I have been taking lessons with Margaret, the head pro at Surfside Tennis Center, and really loved it. Not only she is an amazing coach, but also they care about everyone who plays here. Parking is easy with many metered parking around and the court is well maintained. It’s also the most affordable court in Miami beach, and compared to other places on Miami beach, much friendlier and pleasant. Highly recommended.

Surfside Tennis Center is located at the corner of 88th Street at Collins Avenue just North of Dezerland Howard Johnson’s. There are 4 courts and they are night lit. The Tennis Center is also home to Surfside’s Memorial Park. The park is dedicated to all those that have served to defend the rights of our people.

Local, approachable and friendly. I stumbled upon this place not long ago while looking to begin tennis lessons. Among the many options I uncovered in the area, I chose to start here. After calling, I spk with Margaret which is the tennis pro and has been at this facility as such for 16 years. Being a beginner I had many questions and she was more than happy to take the time to answer them. They have 3 or 4 other instructors as well on staff. The facility is very small with 3 courts with lighting for evening play. Cost is $ 5 pp per court and reservations are needed. Surfside residents get a discount– not sure maybe $ 4(I am not a resident). Most inexpensive court time I have found around. They are open from 8am– 11pm-7 days. They offer private lessons all year long(Private lessons are $ 50 per hour or if you purchase a package of 3+ they offer nice discounts. Being it is a city facility, no other discounts or negotiations.). Group lessons offered during peak season– not thru summer. For beginners or those who may need to borrow a racquet they have a few to spare and are generous with them. Parking in front on 88th is by meter(15 minutes per .25) and a couple of spots are freebees as there are no meters in front of them. Addt’l parking also available on 89th right behind the facility(meters free after 6pm). They have a website but its pretty simple. I think most of their business comes from word of mouth and they stay pretty busy. The courts can really use to be redone(hard court) but for a beginner like me, I don’t feel the difference. Overall– a great value and everyone who works there as well as those who come to play are very friendly and make an effort to introduce you around. The area has a very safe feel. As a female– no worries walking to my car at 9pm, etc. It’s a gem.
