Potential renters BEWARE. My understanding of what a property management company should handle is evidently completely wrong. We rented a small home through Thelma Brady’s company. We took pictures of damaged areas in the home before we moved our belongings in, and we wrote detailed notes on the forms supplied. We submitted both the pictures and the notes to her office as requested(and kept copies ourselves). When we moved out we cleaned but unfortunately didn’t take pictures. Our deposit which we expected to have returned in full, minus reasonable cleaning fees, was reduced for 17 hours of cleaning plus an additional fee for carpet cleaning, trash removal, although we left our trash pickup service there for an additional week, and charges for damages that existed prior to our moving in which are documented in both pictures and in written notes on the forms supplied. When we called Thelma’s office none of the office staff could assist and said we needed to speak with Thelma. When we spoke with Thelma, and tried to discuss these concerns with her, her unchanging mantra was that she only paid the bills. It was entirely up to the owner and we would have to deal with her. When we asked what was the purpose of the pictures and notes, she again replied that she only paid the bills. Bottom-line, we had maintained good relations with Thelma’s company throughout our stay(her office staff are truly lovely people) but got screwed out of money for ridiculous fees upon leaving. We are two older people with quiet lifestyles and adequate, normal cleaning habits — not crazy hoarders living in filth, so 17 hours of cleaning for a small home? Really? Carpet cleaning on top of 17 hours of cleaning? We have to pay for documented damage that existed prior to our moving in? Really? Would we ever rent from Thelma Brady again, or ever refer anyone to her company? NEVER.
