I like Toh Dam Teppan. They are located in the Assi Shopping Center. They are partially hidden behind a stairwell. This restaurant is recently under new management. I really liked the yummy hot kimchi and tofu soup. The soup was very flavorful. The egg soufflé was tasty and light. I liked all of the ban chan especially the kimchi, pickled peppers,(both x2). I liked the radish kimchi, bean sprouts. I do not know all the names of the types of kimchi served. It was all very good. I tried my wife’s mushroom tofu soup several times(to her dismay). Now, don’t think that she was not dipping into my soup either. The prices were reasonable. I will be returning here soon to feast again. 56⁄100

I’ve been there at least 2⁄3 times now. And it seems have changed since my last visit. 1. They’ve added table separators that hang from the ceiling, which has added privacy to your table. Which I really appreciate. 2. They didn’t have galbi or bulgogi on the menu! What in the world!!! They used to! That cost them a star for me, because that’s my dad’s favorite dishes. I can only guess that maybe it’s seasonal(not served in January??) But I don’t think that’s the real reason – maybe they want to focus more on tofu soups now? 3. Almost everything on the menu is spicy! Mild is enough for me, not too bad. I’m sure you could ask for no added spice in your soup. 4. We ordered the squid hot plate($ 28)(don’t know the korean terms) on a portable gas grill based on the waitress’s recommendations since they didn’t have galbi. And be warned, it is enough for a family of 4! We took almost ¼ home to-go. It was delicious, but my family is not used to all that much spicy foods so they were struggling/sweating the whole time lol. Ingredients: squid, rice cake(duboki), bean sprouts, green onions, cabbage, misc shredded veggies. 5. My mom ordered a mild spicy level beef tofu soup($ 8), which was tasty, can’t go wrong. It came with purple rice, that you’re suppose to scoop out into a bowl so they can pour cold water into the iron bowl. You scrap off the rice and eat the ‘crispy’ pieces of rice that was once stuck to the sides of the bowl. I’m not a fan, but my mom likes to eat it, she says Chinese do the same thing lol. Banchan: was basic: kimchi, radish kimchi, boiled peanuts(new to me), chopped green beans. lost another star here. it didn’t look as abundant as in the previous reviewer’s photos. no mackerel? fish either!(mom’s favorite banchan!) To our surprise, they offered us kimchi pancake and an extra potato/squash tofu soup on the house! I’m not sure how we got the special treatment – but much appreciated! =D(Mom thinks it’s cus we’re new and they want us to come back lol).and for sweet ending, they gave us each sweet rice drink(Sikhye). Sweet with the slightest hint of ginger(don’t worry – non ginger drinkers, it’s just a hint of it!) Service: Our young waitress was attentive and spoke English so she could help us with the menu. And didn’t give us the cold shoulder service I get sometimes at Korean restaurants. She made sure we were happy with our food and got us more barley tea and banchan when we were empty. =) Overall: I’ll probably try another tofu soup restaurant with my family since we have meat eaters in our family. If your just want tofu soup, and you’re in the area – you should give them a try! I think our experience just fell short this time… I may come back another day since it’s closer to home than Pleasant Hill(K-Town).

One of the best in Atlanta! Toh dam is located in the Assi Shopping Center on the very left of the building hidden behind the stairwell. So it is not very visible from the road. The buildings next to them are all closed and we thought Toh Dam was closed as well, but it wasn’t! Yay, for us! I ordered the mushroom soon du boo and loved it! My mom ordered the one that was similar to dweng jang ji gae. I can’t remember the name of it. She said this is her fave place for soon du boo. She enjoyed it and said that the broth was very flavorful bc some are usually watery. My husband ordered the seafood soon du boo and bi bim bap combo. He enjoyed his as well. It also came with the usual fish which was hot. Other places serve it cold and I don’t usually eat it, but I ate mine and my husbands bc it was so good. Plus, all the ban chan was also fresh and delicious. It included, radish kim chi, regular kim chi, spinach, bean sprout, steamed egg, jap chae, and another type of kim chi. The service was spotty. They forgot our sides after we asked for them and it wasn’t that busy. We all enjoyed our meal, and would def come back! I don’t know how soon, due to the hot weather, but regardless, I’ll be back!

The main reason why I like going to Toh Dam is the fact that it is in between my work and home. I could not ask for more but they sure provided with the quality of food the served. The food was exceptional after reopening under new management and their 6 dollar promotion made it even a sweeter deal. I have to say soft tofu soup isnt as popular in Georgia as it once was when the first place opened in doraville buford hwy but the crave still lives within me time to time. If you are in the area and you are craving your dose of protein and a spicy kick in your diet, toh-dam is the place to go.

Tried to go here for lunch last Wednesday. They have closed down and have a sign on the door thanking their loyal customers for their business. :( (I marked it as closed like I was supposed to do last Wednesday. But since it hasn’t registered yet I figured I should post it here as well.)

A well-kept secret no more! I’ve been coming to this place since it opened right after Super H Mart. Toh Dam Tofu offers the best tasting Galbi in town and the most flavorful tofu soups. Although portions are small, the galbi is well marinated(you can taste it in every bite) and perfectly grilled. The sundubu(tofu soups) are not watery but are hearty and tasty. The galbi tang(rib soup in clear broth) comes with enoki mushrooms(a nice touch) — the broth has that simmered-for-hours taste. Very comforting. This is one of the best Korean places in the city. Located in the Assi plaza on Old Norcross Rd close to Discover Mills mall. More here:
