This is the place to go if you want to wait 35 – 40 min for something TOGO! In the end I opened my box to unveil a great disappointment. They weren’t even friendly about the unnecessary wait time :(

Mexican food al estilo Gringo… The salsas not spicy and tastes the same green or red… the nachos are made with that yellow«ice cream truck» cheese(huacalas) .The taco trucks on Foothill kill these tacos for sure. Im not trying to be a hater and knock Gabbys hustle pero no manches hija. echale ganas

Not bad, carne Asada burrito, comes with chips & melted cheese like 711 has. Usual old timers hanging out. The sign reads open @ 7am, but salsa & fixing not ready at the serve yourself, not good when your on the run

I don’t know what to call this — I saw a picture of this on Unilocal and showed it to the young lady that was waiting our table. It was delicious and the people that work here are very sweet!

Never new this place was even in Sylmar & I lived here forever! The food– great! Literally taste homemade, fresh, authentic Mexican food. Good portions, good prices & friendly service. They even give you complimentary bean & cheese nachos to munch on while you wait. I got the chicken, cheese enchiladas, and I was completely satisfied. Cheese, sour cream, avocado, rice beans, and a ton of cheese– it’s a must try. Gabby even came out to make sure our food was to our standards and even offered to change something if r wasn’t to our liking. Gabby, your food is on point! :)

Gabby’s has to be a life lesson for all of us. We all need to learn it’s not how you start, but how you finish. The design or layout of this restaurant is the worst you have ever seen, possibly worth about ½ a star. If you hang in there after that bad start, your going to get a breakfast that will deserve 4 ½ stars at least. Gabby’s start you out with chips that come with a bean & cheese dip, which for Gringo’s is unusual but tastes great. Next comes a breakfast plate that looks like it should be on the cover of a food magazine, with dashes of cheese and slices of avocado. Finally you dig into some good tasting food and enjoy the meal only to regret not coming sooner. My only question is «When does the L. A. Times food guy show up?»

Found this place in Unilocal.Open thanksgiving. Walked in to a very friendly staff and a shop full of regulars. Old vets from the Korean and Viet nam wars. Enjoyed their conversation and the warm inviting atmosphere until the food arrived. Excellent breakfast that hit the spot with complimentary Fideo soup and nachos. Coffee wasn’t great but it didn’t matter. The whole experience Made my morning.

This restaurant is LEGIT. Been here a few times and it’s consistently good. Super burrito blows my mind, the enchiladas with either chicken or cheese are both outstanding. The rice and beans do taste better than other similar places. I always see the same staff here, possibly the owner. The lady who helps customers is excellent and very welcoming!

The food is great. I put 4 stars because I specifically said no beans on my whole order multiple times and I still got beans. Besides that everything else was great. Would go back but guess I gotta check and make sure there’s no beans before I leave(take out order)

Not a good place to eat… my husband ordered the super burrito wet… i ordered the 3 enchilada combo…10 minutes after we order the waitress comes and tells us they ran out of chicken… really??? I think they should tell you that when you order right? There are flys around you at times… at the end the food was ok. didn’t blow my skirt up.

Handmade tortillas are only the icing on one of the most authentic places in Sylmar. While I want to keep this hidden gem for myself, I ask torn because a secret like this can’t and shouldn’t be contained. Excellent door and service.

Great food, great friendly service. Tastes like what mom makes. I love the breakfast and the seafood plates are amazing. My family loves to eat the burritos. Those things are stacked with fresh goodness. Nothing is frozen and the price is great.

Gabby herself provides good service and the best food. Menudo has been my favorite for the past few weeks. Good portions with delicious handmade Tortillas.

I’ve been here a couple times and overall, it’s been pretty good. The pros: 1. Breakfast burritos with bacon are huge! And they are super delicious. 2. Their coffee has a nice spicy kick to it. Love it! 3. Has a nice variety in their menu 4. The ambience seems very down to earth that seems to cater to a very loyal clientele. Makes it feel very homie. The cons: 1. Customer service could be better 2. Could be friendlier/more welcoming to new-comers and the occasional visitor 3. They are very slow 4. They need to work on availability of basic condiments for food and drinks. Half and half or non-dairy, non-flavored creamer would be GREAT!

Honestly we expected a lot more out of this place. We got there and it took a while for anyone to address and assist us, considering the place is small you would think the service would be prompt. The tables were not cleaned. The food was okay though the meat was very chewy and fatty. Also, unless you spoke spanish, you were going to have a problem ordering. Not sure I will try it again. Maybe it was an off night but sadly I just didn’t feel like this place was for us.

Came to get some breakfast at Gabby’s Kitchen(it’s next to the car wash). There are 6 booths that fit 4 – 6 people depending on how big you are. I tripped out on the salsa sign that had the«a» in reverse. Anyways Gabby was very responsive to her customers and making sure they were being taken care of. Ordered the Chillaquilles con huevo and a bacon breakfast burrito. The portion of the chilaquilles was big and from what I was told were absolutely delicious! I was really craving a breakfast burrito. My burrito was so-so. The eggs, cheese, and potatoes passed the test but the BACON… the star of the burrito was FULLOFFAT. I was so disappointed to not have received crunchy delicioso bacon and instead had to take out all of the bacon since it literally was not edible. Please look into using another kind of bacon for your burrito’s since the one you use sucks. However, the chilaquilles I would return for. Can I add that the health department rating for this place is a ‘B’.

I was looking for some good food around Sylmar so I decided to use Unilocal, for some reason this place caught my attention. I ordered the«Super Burrito» and one fish and shrimp taco to go. After waiting 20 minutes for my meal I decided to start with the tacos, which came in a hand made tortilla which I automatically gave extra kudos. Unfortunately both the shrimp and fish taco looked better than they tasted because they lacked flavor. Moving on to the«super burrito» which was about $ 8, totally not worth the money. The burrito was supposed to have beef, chicken along with rice, beans, and avocado. Mine had NO avocado And one side seemed to have way more rice than any meat. Next time I’ll take those eight dollars and head over to chipotle. #neveragain

This review is only for the breakfast burritos, although we can’t wait to try all the other food served here. Gabby’s Kitchen is officially our breakfast burrito spot in Sylmar. We love breakfast burritos, and had awesome breakfast burritos back in our old town so we knew we had to find some decent ones in our new hood. After reading all the positive reviews on Unilocal,we knew we had to try this place. The burritos are really big and stuffed full. The bacon ones had big pieces of bacon and were damn good. The chorizo ones were the real winners. The chorizo was not greasy or way too salty and were excellent. The nachos with frijoles and queso were very good as well. There are a few cons, though they are minor. They need a third, really hot salsa option. The green and red ones are good but we need more heat. Also, if your group is bigger than 4 people, you’ll need a couple of booths because the place is small. They also charge extra for credit cards. Can’t wait to try everything else!

I placed a take-out order of chilaquiles(para la cruda) and pozole. The chilaquiles with sunny side eggs is delicious. Los frijoles y arroz are really good too! It’s like your mom’s cooking… delicious Mexican comfort food. The chilaquiles can be spicier(hotter) but lots of people can’t eat super spicy so it is fine, totally hit the spot. The service was quick and friendly. The place is clean. Has booth and counter seating, they also have a salsa bar. I didn’t grab any salsa but that’s cuz I was in a rush. I paid like eleven bucks for my order which was cool. I’ll be coming back for some albondigas soon!

Had the super Burrito with both chicken and carne asada added mojado(wet). It was super great! The chicken was breast was soft and tender. Wasn’t piled with just rice and beans. Meatlious! The sauce was delicious and their green & red chile were bomb. Still have leftovers for tomorrow
