On the menus of Presidente and El Chaparral restaurants, Graciana Tortilla Factory in Sylmar is listed as their source of tortillas. Since it’s in my neighborhood, I’ve wanted to give them a try but couldn’t find them. I found no Unilocal listings for a «tortilla factory». Well, Graciana Tortilla Factory and Graciana Tamale Factory are the same place. Following the names of both businesses, we bought some tortillas and tamales. The flour tortillas were pressed very thin and light. The tamale with cheese and green chilies had masa that was neither gummy(my typical gripe of most tamales) nor crumbly. These weren’t the overloaded frozen tamales found at most farmers’ markets, but sized like a restaurant tamale with the right balance of masa to filling. It was an ideal, classic tamale. This is not a restaurant, but a store with basically five types of items for sale — frozen tamales by the dozen, masa, dried corn husks(Has anyone shucked corn with husks as big as those found on a tamale?), corn and flour tortillas, and tortilla chips. Although it looks like a factory outlet, the prices were normal for the area. Cash only.

This is my First 1 star review & it is all due to customer service, We have been buying tamale’s here for a long time, Specially Christmas time they have Fresh ones, this last time we got few different ones the chicken Tamale was not good when I went back to exchange it. I was told they can not exchange it. Also blamed it on the fact that I microwaved it well i guess for years we have been doing it wrong but tasted good before. Even if I was wrong wouldn’t you just exchange it to make the customer happy to keep them as a customer. on my last purchased I spend over $ 60 what was it going to cost you to exchange it?(but I am sure you might not care if I do anyway) so here is the warning. * be aware if what you bought taste horrible you are stuck it, even if it is freezer burned from them. * Don’t buy these to Microwave ! as per their warning not mine. * buy items as is final sale no returns no exchanges.
