other day to look for a vinyl, the guy was very friendly and helpful, although I didn’t find what I was looking for. It is a rare record, so I’m not mad about that. I’ll be coming back here when I need some records and equipment.

The gentleman working there was very helpful. The selection is lacking on some new artists that I was specifically looking for, but the used inventory is massive. I picked up 5 used albums all in fantastic shape. This is a great place to go if you have a turntable and need cleaning or parts.

Having been around the«Audiophile«block a few times, I stumbled onto this place and all I can say is WOW, It is clear that Peter(owner) is driven by music, and the audio gear he sells, is chosen for how it sounds with music, NOT sounds and thumps and thuds from some test cd played to showcase how low it can go etc… not only is the record selection deep and wide, but the guys that work their are top notch good people, They also have extensive knowledge and selection of vintage QUALITY hi-fi components. If you are looking to get a stereo set up, or are tired of having salesmen tell you that without the$ 2000 freeze dried isolation vacuum pump super feet under you’re amp it just wont sound good, then drop in for sound advice and a listen!

I’ve wanted to get back into vinyl, but I haven’t been able to find a good place to find solid mid-range hardware with knowledgeable people to help me make the right selection. Until today, that is. I found Turntable Treasures online and noticed they carried a model I had been considering, so I drove down from Seattle to check them out. Holy cow, what a great place! The guys there were helpful, provided great feedback and even talked me down a level from what I thought I wanted — saving me $ 100 I was perfectly ready to part with(when’s the last time a sales person took less money than you were ready to spend?) On top of that, with the purchase of a new turntable, they give you $ 100 free vinyl from their massive(120,000LP!) selection. I really can’t say enough. I’ll be going back in the future, no question about it. (Check out my review of Asado — a couple blocks away — if you want another reason to make the trip down from Seattle)

If what you’re looking for is classical music on vinyl, this is your place. I don’t know how to characterize the rest of the vinyl collection but it’s vast. If you’re looking for advice on, repair of, or shopping for(home) turntables, this is the place. There is a strange array of equipment for sale. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with the higher prices on some of the lower-end stuff but it’s probably the only place one could buy used and actually have service and a return policy. I think the store would do well to have a more liquid stock(and certainly better organized). I went in looking for a power amp and there were none. If they bought and sold on e.g. Craigslist they probably could build their market. But it’s a fascinating place.
