I feel like a 3-star is generous, but a 2-star is overly harsh. I’m in a decent mood, so Leelanau Sands is getting the benefit of the doubt. Aesthetically, it’s a nice place. Definitely on the smaller side. I have yet to come in here and have it be really busy. They don’t get a whole lot of traffic, so there are very few table games open at any one time. Often, the roulette table isn’t even open, but I’m sure you can ask to have it open. I understand why they have to do it that way, but it’s still kind of annoying. I’m not a craps player and often find the craps table intimidating, but I feel like this is a good place to come if you’re learning. For the most part, they’re patient with you and help you out with figuring out the bets and whatnot. When we’re hitting the wineries on the peninsula, we always seem to stop here, but it’s not really a place I would go out of my way to seek out.

This is a handy casino tucked up in one of the Peninsula’s in the greater Traverse City, MI area. We went on a Monday afternoon so there was very light traffic. There were places to eat, a gift shop, a Bingo Hall, free coffee and soda and a lodge to spend the night in. The place is well laid out, clean and pretty inside. Sutton’s Bay is beautiful but remote. There are plenty of slot machines and a pit for those that like to play table games. Unfortunately for me I lost $ 140.00 in less than 45 minutes as none of the slot machines that I played were giving back. I only played 80 cents a hit on the average but many times after hitting 15 times I would not win even $ 1.00 — for me the experience was sour but then again that’s why they call it gambling, lol.

Medium sized casino with a lot happening inside. Over 400 slot machines and a full pit with a half a dozen or so table games. Dealers seem to be having a good time and a lot of laughing and joking with the locals was going on which is pretty cool to see. Dex’s pizza located inside has the best pizza for miles! I’m not sure you can find any better.

It was raining and we wanted to gamble. My husband heard of this place and wanted to check it out. Leelanau Sands Casino is located 20 miles north of Traverse City on M-22 in a small town of Peshawbestown, Michigan. Over 450 Slot Machines and selection of table games including– Craps, Roulette, 3-Card Poker, Blackjack and the latest virtual table games and Bingo. I didn’t think this casino was that bad. Smoking is allowed, but the building was well ventilated. Casino and restrooms clean. I don’t like Casinos that are huge that you feel like you are walking a maze. This one is not too small, but not big. I like the setup and the lighting. There is small concession drink stand where soft drinks, tea, and coffee are free. Located in the front is a gift shop. Hungry? There is BIGDEX’S Pizzaria. Serving Pizza, Subs, Salads, etc. They also have the LEELANAUSANDSSHOWROOM– which seats 1,000 guests. This showroom features recognized entertainers and other special events. When you are gambling, they wait on you and ask if you need anything. My husband and I mostly played the Utlimate-X poker and Pick ‘em poker. Machines are ticket redeemed. My husband did not sign up for the rewards program, but they do offer it and it’s free. It was pretty fun. When we went, it was in the morning and there wasn’t a huge crowd. Pretty decent gaming. I didn’t come out a winner, but I didn’t lose a lot.

Cute casino. Really small, but still fun. We didn’t eat here, so I’m not sure how the food is, but it was a fun way to kill some time. Didn’t really seem to hit as often as other casinos, but it’s still worth checking out!

Poor service and mediocre food. Very very mediocre. Thought about one star. The server acted like he was on his first day and was totally clueless about what a waiter should do.

Beautiful area in and around Traverse Bay in Suttons Bay, Michigan. This is an Indian-owned casino. Beautiful motif and the workers in the casino are really nice. Just wish that the casinos in Michigan were non-smoking. Oh well. It’s a casino — so, just go there expecting to donate to the area!!! Sometimes though, one does get lucky — good luck!!!
