Hop Lot Brewing

This is definitely one of the best all around breweries I’ve been to. The beer was great, food was also amazing and the atmosphere was welcoming and the beer garden was a great space to hang out with the family in and enjoy great food and beer. The people working were also very nice. We will definitely be back as I’m sure this place just became a staple in our trips up north.

Great atmosphere and a fun place to enjoy great beer. We’ve been here 3 times and have totally enjoyed ourselves. It’s right next door to Leelanau Urgent Care. So after you are stitched-​up, you can go to Hop Lot Brewing Company for recovery.

Hop Lot has stepped their game up. Good food menu with lots of options. Tried the grilled cheese yesterday and it was solid. Met some good people and had a good experience overall.
Still waited way too long until someone acknowledged our presence despite the fact that we sat at the bar. It was awkward to the point that the couple next to us even said something about it. The guy with dark hair and the dark beard should give his co-​workers customer service lessons as he seemed to be the only one that knew anything about that sort of thing. Kudos to him.
Definitely worth the trip up the peninsula. The Norseman is a fantastic IPA. The location is great and I’m glad that I gave this place another shot. If they shore up the few service gaps, this will easily be one of my favorite spots in the area.

Yep — worth the hype and the trip. It’s really the charm that gets me — we brought the kids, hung out by the fire, played a few games from their library, dined and drank. Very nice spot to spend a few hours! Good grilled cheese with tomato soup. Oh, and I liked the beer too.

Love the outdoor space. Did a tasting flight, good beers. The indoor space is cool, like the draft pulls. Knowledgeable staff that was helpful in choosing our beers. I’ll recommend to any friends heading up north

Just did a beer tasting here and I loved it! I can’t wait to come back and drink more beer here!
The beer was great and I loved the atmosphere. We sat inside, considering all the snow on the ground, but they still had the fire pit on their patio going, which I think is a great touch. Gives you the option to go outside if the indoor crowd is too noisy for your taste or you just want to enjoy the beautiful winter scenery. I’m going to be in Leelanau for the next couple of days so I hope to head back here at least one more time, and maybe even will be taking a growler back south with me.

Great brewery in a great town. Several excellent beers. Perfect atmosphere for a few fall afternoon beers.

Possibly the best beer in Michigan is made here. They have super hoppy beers and super flavor stouts. I had a beer sampler and did not hate a single one. The stout I had was super thick and packed a punch of chocolate flavor. Their IPA was great super floral and had a nice pine with no bad bitters.
The food was amazing as well I got one of their tacos for a snack perfect snack size. It was hot and the meat was flavored wonderful.

Amazing place amazing beer and amazing local. Spent the week in Traverse City and this place beats all the other microbrews hands down. Nothing else in TC compares. Do yourself a favor and make the drive up. A good olé boy from Arkansas who travels the world.

Such a great concept for a brewery. I don’t even like beer but I wanted to spend the whole day here eating and drinking. Great food, tons of activities, and perfect for visitors of all ages. Just be sure to wear bug repellent if you stay past dusk.

Super atmooshere! Fantastic beer! Good service. They were pretty busy and Steve, one of the owners, chatted with us for a while. Can’t get much better than this in any micro brewery! GO OUT OF YOUR WAY FOR THIS!

Beer was pretty good but the smoked half chicken was probably the best I’ve ever had. Go there and get the smoked half chicken. And get a beer too. But what you will remember will be the smoked half chicken.
The place itself is really cool too. Great beer garden with the hops growing on ropes a around you and tall pines all around you.

What a wonderful place! I grew up down the street and was super excited to hear about this brewery. I stopped in during my last visit to SB and my only regret is that i didn’t go there more. Not far off the Leelanau Trail if you’re going to bike there.
When you drive up, the first thing you may see are the growing hops strung up. Set back in the woods, this rustic brewery has plenty of outdoor seating but limited indoor seating. I hope they will be open year-​round as the local winter pastime is drinking. Among the outdoor seating is a large fire pit, several yard games, and even a stage for live music. We were lucky enough to catch some music the night we were there, it was great. Yard games were a hit with our group!
The beers were great! I had a few pale ales but next time i’ll order a flight to taste a few others. Free self-​serve popcorn available if you need a snack, i didn’t try anything off their menu.
Cant wait to make it back to Hop Lot.

Best beer I’ve had near TC, plus the ribs and beer garden are outstanding. Full package for a great summer eve (happy hour) or night.

Great place! The food is nothing to brag about, but if you’re a beer lover or with a beer lover, this is a great place to hangout, play games, and enjoy some live music. A good family friendly choice and the epitome of summers in northern Michigan. I could definitely see this place taking off in the next couple years!

Vanilla Stout was pretty great. Yard games were fun. Fire pit was roaring even through it was 80 degrees.
If you happen through Suttons Bay I’d recommend you stop in for a brew.

Spent a wonderful late afternoon here enjoying the summer sunshine. We chatted to our neighbors at the communal table and took suggestions from the helpful staff. Highly recommended.

This place is just a cool spot. Great beer. The Norseman Double IPA is a hoppy explosion. Not just great brews, the have excellent food and a Biergarten outside! The coolest part is the hops they are cultivating on site. Not ready yet but in a few years they will be good to go. For a place that has only been open 11 weeks they are doing things right!

What a cool brewery– great beer, good service and amazing outdoor space for the warmer months! Wish the owners would have set up their bar in Chicago instead of moving to Northern Michigan.
We stopped in last Saturday on a recent trip to TC. The brewery had a huge beer garden with tons of picnic tables and a fire pit, a couple hops gardens, huge yard with bags set up to play games and really solid beer. A band was playing live music on the patio for a few hours into the evening.
We had the sampler and tried 6 beers, and my favorite was the strawberry blonde. Light, easy drinking summer brew with fresh strawberry flavor but not too sweet or syrupy like some fruity beers can be. Probably one of the best fruit beers I’ve had.
They even had nice touches like single S’mores packets to cook in the fire pit. Service was good when we were there.
Did not try the food.
Wish we had something like this in our neighborhood! Wishing these guys success with their new bar and hope they are successful enough to bring a similar concept back to Chicago.

I will come back later this year, If the following things happen I will raise the rating:
1. they need a bigger sign, I drove right by it and didn’t even notice it.
2. they need more than 4 beers on tap
I’m not a picky man, but seriously, compared to other microbreweries in the area this one falls short.
