Ive been back. I don’t like it for hibachi but I do like the Chinese food. I like the rice and chicken fingers have gotten better. The wonton soup is good however it has a burning taste. The lady manager is always in a rush and did push me out of the way without saying excuse me but other than that I like it for take out

Although a tad pricey, gourmet garden serves good quality food. Fast friendly service and a large variety in the menu. Both Chinese food and fresh sushi(fresh sushi is important)

We just moved to the North Shore this Summer and we love to dine out. We have been searching for a Chinese restaurant that we could frequent. The menu was massive here, so much to choose from. As we ordered there was another couple directly in front of us that was suggesting different items on the menu. They were very friendly and obviously regulars. We ordered some appetizers– edamame, and vegetable spring rolls. Very average at best. The Chinese dishes we ordered were just marginal: chicken lo mein, shrimp in black bean sauce and one other chicken dish. The third dish was heinous. The chicken tasted awful and looked grey. My husband asked three different waiters to send it back. They seemed scared to tell the Manager. Every waiter said: ‘You must tell the manager why you don’t like it!’ Finally this woman comes storming over– goes to the wrong table and bends into the table as if she is going to lace into this poor family with all holy rein! She finds out she is at the wrong table steps back to us and starts bitching out my husband about not liking the chicken. It was really uncomfortable and totally unprofessional. The couple across from us felt so bad for us that they offered us some of their food and made us take home a roll of sushi. That was the only positive we took out of that experience. Worth another try? Hell no.

Got stuck eating here on business. I just don’t get it. How can the stir fry dishes be this bad? How does this place stay in business? It’s really not that tough to make a stir fry dish. The main problem is the sauces. They are watered down with zero flavor. It’s almost like they make a stir fry and then add water to it. What are these cooks doing?

Actually really good Chinese food and never had a bad plate but I have only ordered the basics like chicken fingers, boneless spare ribs, etc. I really enjoy their fried rice and can’t think of a better place for it. Picking up is always awkward and never like going in because it takes a bit to get your food while in there. The place is overpriced for their portions and I feel like you can get more for less somewhere else. They Stuff your $ 12 order in a little container that would fine for a lunch portion.

I have driven past this restaurant for the past 5 years and finally decided to give it a try. I went on a Monday afternoon, so it wasnt crowded and I was greeted immediately. I ordered crazy maki and spicy tuna maki, my two favorite. The display was subpar, but I tried the spicy tuna first. I was able to only take a few bites before I was forced to spit it out or vomit. The tuna was not spicy with huge chunks of tuna, there was more tuna than rice, bland, to put it simply, it was gross. Though my appetite escaped me, I built the courage to try the crazy maki, thinking it’s cooked how bad can this be. After drenching it in soy sauce I took the first bite, which wasn’t too bad. Until the second bite without soy sauce, the avocado was soft, the rice was too soggy, and was bland. When I told the manager I didn’t like it, and told him the tuna made me regurgitate, he became offended and asked, so do you want to take it to go. I will never go back nor recommend this place to anyone!

What a disappointment… ordered a combination plate and I definitely overpaid. I only got 1 chicken teriyaki and the rest of food was just ok. I didn’t like the taste and it was not worth the cost. I did call the restaurant thinking they may have made a mistake, but the rep confirmed the order was correct. She didn’t try to make the situation better, just gave me one word responses. Go to other nearby restaurants if you’re looking for quality and reasonable prices. Don’t waste your money.

I love this place, we have been dining here for over 25 years. In all this time the resturant sold one time to the current owners. Several of the staff have been here for years. Michael, Thomas, Eric are always so welcoming when we arrive. Last night we took my nephew, his wife and three girls along with my brother his wife and my niece to dinner. My nephew is visiting from Maryland where he says they don’t know what great Chinese food is. The service was outstanding, our servers were so nice and helpful to our 1,3&5 year old nieces . The food is alway exceptional here. We drive 45 minutes to get here from home whenever we desire Chinese food . It’s worth the drive for this totally«Great Dining Experience».

My wife and I have eaten here often. Our go to items are the sizzling steak and ginger and the Mongolian beef. We have found the regular menu items(egg rolls, chicken fingers, pork strips, etc.) are okay, nothing special. However, we thoroughly enjoy their specialty dishes. Go figure! Today we had the hibachi dinner. We were the only ones at the table, which is always nice. The food was plentiful and served very hot. You get a small salad, soup, bean sprouts and vegetables with your protein. You also get a three piece shrimp appetizer. I had a combo of chicken, sirloin and shrimp. My wife had the filet. The meat was cooked perfectly, as were the vegetables which were very crunchy. The sauces are remarkable. One hot, one sweet. Definitely not your usual duck and mustard sauce. The chef was jovial, accommodating, but the«show» was less than spectacular. A lot of noise, without much happening. But we were there for the food, not the entertainment. I was very disappointed with the fried ice cream. First, it was the size of a golf ball, and covered in a panko crust that just slid off from the very small serving of ice cream. When something is that bad, maybe less is better! The service is horrendous. There is a battery of employees milling about the front entrance, but it seems that your waiter disappears. Never was offered a refill of water or drinks. He brought out the salad and rice, then our check. Wow! How about a little consideration for the customer Service? We truly enjoy their food, but the service is, and has been, terrible for some time. We haven’t been completely turned off, but we’re getting close. Mediocre food can still be a good experience with great service, but poor service can ruin a good meal. Word to the waitstaff: ACTLIKEYOUCAREABOUT A TIP!!!

Sushi is decent. Service is really inconsistent, but I’ll keep giving them my money since there aren’t a whole lot of options around here.

THISPOSTWASDELETED Be prepared to have a terrible experience, if you order delivery. The phone service is deplorable, they don’t even want to sell to you. When the delivery person shows up, they are usually put out that they had to bring your food to you. They never thank you for a tip, no matter how much it is, I usually give 3 or 4 dollars. They made a mistake in my order, and the manager refused to deliver the correct one. He said it was a waste of gas. They charge 3 dollars delivery charge, and you hafta tip! I live less than 2 miles away, in the next town, and they didn’t want to drive one point seven miles to deliver.

Good food… house rice wasn’t very good though. I also got a spicy tuna roll that tasted great but poorly presented. I’ll go back for sure.

While nothing that Gourmet Garden does is outstanding, everything they do: Chinese, sushi, hibachi and the Sat lunch buffet are all good enough. If you have a hankering for Chinese and would like ambiance beyond that of a check cashing establishment, this is your spot. If you like the variety of a buffet without the side effects of dysentery, this is your spot. If you are pining for hibachi but your companion is being a picky little beeyatch and wants something else, this is your spot. Super friendly, good flavor, nothing mind blowing but good enough to be in regular rotation.

We eat here often. Its definitely our go to sit down Chinese/Japanese/hibatchi style restaurant. They are pretty good but could be a tad better in terms of service. Seems there are always 12 semi-cranky waiters or waitresses around but never the one you need. They have three menues and I have never been disappointed. I’ve had sushi from the bar. Teriffic! I’ve had Chinese — the fried rice and the crunchy beef are to die for. Tonight was a little shady as the lobster tail I ordered on the hibatchi side had a fishy taste and no one wants to pay for a fishy lobster tail! Everything was pretty good otherwise. I’d just recommend that service be the priority. I understand it’s hard because this is the busiest restaurant I’ve ever seen. That means good food!

Wow. What a disappointment. I used to love this place. I ordered take out from here last week and went early to pick up and have a drink at the bar. I had to laugh when I saw an older Chinese woman abusing one” take out” customer after another for not knowing exactly what she needed them to do. Reminded me of the«soup nazi». Tne Chicken and Cashews dish I got tasted like soap. I have no idea what that’s all about. Anyhow, not a good experience.

I really like Gourmet Garden. The sushi is very good and the service is fine. I can’t say any more than that since I only ever go and sit at the sushi bar and order the same kinds of dishes.

I just recently moved to this area and I had my mother up for a visit. On a whim we decided to try Gourmet Garden for lunch, as we were both having a sushi craving. We walk into the restaurant and it is pretty quiet, there seemed to be plenty of staff around. We were greeted and led to our table. I must say they have a fairly extensive menu, both for sushi and hot items as well. We started with soup, I got the miso(my go to soup), my mum got the hot and sour. It came out almost immediately. My soup was fair at best, tooooooo salty!!! I mean miso soup is miso soup lol. BUT it was just so so, and it was luke warm… My mom liked hers, she didn’t say a whole lot about it. So we opted for a couple of rolls and got the akai rice which is much healthier alternative to white rice(at least it is touted to be as such), I have to appreciate that clearly! Major props and high fives! The rolls, however, were not executed well… WAYTOOMUCHRICE and the RAW fish was warm… like it should be at least somewhat chilled… very off putting! The«cold» roll was delish however! It was enveloped in slices of crisp and clean cucumber as the«rice» and it was very light and refreshing, a total win on that roll. So we liked the one roll and my mum liked the soup… :(So based on that I had to give three stars. If I’m being honest I probably won’t be back, it was just a very mediocre experience overall. I hope this review proves helpful for the sushi lovers out there!!! Signing off… :)

Mediocre is all I really can say about this place. Hibachi tables are dirty when they start the shown with food trapped in the corners. The«show» was uneventful with no talking or interaction by the chef. This is part of the price at any hibachi restaurant. The servers were non existent to ask for drink refills or to help us to swap out a dirty plate before the dinner was cooked. I ordered the lobster, shrimp and scallop combo. Scallops were completely undercooked and when I told them they brought back after I was finished eating the most disgusting scallops I have ever had. They cut them in half and left them with grill marks that were charred and flavorless. The only drinks that they asked if you wanted another were money drinks, not sodas or waters. Plenty of hibachi places to eat at and they will be my next options as this place is not what I would consider quality. The manager was very nice and offered to take care of something and to review the matters I presented. I was happy to hear but it was not enough to alter my opinion.
