Soo good! This place looks like a total hole-in-the-wall and it is tiny but it was chockfull of people on Saturday morning. The menu was pretty extensive and the food was divine, with ingredients that were clearly of the best quality. Get the shrimp, cheddar and bacon grits, you’ll be SO satisfied. I can’t wait to come back and try the coffee drinks and other breakfast options.

Ellens… what can i say! So much to be said. If you are looking for a new breakfast place, with unique AMAZING food items, and fantastic service, this is the place! The food is a step away from the traditional boring coney breakfasts The bakery aspect is too die for; all their breads and bakery goods are off the charts. The service is fantastic! I love scott and jen, always take care of me and my girlfriend when we go in. Go there. Now! Oh, try the Challah bread, and the Mushroom Forestiere(Mushroom eggs benedict)

1st time here. Shared a Mediterranean omelette and a turkey sausage one. Both were very good as was the toast. Decent service. Fair prices. Only complaint would be how close every table is. on my visit there were a number of parents who were letting kids run wild. Saw at least 3 incidents 2 spilled drinks and a $ 30 tray of cookies dumped. In each case parents never said a word to the kid. Horrible!

I saw pictures of this place online and wasn’t very impressed so when my sister suggested we go there I was hesitant. I couldn’t have been more wrong; Ellen’s is adorable! The staff was friendly, engaging, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The coffee was amazing(maybe a little on the cool side) with lots of options to choose from. I ordered the French toast and my sister got a breakfast sandwich(on gluten free bread! Hooray!). It was literally the best French toast I have ever eaten! I highly recommend this place and it will be a new favorite of ours!

Good«like home made». Ellen’s is small Bakery & Café with real taste and reasonable prices. But if you want a set you better come early the sets fill fast. One nice option are the window rail setting that open for one or two. The menu isn’t overly large or complicated. But daily specials items Keep the you coming back for more. Ellen’s in a shopping mall so parking is easy and plentiful. Enjoy the fresh fair and the family friendly atmosphere. Try it for yourself.

I’ve gotten to the point where I need Ellen’s every weekend. Everything is just so good! The pancakes… Oh the pancakes… There’s something so amazing about them. And they know how to make a good loaded omelet. But most of all, I’m obsessed with the turkey Reuben. It is on their onion roll– which they also sell, and it’s my go to for lunch every time. Anything and everything at Ellen’s is always fresh and delicious and the service never disappoints. Also, try a baked good, you’ll thank me later. More specifically, the key lime pie :)

Fist time having macaroons and I enjoyed the vanilla one so much. The chocolate one was also very nice. I just happened to like the vanilla a bit more. My favorite was the almond poppyseed muffin. The top had a nice sugar crust. The muffin itself was very moist and flavorful. The lady(and her coworker) that helped me pick out stuff was very helpful. I hope to come back next time for a nice sit down breakfast!

This use to be a hidden gem. Now the word is out and as I write this I am eating her homemade granola! Yum! Nothing but the very best soups sandwiches and salads! Yes they are also known for their delectable pastries which are to die for! This place is always busy regardless of time of day and weather conditions which tells you that Ellen’s is consistently doing it right every day! I know that they need to expand because frankly it’s tough to find a table especially during lunch which is why I come a little earlier or later than lunchtime. I certainly highly recommend this gem to anyone that really wants to experience an amazing sandwich and bake shop! And of course the wait staff is always courteous too!

Excellent food, it feels like home food, I got the florentine omelette replaced the cream cheese with goat cheer and added Avocado. It came on a plate with potatoes and bread of your choice. Because the menu was so delicious I just couldn’t leave without trying the pancakes. You can order a stack of one, two or three. because I got three eggs for my omelette therefore I ordered a stack of two. Put the butter on the side and poured that 100% maple syrup on the stack of two banana and pecan pancakes uhhhh it was so good. Pushed the omelette and pancakes down with a 8oz of freshly squeezed orange juice. The meal was awesome and filling. I’m definitely going there again and again and again…

Ellen’s Bakery & Café has been known for their delicious sweets, but it is important to note that they also offer some incredible breakfast and lunch options in their café. Chef Ellen & her husband have developed a full menu for patrons including(but not limited to) fresh breads, cakes, cookies, breakfast, sandwiches, salads and soups. Ellen’s is a great place to grab a meal then browse the showcase for which sweet to leave with. Open Monday-Friday 7am-4pm /Sat: 8am-4pm /Sun: 8am-2pm Savory menu items are almost all under $ 8 with exception to those options with seafood. Ellen’s also offers special occasion catering. Bakery items are worth every penny. I grabbed a cookie on my way out and it didn’t survive the car ride home. Ellen’s is simple. You walk in, seat yourself and get waited on by extremely friendly staff. You can also pop in to grab an exceptional pastry and coffee on your way to work.

Maybe a slightly generous five, but either way, this is an awesome place to go for breakfast. As my awful didn’t-mean-to-use-the-flash picture shows, I got the shrimp and cheese grits with rye bread. First bite of just the grits I was kind of miffed that they were so bland, although I really liked the fact that they were creamy. After I got to eating with bites of shrimp, cheese, bacon, or scallions, I realized it definitely did NOT need any salt, as the other ingredients provided it. It took a little bit of time after ordering to get the food, but I was expecting it. As the waitress put the plate down, she apologized and said it took awhile because I ordered the thing on the menu that takes the most time to make… not surprised. My girlfriend got cranberry walnut pancakes, which came with a side of… I don’t know what it was. Some kind of butter infused with orange and/or orange peel. I’m really not too keen on pancakes(unless they’re served with eggs, bacon, etc.), but I thought they were great and the butter was delicious. We also each got something to drink. She got a turtle mocha, and I got an espresso… with a shot of raspberry. The waitress gave me a bit of an, «Are you @&%*ing me?» face, but it turned out to be a good decision. It smelled phenomenal, and tasted even better. The turtle latte was also excellent… caramel, chocolate, and coffee? Why wouldn’t it be? I was glad that, even though I didn’t order it, it wasn’t throat scratchingly, cloyingly sweet. Neither of us got any of the many baked goods for the road, but we both figure we’ll be here again for breakfast pretty soon. Many of the menu items sounded incredible, and it took me ages to finally settle on something… I feel like I need to come back to try some of the other things on the menu. Ellen’s is a fairly small place that was uncomfortably busy to stand around waiting in at around 12:30 on a Sunday. Thankfully, with two people, we were sat after just about five or ten minutes. Apparently they’re going to be expanding at some point over the spring, which only means more seating, more stuff from the bakery, and more reason to revisit Ellen’s in the future. If you’re «meh» in regards to breakfast, Ellen’s will change that after just one visit.

This a really great breakfast spot but get here early because it starts getting packed here after 10am. The service was really slow probably because there was only one server for half the restaurant but at least we could grab our own coffees in the coffee station area. Ordered the veggie hash with sunny side up eggs and it was good! Hubs ordered the pancakes with a side of bacon and it was excellent! Next time we come back we’ll take home a lot of bread!

I like Ellen’s Bakey & Café; a lot! It has become my go-to spot for Sunday breakfast. It’s not a cheap breakfast. It’s not the best breakfast. It’s not most expensive breakfast(I’m talking about you, Frittata). It *is* a damn good breakfast w/good coffee selection and fresh-squeeze OJ for a fair price — an excellent value with a few welcome surprises on the menu and Specials board; duck hash anyone? Ellen is a real person. She spends almost all of her time in the kitchen. The staff in the front of the house is a fine-oiled machine. They know their regulars by name. If you are a regular, you can get a 20% discount by joining their ‘club.‘ They also do excellent sandwiches, soups and salads for the lunch crowd. They are expanding into the space next door and expect to begin dinner service in Dec 2014. The downsides? The tables are a bit crowded. One more table in the space, and I would be complaining. The DiY coffee/OJ bar is a bit cramped.

3.5 stars We came here on a snowy, chilly Saturday morning breakfast and had a great time. Our breakfast entrees consisting of Corned beef hash($ 8.99) and Ellen’s buttermilk pancakes($ 6.99) were great tasting and had lots of great flavor. I loved that my poached eggs were not overdone, and that yummy delicious oozing of the egg yolk made me smile. The hash itself could have been a bit less chunky in texture, but the flavor was good. Portion size was plenty for us two to share. Buttermilk pancakes were fluffy, soft, and HUGE. Each piece was about 8″ in diameter, and there were 4 pieces to boot; plenty to satisfy that inner pancake monster. :) It was a bit unattractive to receive maple syrup given in a to-go plastic container; kind of marred the experience, but it was still good. They give you extra packets of butter, but we didn’t use it. As much as we enjoyed our entrees, and the preparation was fresh, hot, and home style, the pastries that we got were disappointing. We ended up getting an almond croissant, raspberry almond croissant, magic bar, and coconut macaroon. All except the magic bar was not good. Dry, stale tasting, and just not what we expected. The almond croissants(both plain and raspberry) were cut in half and it looked like the almond cream spread was literally spread across with a knife versus being piped as a filling. It was a first for us, and the fact that you could pull both halves apart was not appealing. Coconut macaroon did not have any coconut flavor or scent. In fact, some of the coconut flakes didn’t even taste like it was toasted. Surprisingly, the magic bar was great. Moist, and good balance of chocolate chips, nuts, and fudge. Light and good density; just that little bite and chew was bliss. That was worth getting. We had lovely service and the lady and gentlemen were so warm and friendly. It really is a local neighborhood stop, and worth coming for breakfast. I’m just not in any hurry to go back.
