Let’s go back in time a bit. The year was 2003. I was rockin’ the cornrows and the afro which were popular at the time. I was spending my summer vacation in Worth County humping heavy watermelons on a very large farm located in Sumner. From sun up until sun down, six days a week(except Sundays), me and about ten others would toss and load watermelons on a flatbed truck in the notorious Georgia blistering, scorching heat. Complete with gnats, horseflies, snakes in the grass, and mosquitoes biting. I was in high school at the time, and I was holding my own with the rest of the adult men and country boys. The work was very physical and exhausting, but I was eager to finally make my own money for the very first time in my life. I made over $ 700 that summer. That may not be a lot to y’all but for a poor kid like myself living in the hood that was more than I could ever imagine at that time. It was money under the table and I earned every bit of it. I would spend that money on many things as the new school year approached, specifically throwback jerseys(remember when they were in style?), shoes, video games, food, and whatever else that I wanted. Some of that money was also spent right here in this fine Mom and Pop establishment during our lunch break. We would ride into Sylvester everyday on the back of a old beat-up truck to take a break from the grueling labor and indulge in either some Carlton’s hamburgers(or greasy burgers as we called them) or some Pap’s Fried Chicken(no longer exists; now a Maryland’s). I returned back to working the following summer in 2014 and we would often return here to munch on some more greasy burgers. Now, over a decade later, this place is still crankin’ out those good old greasy burgers. The storefront is very small and there is absolutely no seating whatsoever; therefore this place is strictly takeout only. Their menu is very small and simple, only consisting of hamburgers, hot dog/chili dogs, and barbecue sandwiches. That is it. Additionally, the place also have potato chips, bottled 20 oz and 12 oz cans of soda, and some candy. The greasy burgers consists of scrambled hamburger meat(hence the nickname). They are good but if you are on a strict diet, then I wouldn’t recommend sampling these fine burgers. Chili dogs are OK as well though I prefer the burgers. The burgers are only $ 1.19 apiece so they won’t break your bank. In conclusion, I recommend this place. It is popular with many locals. I have a lot of family that lives in Sylvester on my Father’s side and they all say that these the best burgers in downtown. I concur as I have ate here on my occasional visits in Sly-town. Cash Only
