Update — still five stars and counting! I took my sister a while back for hair cut, conditioning, and seal. They did a fantastic job. I have been traveling to the city (Chicago) to get my hair cut and colored, and finally found a place closer to home to go to, thanks to my sister, and the lady who did a wonderful job.
I have been returning to Ashlynn, and this was my third visit. She recently moved to the area from Florida, and is very a experienced beautician. My hair is one of my greatest assets, and I really like to know I have someone to go to who is consistent. Ashlynn is not only consistent, but very knowledgeable about products, cuts, and coloring. She explains things thoroughly, listens to all concerns and ideas, and provides feedback either to verify her understanding of what I want, and also adds with her expertise.
I already have my next hair treatment scheduled! She took out some blue/​black and gave brown highlights, which looked great! This time, however, I came in to give it some more fun, and we did a red all over color with lilac undertones to compliment the black. (You can’t color over the black too much, but I just wanted it to compliment the highlights.)
She also cut and shaped my hair, and it just looks fantastic. Healthy, bouncy, and shiny! Don’t mention Pantene shampoo. LOL. I learned the ropes on good shampoos to purchase to keep my hair at it’s best!

I got my hair colored there and I was almost late, due to the weather, and was told if I was more than 10 minutes late my appointment would automatically be cancelled and I would have to pay extra the next time I schedule. I was very surprised they were so non chalaht about the reason I was late. Being the roads were icy, and they would actually want me to rush there, risking my life and the lives of others over hair. I also didn’t like how my stylist rushed through my appointment, like someone else had commented. Because she had another client waiting, she only did an all over color and didn’t get to my highlights. She wanted me to schedule another appointment. I found that extremely inconvenient, as I had wanted my hair done for the weekend. Then it was extremely overpriced, over 100.00 for just a cut and all over color. And when I tried to change my mind about hair products I had picked out, another stylist who was in charge and checked me out, she was short and thin with blonde hair, refused to take no for an answer and rang up the products. I was so upset. I’m never going back there again. And nobody could see a change in my hair, including my boyfriend. :((

You’ll definitely get your money’s worth here… I have been trying and trying and spending money on places to find a new «go-​to» location for my hair needs. I absolutely LOVE the color bar-​you relax while your color does its work. genius idea! I hate sitting in those chairs at other locations. when shampoo came I got an amazing head massage-​complimentary! The massage in a quiet semi dark room so you truly feel relaxed and just feel refreshed leaving this place. When I got to pay-​I was blown away how affordable this is and it solidified my reasons to come back. I definitely found my new hair salon.

I just moved to the Sycamore/​Dekalb area this past summer and I was looking for a new salon. I found this salon through word of mouth. My first appointment I was looking to touch up my dark brown color, add a few highlights, and add some layers.
My stylist was very friendly, but she didn’t seem to know what she was doing. The color that she touched up my roots with was very red-​even though my base color didn’t contain any red. In addition, she started my highlights half way down my head because she said they would look more natural. When I went home to visit my family the following weekend they all asked me when I was going to get my hair done because they thought the color problems were due to fading!
In addition to the poor coloring the salon did not schedule enough time for my appointment. So my stylist rushed through styling my hair and the owner kept telling her that her next customer had been waiting on her. I found it extremely difficult to relax knowing that they were rushing.
After the poor coloring and rushing, my stylist tried to push a variety of products on me. I kept trying to politely tell her no, but she did not back down until I told her that I could not afford to spend $ 80 on products. The pricing for their services also seemed extremely high! I go to a salon near Chicago and get the same services for ½ of the price!
I think this salon is great if you want something very basic and are willing to pay high prices.

The three words that come to mind when describing this salon are, «BEST SALON EVER». The entire staff is pretty and super friendly. They treat you like you’ve been friends forever. I first started getting cut and color from Heather the salon owner, but if Heather was absent, and I had to get cut from someone else, I would have complete confidence in whoever was available. The lather lounge is something I enjoy as well. It’s very relaxing. Keep up the good work ladies!!!

The staff and atmosphere is fantastic and professional. However a few weeks ago I took my 7 year old to get her hair curled (left down, not in an updo) for her 1^st communion and they charged me 70 dollars. Which I do not see appropriate at all.

The staff is always so friendly, the stylist are up to date on all the latest trends! I have used 3 different ones over the last 5 years and leave looking fabulous. Thanks ladies for always being so knowledgable and knowing what I need to look great!

I am rating their nail service (since I have never had my hair done there I can not comment on that). The salon staff and atmosphere are friendly and nice but DO NOT GET A GEL MANICURE HERE! I bought a groupon for 2 gel manicures and they SUCKED! The first one chipped after only 6 days on multiple nails and I am not rough on my hands. The second one I got chipped on 2 nails and it was only 4 days later!!! More are peeling up and chipping each day since… Every where else I have gotten a gel manicure it has lasted minimum 10 days before a chip occurred and the one at 10 days was only because I bashed my nail… Usually lasts at least a full 2 weeks! The only reason I went back a second time was since I had bought the 50%off groupon for 2 manicures. I will never ever get my nails done there again. The color selection sucked. I will go to the nail salons that specialize in nails from now on… They should just not even have the nail option at this salon.

Still loving this Salon! When I want my bangs cut right — I make sure I make the drive out to see those awesome ladies! They are the best! Everytime — I walk out of there feeling great about the cut I just got!

I absolutely love this salon. Kalrissa Taylor has been my stylist since 2007 and I have never been dissatisfied. I highly recommend this salon if you want a wonderful hair style and a relaxing experience.
