Come here all the time when I want a good breakfast or some good Portuguese pastries. I always come early morning when they open, mainly on Sunday’s. And there’s no one there. But the food is always good and the service is great. The waitress always comes and refills the coffee so your never out and never have to ask for more. So whenever I want to go out for breakfast and I’m hungry I will go to Cornerstone. Hands down a great place for a morning breakfast fix.

We just had the best breakfast here. Denise the waitress was awesome. The malasadas was to die for! Hubby had a bagel sandwich with chorizo that was a huge sandwich that was delicious. The place was clean and the bakery had lots of tempting treats. The décor was plain but pleasant enough. It does look like a «mournful» place as other Unilocalers have noted. Whatever… Sweetbread is good to take home. We definitely will return

They need to get more services. One can’t do it all. waited over an hour to get our food.

3 stars is being nice, the location is great and convenient, the food was really good! We ordered the sweat bread french toast, home fries, and the sweat bread egg sandwhich. HOWEVER service was horrible. 1. Our waitress never introduced herself. 2. The couple that sat after us had their order taken first before we were even offered coffee. 3. The waitress never asked us how our meal was. She continuously walked by our table til we were done and just gave us the bill. I will not go back there based on the awful service we had, first impressions are everything! She needs a new career. Not in customer service!

This is probably a good breakfast place. I went for lunch though. You walk in through the bakery and it feels like that’s it. Just a big building with a small bakery. But in what I assume used to be a living room is the dining room. Layout and overall thoughts on furniture in here are a zero. It actually looks like somebody set up a breakfast place in the living room. The good news is the food. I had a very good lunch for very little money. And the service was excellent.

Cornerstone is not only a great place to eat it is also a great bakery. The people are nice, the food is great and the décor is just fine contrary to what some people on here have complained about.

I’ve been here a bunch of times for breakfast. Every time it’s been great. The service is super friendly and the food is awesome. Great things I’ve had: Sweet bread French toast, chourico and pepper omelette, eggs, home fries. Can’t wait to go back again soon!

Cornerstone had been my go to breakfast place for awhile, although I haven’t been in awhile for reasons I will discuss. It has it drawbacks… If you go on a weekend you are likely going to wait for quite some time before you get seated. Of course, that’s typical of most breakfast places, although at Cornerstone you stand in line rather than sitting in a foyer. Also, the décor is terrible. A lot of the reviews on here bring it up, and they are right… It’s awful. Random pictures of bibles, tacky chandeliers. But the waitresses are typically very friendly and the food is pretty good. I like to order from«health conscious» menu, which uses egg whites and low fat cheese in the omelettes. My favorite is the chicken chourico omelette. The turkey bacon one is good as well, and my fiancé likes the Western omelette. Typically the meal comes with dry toast, but to reward myself for the low fat cheese, I always get sweet bread. Cornerstone’s grilled sweet bread is, without question, the best I’ve ever had. If you like sweet bread, make sure you get some with whatever meal you choose. I’ve never had lunch here, and typically I stick with my omelette, although I have had their french toast which is pretty good as well. And everything is reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the last few times I have been the wait has been a lot worst than usual, and service has been slow which is why I can’t really give them the 4 stars they deserve based on food alone. We haven’t been in awhile because of how bad the wait was on the weekends. But if I was looking for breakfast during the week this is where I would go. And if service picked up, I would definitely be willing to bump my rating up.

I went here with my mother for breakfast. The crowd was sorta dead(which was good) but it took a long time for us to get any service. The staff is very friendly, i’ll give them that. But the overall atmosphere and the amount of time we had to wait upon entering + for food totally killed the vibe. The«funeral» décor also was a bit much lol. DESPITE all that the food was actually quite good. I got a Portugese slow roast, eggs, and homefries. The roast was perfectly seasoned and very tender. Not greasy whatsoever. The homefries were sorta cold but it’s whatevs. The eggs were great. You can tell that they take some special care when it comes to their food… just not so much when it comes to interior decorating and attentiveness. *Overall it was an okay place to dine at. Maybe would go back just to try out their bakery items. Other than that, eh.*

Great breakfast options mixed with Portuguese inspired omelets. Chorizo and other marinated meats. Very attentive wait staff and clean. Want a great breakfast… This is the local option.

Food is delicious, very kid friendly with educational play-cemats and cups. Staff is friendly. If you are looking for fancy place is very original. I’m sure its because they rather spend their money providing quality products then pretty stuff to look at hehe. Definitely recommend trying it out

Took my family from Illinois here they loved it. My cousin also loved that she could order sweetbread and biscuits to be delivered to her home. Great surprise for her kids. We had grilled sweetbread and chorizo omelets delicious.

Full confession — I have some Portuguese blood running through my veins and I don’t like sweet bread. There, I said it. Hopefully the ghost of my mother’s vovo doesn’t come to haunt me. From what I hear Cornerstone has one of the best sweet breads around if you like that sort of thing. The reviews comparing the décor to a funeral home are spot on. Yes, there are also religious photos all over the walls in the dining room. If that sort of thing offends you, it would be best not to visit or to get your food to go. At the end of last year they had a kitchen fire and were closed for a bit for remodeling. I walked in today expecting the funeral home décor to be gone, but that isn’t the case. Everything is exactly the way it was. I’ll be honest though, I’m not always looking for ambiance when I am out for breakfast. Normally I am barely awake and first on my list is a bottomless cup of coffee. Cornerstone is less than two miles from my house, so since I am normally barely awake, they tend to get my breakfast business. Despite the bland, religious décor, the dining room is large and unless you visit during a prime time on the weekend, you shouldn’t have problems getting a table. I only have a mallassada about once a year or so. Yes, because of all of the confessions in this review, I may very well lose my Portuguese card. On weekends Cornerstone has filled mallassadas, something I had never seen before. The choices today were jelly, apple or bavarian cream. My husband and I split an apple. It wasn’t bad, but it would have been better with just a touch more filling. I often pretend to be healthy when I eat out, and Cornerstone also has a «Health Conscious» menu. Omelets are made with egg whites, cheese is low-fat, and ham, bacon and chourico are replaced with turkey ham, turkey bacon and chicken chourico. Toast will be served dry, without butter. The homefries will be full fat though. No healthy options there. There is no fruit cup option instead of the homefries and toast. After having my sugary carb-laden mallassada, I opted for the chicken chourico omelet from the health conscious menu. Did I opt for a Portuguese hard roll instead of the dry toast and tell them to load it up with butter? Why yes I did. It was delicious carby buttery goodness. The breakfasts here are always consistent. I have no complaints about my omelet. There is always a generous amount of filling. The home fries are more of the soft variety as opposed to crispy, but they are nicely spiced. The coffee is not the best, but your cup will always be filled. The service is always friendly. If you are in the area, this is a decent breakfast option.

This is your typical«good» breakfast place. Nothing amazing or outstanding except the sweetbread of course, but as far as the food goes, it’s mediocre. It’s definitely one of those townie spots that probably has lots of regulars, but only because it’s «good» and that’s about it. I got the chorizo omelette with peppers and onions and I was satisfied. It was genuinely good. I would probably go again if I were in the area, but it’s nothing to write home about.

Love this place. Décor isn’t anything to write home about but the food — both dining in and the bakery section — is phenomenal. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food came out fast. Zero complaints and I’ll definitely be going back.

I’ve ate here a couple times, mostly for breakfast and once for lunch. The price of the food here is great. I believe lunch was around $ 15. The breakfast is amazing! I love their omelets. I do plan on going back again! The lunch was decent, nothing special. My sandwich was good, their fries are decent. Don’t quote me on this but I think they do breakfast all day, at least around lunch time they do. A warning when you walk inside the restaurant it reminds me of a funeral home. The décor is horrible, but just remember the food is great. I can’t tell you what their bakery is like to be honest.

The sweet bread is the best that I have ever had and the breakfast was great, no bells and whistles but tasty. Definitely worth a trip for the sweet bread!

This place is awsome. Especially for Swansea. The Bakery is amazing, the service is excellent, and O M G the sweetbread is to die for. It looks like a typical«Senior Resteraunt», but believe me you won’t be disappointed when you sit down to eat. I would definantly go back here(In fact sometimes I go in just to buy the Sweet Bread).
