First off just want to say the food at this establishment is excellent. My reason for the poor review focuses mainly on the service. Every time i have been here i have received nothing but bad attitudes and dirty looks, including the owner himself who acts like he is doing you a favor.

To start with this place is very busy, not sure if that’s because there’s very few good delis anywhere near here or because the food is good. Well it wasn’t good for me. I ordered a sausage Parmesan hero, large, to me that big of a hero is not necessary, I never complain about a meal being too large but I’d rather have quality not quantity. The sausages themselves were very very poor quality, the bread with the sauce was OK. I also would rather wait 10 minutes and get my food hot then have it in two minutes and barely be room temperature. I would stop back if I’m in the area but I would never go out of my way.

This place has the best chicken cutlet sandwich. The breakfast here is also amazing! Love this place

Great sandwiches especially the George bush which is s chicken cutlet, bacon, mayo, tomatoes & lettuce. My only pet peeve about this place is that the owner doesn’t know how to spell.

I love village heroes. They have great sandwiches with high quality ingredients. The staff is friendly, funny, and willing to customize your order any way you like it. Simple food, great experience. I often stop here for lunch when I drop my son off for Tennis practice at the nearby Sport Time facility.

If you’re hungry and want a hero, this is the place to be! I ordered a large wild willy. The hero was literally the size of my arm(from my finger tips to my elbow) The wild willy is one of the popular sandwiches here. It’s basically chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomato and mayo. I added bacon, American cheese and Russian dressing. Bomb!!! They will let you add anything you want in their speciality sandwiches. Came out to $ 14 and they do accept credit card. The wait time was about 10 minutes during lunch time. Which isn’t that bad considering there was about 50 people ahead of me. There’s plenty of parking space in their lot and also Ralph’s is located right next door if your in the mood for dessert after. Definitely recommended and I will be back!

Awesome place for sandwiches and wraps! Big portions and decently priced! I wouldn’t recommend eating in during the summer months though. They don’t have air conditioning, but they do have a few fans.

Picked up a delicious roast beef sandwich here. It was a substantial size for $ 12. Definitely enough for 2 people or 2 meals. Definitely a to-go type of place.

A small place with great sandwiches. I would suggest their chicken Parmesan not only because it’s amazing, but they overstuff it so even if you get a half you’ll be very satisfied. My only complaint is that if you’re planning to eat there on a hot, summer day, don’t. They have no ac and maybe one fan but anyways they make yummy sandwiches.

Pictures look way better than the food. Got the classic hero(ham, turkey, roast beef). The meat was poor quality, and for some reason had a fishy after taste. The large size was huge, definitely enough to feed 2 – 3 people/meals. I would give this place another shot, just bc of how good the pics look, but won’t expect much.

Wow every sandwich I’ve had here has been amazingly tasty and huge. Best hero shop on the island by far. Even when i ate the Italian sandwich a day later it was still awesome and fresh, love their bread

I’m giving 3 stars solely based on the prices of the establishment. Expect to walk out with a $ 13 to 15 bill if you want a large sandwich. Sure you will only be able to eat half due to the enormous portions, but $ 15 is a lot for a hero. Meat is very good quality, very fresh and tasty. But again, if I have to pay additional fees to add cheese or condiments something is wrong here. Pastrami/corn beef mix with Russian dressing and Swiss was $ 15.XX. At that price I rather go to My Hero and buy 2 sandwiches. My two cents. Small dinky looking hole in the wall. Would eat on a very rare occasion. If you want a cheap sandwich go elsewhere.

Tough to assign a star rating here, because what am I comparing it to? If I compare it to other breakfast and lunch take out places(that may or may not have some seating), I have to go with 5 stars. Comparing it to other sit down lunch spots, I would go with 4. As I ONLY get take out here, that is what I have decided to compare it to. Upside: Huge and very tasty sandwiches at a reasonable price. I have had both the breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches. They are always OVERstuffed. I have enjoyed every sandwich I have ever had here. The half sandwich is more than enough for almost anyone. Since the closing of the Brush Hollow Rd Deil there is really nothing like this near me(in Jericho). Its much better than Subway, and you get more bang for your buck than at Bagel Boss. Downsides(all minor): the side salads are fair at best(although why bother with them, when the food is so good and plentiful?). The counter set up for ordering and paying is less than ideal. The cashier is right in front of the entrance and its a bit cramped, especially since most people waiting for their take out order, wait right there. The Place your order area is next too the cashier and you have to maneuver your way around the crowded cashier area to order. This can be a pain when the place is crowded, although the«line» moves quick and it seems to sort itself out. Neutral: the parking lot. Plenty of parking. Especially since Caracalla closed and was demoed.

They’ve been here as long as I can remember… so, we are talking Stone Age. Not really but just about every childhood party in Syosset included the mammoth 6ft one ton hero from here. Part of the last sentence might be exaggerated. Anywho, they have been cranking out behometh breakfast sammiches, «smalls» that could sate Biggie(Dr Brown’s Cel Ray poured for our late homies) since before most of you were born. Everyone has their favorites and they have cold cut combos of their own, but carnies should hit up that brisket, pastrami, roast beef or turkey. Stopped and picked up a brisket for my fella to enjoy(again, the small puts most 12″ subs at chain gross places to shame) they make their own briskets and meats daily, and bake their bread fresh, too. It is not fancy, some would even call it dive-y. But the food is what it is all about, grab and beach, hike, park or party bites and bounce. Teeny tiny car park on Jericho Tpke, so be careful and sated :) Some places have been around forever because they are great at what they do: VH has earned its spot in Syosset culinary fame.

Like all of the other reviews these sandwiches are huge. Looks can be deceiving the outside of this place is not something you would drive by and say«this place looks nice lets eat here» it’s a hole in the wall. I found out about this place through Unilocal.I got the ricks special or something along those lines. Came with ham turkey cheese and the works(onions tomatoes lettuce and dressing) I split the large with someone else we were both starving but we barely finished it. The roll was soft and perfect for a hero. The sandwich was pretty stuffed with meat. Friendly man behind the counter took my order, sandwich was made fast. Will definitely be returning. I was the only female in there, everyone else were large construction like men… Hey if it’s a good spot for food I’ll go anywhere. Sweet potato fries were average.

OMG Village Hero is great. This was the first time i have been here, And you can be sure it will not be my last. The service is totally outstanding. The staff is so quick that if you blink your food is already done. I ordered a Italian Sub, They actually called it something else but I do not remember what. I got the large which was so huge, There was no way i was eating the whole thing in one sitting. From the time I walked in to the time I walked out with hero it was no more than 5 minutes total, And they were pretty busy. The hero was totally delicious and I will be going back there many times to come. This is now my new favorite hero shop
