Well, the staff was friendly, and they had a refrigerator in the room, and firm beds to sleep on. That is all I can say. Unfortunately the room was very dirty and to say the least. I do not recommend this hotel if dirt or dried random things on the walls would bother you. Some people don’t care. My husband even commented on how bad it was. I will include some pictures.

We arrived at the Carrier Circle roundabout in Syracuse after dark on May 25, 2015 and had a terrible time finding the Comfort Inn. It is tucked in behind a Howard Johnson Motel whose orange roof is totally caved in. The Comfort Inn Carrier Circle is bordered by the derelict Howard Johnson on one side and blocks and blocks of empty pavement; nothing is alive or moving for 12 blocks in any direction except one sad McDonald’s. Before I ventured into the lobby, we drove around the entire motel. Really grim!!! Curtains on the first 2 floors are pushed oddly against the windows; no lights were on in any of them the rooms that we could see. There was only 1 other car in the entire parking lot besides a truck in the back. When I walked into the lobby, the two women at the desk were talking to a man about taking a room with another trucker for $ 31.00. They mentioned that the elevators weren’t working. The older woman was certainly friendly and efficient enough, but she had a tooth missing, which added to the macabre atmosphere I’m sure. I said: «We can’t stay here tonight; we just do not feel safe here.» Because it was before 6 pm, this clerk said she would gladly cancel my reservation. [WE had planned to stay 4 nights.] She did send me a cancellation email right away. Truly, it was like walking onto an abandoned planet where everyone had fled. We booked another motel across the river and began learning about what’s going on in much of Syracuse. I would especially caution women NOT to stay at this Comfort Suites. When I read the reviews on the Comfort Inn website, many verified my intuitions. However, those that were raves defy credibility. I really feel Choice Hotels should drop this motel from their franchise; turn it into a discount hotel for truckers at best.

It is very dated, fairly dingy, and about what you’d expect from a hotel near the airport in Syracuse. Everything was clean enough, the bed was not the most comfortable but it was somewhere to sleep for the night. No real complaints, but I’ve stayed in much nicer, newer hotels. Im starting to think that old hotels need to start knocking 10% off their base rates for every 10 years they’ve been open.

This is the second year that my club booked half the hotel. Last year, half the outlets in the rooms wouldn’t work, we had mold in our shower and there wasn’t any hot water. We decided to give them another chance this year since we had heard the new owner had put in a lot of improvements. Things weren’t any better, still no hot water, the rooms have a horrible odor, and the service was terrible. My husband is a diamond member with choice hotels and they would do nothing to help us with the hot water issue. Unfortunately, our club will not be coming back next year.

I liked this place. I think the people who wrote the poor reviews just wanted to complain or had that one in a million bad experience. The room was clean and inviting. The lobby was new and modern. The breakfast buffet was kinda slim pickins, but still had enough to put a little something in your stomach. The WIFI was very good though.

Granted it was a packed weekend with syracuse move in & the ny state fair– this place is awful and a huge scientific experiment. If there is anywhere else to stay, do so. The first room they showed us stunk of cigarette smoke & we had requested a non smoking room and I have asthma, they moved us to the room next door which had black mold on the ceiling. We returned after dinner and although they promised to run their ion machine in our current room that did not happen so they moved us to the third floor. They claimed this room were as allergy free as it gets at this facility… Well, this took the cake… Within 20 minutes I lost my voice and was coughing incessantly. My young kids said that it still stunk and they began coughing as well. They tolerated these issues because I couldn’t have my entire family sleep in the car, but I could not survive as by now I was bright red and had no voice– I slept in the car. Although the staff felt badly and try to be accommodating by getting me a sheet I still slept in the car and watched the all night comings and goings of the area. In the morning, upon check out, my husband, who’s business is environmental in nature, showed the staff the black mold pictures easily visible from the peeling wallpaper & you can only image what was behind it… If you have any allergies stay anywhere else, we did not stay for breakfast as we couldn’t wait to leave.
