Because they were so friendly and the food was good, I went back today. Same great friendly service. One thing I didn’t mention last time that I really liked is that the customers themselves are very friendly and not afraid to strike up a conversation. Same thing today. I had, and highly recommend, the Philly Cheese. The meat is well-seasoned; the juice is perfect to dip it in. It’s done on ciabatta bread, which was very fresh and tasty. I had the pasta salad, which was very nice. Like I said before, they’re not fancy, and it’s more like a home than a restaurant. If you like the cozy, friendly vibe of a small-town family-owned restaurant, then go! You won’t be disappointed.

The best home cooked breakfast on the ‘other’ side of the lake. Try the deluxe breakfast with homemade pancakes and don’t leave without a homemade cinnamon roll or gooey butter cake. Look for the big ice cream cone in the parking lot or you’ll miss it.

First time to try this café tried the cinnamon roll that people said was good, mine tasted ok but was hard and somewhat dried out. I ordered the Western Omelet, cooked right but the chili that was served with it had no flavor. Hash browns were cooked as requested. My wife had the classic breakfast and all was cooked correctly and tasted good. Biggest complaint was the service was slow, slow, slow! It took over 40 minutes to be served our order and it wasn’t all that busy. I may or may not be back, it would depend on the service improving.

If you want home cooking, service that’s more like being a guest in someone’s home than a restaurant, then J&K is should be on your to-do list. The Big Breakfast is nothing short of everything I love for breakfast on one deliciously large plate. The eggs were cooked to perfection and country gravy was some of the best I’ve ever experienced. While it may be a little tough to find(look for the pink ice cream cone) it’s well worth the effort and time.

Average café with home style cooking. We stopped here on the way to the Lake of the Ozarks for breakfast. I got an omelette with hash browns and toast. My husband got the big breakfast which had a Little of everything and my kids got the pancakes. Everything was good but nothing special. Our waitress wasn’t very good. She didn’t bring us menus and didn’t ever stop by to refill my coffee — some other waitstaff had to help accommodate those basic requests. We got cinnamon rolls to go and ate them the next day. They were really good, definitely tasted homemade. I would say, stop in for the baked goods but skip dining in!

Best kept secret at the lake! Their cinnamon rolls are easily the best in the Midwest, 10 times better than Cinnabon! Their portion sizes are HUGE for the price of the food! The food is not only huge and relatively cheap but, it is delicious, it sure is homemade food! The atmosphere of the place even feels like home! It sure is a «hole-in-the-wall» place, but it’s the best whole in the wall I’ve ever been at! We will most definitely be back!

Great family restaurant with home cooked goodness. The fried potato salad was delicious. Very friendly staff that gave us a guide to the area since we were visiting. Don’t pass this small little place for a great lunch. Plenty of sweet treats too.
