U-Haul Moving & Storage of Midtown

Steer clear! Made a reservation for a truck 3 weeks in advance. They called me the day before to tell me they had nothing for me. I planned my entire move out of state around this. They gave me some line about how reservations are based on availability. Apparently 3 weeks isn’t enough time to make sure a truck is available. Budget is way better.

I rented a cargo van to move some vermin and found the staff quite agreeable and arrangement quick and easy. I would never willingly drive a van that large again, but if I had to I would hope it was as nice and new and clean as the one I rented there.
Staff is pretty in your face no nonsense and fast at their job. You get your gear and go in less than five minutes pretty much.
I am very familiar with this part of town and it does not scare me, although I am but a 5’3 140lb suburban housewife. I would rent here again without a doubt.
Minus one star for that vans enormousness and my inability to reverse. h

The staff was fine — some nice, others quite incompetent, but this facility is shady to say the least (think: horror-​movie-​caliber abandoned doll factory sectioned-​off to make rooms onto which you can slap locks).
The facility is also rather poorly kept. It’s an old building that’s in disarray, is obviously never cleaned, has degrading wood beam floors that are patched with sheets of metal that are bolted down to cover goodness-​knows-​what and when I came to close out my storage unit account, there I found a heap of dead vermin and bugs covering a sticky pad literally right outside of my storage unit door (it had obviously been there a while, but honestly if you’re catching full-​sized rodents, pick the thing up instead of leaving it out for customers to see!).
Considering all of these things, the monthly cost of a standard 10′ storage unit was absolutely not value-​priced to reflect these things. In the end, I stored my personal items here for a few months and retrieved them without issue, so I do have to give them at least that much credit since, at the end of the day, that’s all you truly need out of a storage space. Basically, it did the trick, but I’d never come back and you should know what you’re getting into.
