We had dinner at The Chop Block last night for the first time and we’ll definitely consider returning. Service was excellent, attentive and food and drinks came out promptly. We started with the crab cakes, light and delicious. I find most places jam pack their crab cakes with stuffing and just stuff and these were fantastic. Our cobb salad was enough for us to split, fresh and crunchy, who doesn’t love a cobb salad? Our entrée’s were the cowboy steak, cooked perfectly, good char and super juicy with a side of potatoes. I ordered their special, the lamb chops with a sweet and spicy sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The lamb was cooked perfectly and although the sauce was delicious, it was spicy and so much so that it overpowered the taste of the lamb and the garlic potatoes. I am a fan of spicy food but I can see how someone could have an issue with how spicy it was. For dessert we shared the crème brulee which didn’t disappoint either. Ambiance was lovely, we were in room with the fire place and our entertainment was a table of 5 people next to us who took the amount of time it took us to eat our entire meal to split up a bill between the 5 of them and I must say their waiter was incredibly patient and worked with them until they painfully figured out how to divvy each and every cent.

This is really a 4.5 star review. The service was excellent, the food was outstandingly prepared and the presentation was very nice. My only recommendation would be enhancing the ambience. For example, install hardwood flooring and replace the ceiling tile with a true ceiling.

This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Syracuse. The lobster bisque was creamy and had a generous amount of fresh lobster chunks. I had the short rib with grits and it was absolutely delicious. The grits were cooked with NY white cheddar and the short rib was succulent and fell apart so easily. My fiancé had the sirloin which was just as succulent and the spinach Pinot noir demi glaze really brought the dish together. We had the raspberry mouse to finish the night and it was light and airy and you could definitely tell that it was fresh and homemade. Aside from the spectacular food, the service was superb. Our waiter Randy was friendly and knowledgeable and gave great recommendations(especially regarding the raspberry mouse). The ambience was romantic with a fire pit on the middle of the restaurant and white lights around the giant windows. I would highly recommend! My tip would be to make a reservation as we came and the restaurant was pretty full.

I’m very surprised by the other reviews for this restaurant; we were underwhelmed. I decided to get a burger because I’ve been disappointed by signature – and generally expensive – dishes at most restaurants. I figured this would be a test: if the chef can’t finesse a burger, they’re probably not that good preparing other food. Turns out, getting the $ 11 burger instead of the $ 25 to $ 30 steak was a safer way to go. The bun was like any 8-pack burger bun you can get at Wegmans; flavorless and boring. My daughter’s and my medium-rare burgers were actually cooked medium to medium-well. My daughter’s french fries were also mediocre; some of the fries were raw, all were soggy. My husband got the pork tenderloin which was overcooked and dry(as he said, it wasn’t cooked as well as I do it). Desserts were okay; my husband and daughter got the raspberry mousse and I got a crème anglaise tart. I had assumed the tart would be baked so the crème anglaise would have a custard texture(that’s what it looked like on the dessert tray we were shown). Instead, it was a crème anglaise sauce – which tasted okay but had to be eaten like soup. When I cut into the pastry the crème anglaise ran all over the plate and couldn’t be eaten. I don’t mind paying more than $ 100 for a meal but I want it to be good, better than what I make at home. This didn’t even come close.

I’ve been here twice now. Both times the meals exceeding expectations. The short ribs are to die for and the twin lobster tails so succulent. No drawn butter needed! The glowing, warm fireplace in the center of the dining room adds the final touch of a superb dining experience.

Our first time there. Solid food, cooked fairly. I had the 14 ounce veal chop. It was at least that big, probably bigger. Ordered medium, though arrived closer to rare/medium rare. I generally don’t send food back, but like the option. The server was the weakest link, never coming back to the table after delivering the entrees. Also noticed other servers offering fresh ground black pepper and bread refills, but not ours. Also we had the lobster mac and cheese. Good but served luke warm, at best. Great atmosphere, with a nice fire. It’s a do over, but will hope for a different server and warmer food.

Ok 5 seems high, but I must say the steak was superb yes really cooked to absolute perfection! Randy our waiter was casual but professional, a refreshing approach. Delicious experience that far outweighs the locations predecessors. Enjoyable !

Had Dinner here twice. Food is excellent. Pleasant and helpful Staff. I’ve had the Tenderloin Steak and it’s terrific, cooked to order with a nice char. My wife swears by the Short Ribs. Desserts are homemade and delicious I’m delighted that these owners have opened at this location, which is a longtime favorite spot in the Town of Dewitt. I wish them success and from my experience so far they should do well.
