The breakfast was like someone prepared and cooked it in their sleep. I know you can eat while sleepwalking but cooking? That was the result when I ate their breakfast. As a matter of fact their salads seemed to still be sleeping because it wasn’t fresh or tasty. Neither were the soups, pastas, or muffins. Hello wake up from your dreamland. People need to eat! What was this mess I ate? Seriously a bowl of cereal tastes much better than this. At least it meets my needs and I feel awake when I crunch on it. I am done with Sweet Tomatoes. By the way I don’t sleepwalk.

This is our favorite restaurant in the Santa Clara — Sunnyvale area. When in doubt about what food we want to eat, we end up here. Its very conveniently located next to Costco; so we eat here and then shop at Costco most Sundays. We like that we can eat a little bit of everything — salad, baked items, soups, dessert, etc. This is one of the well maintained Sweet Tomatoes restaurants and we are always treated well by the staff. Their ginger broth soup is very good. A little noisy inside the restaurant, but that is expected as it is a family restaurant and there are kids, teenagers, adults, and old people. The food is good and the best thing is you don’t feel heavy even after trying every single item they have to offer. Lot of things for vegetarians too.

This place is alright but the selection of things is very little. If you are not interested in the soap and want some drinks please be careful because some of them will offer you some refills. They have plenty of seating for you. If you come late there is no need to worry because if you wait in line you, it won’t be that long. They had been through some expansion from the first time I went. However amid not being 100% satisfied with the prices, I do love how if you go to Costco during the lunch or dinner hour this is a good place to stop by after shopping if you did buy any stuff that is prone to spoiling. This place is the go to if you want your food simple. My mom really likes the clam chowder that they offer here. If you come here in the summer it could be really rowdy. This place could really please family

AKA, The Costco Sweet Tomatoes, it’s centrally located to Fry’s, 24 Hr. Fitness, Costco Gas, and of course Costco proper. There’s a patio w/heat lamps for those looking for the outside-but-not-totally-outside experience. Most of the ST’s don’t do patio, so eat it up(pun intended). == tl;dr == $ 11.29÷2 For $ 22 Lunch with bevmo $ 12.29÷2 For $ 24 Dinner with bevmo Sign up for ClubVeg and it’ll be like $ 8.99… ======== Carnivores can purchase a cheesy bowl of cubed chicken(cheese not included) for an add’l cost or collect yours from the Big Chunk Chicken Noodle soup. There’s also specks of meat in other dishes but if you came here to eat meat, then to quote someone else, «You so dumb!» The meat’s only for decoration — that’s it and that’s all… Inevitably, someone will want to know how Sweet Tomates(aka Soup Plantation) stacks up to Fresh Choice. Well, IMNSHO, that’s Ludacris! That’s like asking someone how Vallco stacks up to Westfield Valley Fair. Don’t. Just. Don’t. Good for groups? Uhhh… sure. Be nice and share your QR Discount Code with your friends. Dating Tip: This is a terrible place for a first dinner date — unless of course you’re both into chaos and noise pollution…

I am a frequent visitor of Sweet Tomatoes of all locations and have visited this one several times. The food is about the same as any other Sweet Tomatoes, service is very good here. The staff that walks around and clears your table is always friendly and does a great job. I also like that on several occasions I have seen the manager walk around and ask tables how they are doing and if they need anything. The main reason for giving 3 stars is their«clean» bowls and cups are filthy. Two of our water cups had lip residue stains along the edge. Also, the soup bowls were disgusting, some of them had white residue caked on the side and had to grab 3 or 4 before I finally found a clean one. The customer across from me noticed the same thing, as we both were grabbing the next bowl from the top only to see food residue and add the dirty bowls to an existing pile next to the clean ones… I’m assuming other people before us noticed dirty ones as well and left them on the side. And that was just my visit from today, other times I noticed the soup spoons still had a little leftover gunk on them. Also, this location shares a small part of its parking lot with Costco, which is a traffic disaster especially at lunch time. I will be going back but advise that you take a second look at the silverware and dishes before eating off of them.

This place is putting a serious dent in my diet. Each time I go, I promise myself to limit my consumption to an entrée of leaves and a small bowl of soup. In practice, however, I always chow down on a truckload of carbs, forgoing my promises in lieu of infinite chocolate muffins, bottomless frozen yogurt, and whatever sweet concoction I can get my grubby hands on. It’s great and terrible all at once. At any rate, I certainly won’t be making any New Year’s resolutions to quit this place. Those lovely green leafy vegetables I consume(mostly mentally while waiting in line) do contribute a great deal to my longevity, and who am I to deny myself a longer, more prosperous life? I’ll just also be adding to my track record of broken promises and an ever expanding waistline from«soup» and«salad».

I used to eat here twice a month and I never wrote a review? Shame on me! Grab yourself an orange or green tray, a red plate or two and fill ‘er up! Salad buffet at the very beginning with Mother Nature’s gifts full of vitamins and all that good stuff. You won’t find fries or potato chips here! Instead they offer baked potatoes + shredded cheddar, bacon bits, sour cream, green onions; eight made from scratch soups; an abundance of bite sized pizza-like cheesy focaccia, at least three kinds of muffins(including the infamous fresh blueberry muffin ahhh so good, chocolate chip, a seasonal one like candy cane, gluten free lemon coconut or apple cinnamon, my fave acai berry one with chia seeds); corn bread triangles; sliced sourdough and smooth wheat with your choice of butter: whipped, packaged Smart, etc. So many options! The usual soups include: clam chowder with bacon, chicken noodle, and a vegetarian soup, like minestrone or chili. seasonal: cream of mushroom, Asian broth, chicken pot pie filling & warm biscuits, pumpkin bisque, chicken & the alphabet(why is «E» so prevalent?), lemon orzo, plus so many more. Wait for a fresh batch of mac & cheese. Oh so gooey. Get creative and add your own mix ins! I find it funny the warm SF herbed rice is placed near the utensils at the salad bar … Dessert! Soft serve vanilla & chocolate ice cream with seasonal flavors like mint chocolate and candy cane. When they have the chocolate chip cookie bars, it’s every kid(er adult) for herself! A lot of desserts are baked after 4 pm, like the cookie bars and lava cakes(chocolate, red velvet) pineapple upside down cake, and carrot cake. Fresh fruit is always available: whole apples, oranges, bananas? Grapes, and jello, pudding, and some sort of sugar free berry mousse. Drink options are endless! Ask for both the clear iced drink cup and a mug for coffee or tea. Blue cup = water only. With a coupon, a drink is a mere $ 1 extra! Coupons are easily accessible: sign up for the email for coupons every Wednesday/Thursday or save your junk mail coupons. Check online! The 2 for $ 20 dinner including drinks is worth it. Family deal coupons available! $ 25 for two adults and two kids under 12. I’ve tried breakfast but the only difference is mini pancakes, French toast, breakfast potatoes, eggs, maybe sausage? Can’t recall, I just remember the Mac & cheese didn’t appear until noon for lunch! Breakfast is around $ 7 with the coupon, $ 9 with a beverage. Don’t be shy and go back to the salad line if you feel like it!

Call me weird but I actually have cravings for this place from time to time. There isn’t a Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes near where I live so I will sometimes make the extra trek to come here. Lots of salads and soups to choose from, and I always make an awesome brownie sundae for dessert. Hard to compare the food here to the restaurants in San Francisco, but writing a review for the fair prices!

If you are with a group of friends and some are into unhealthy eating and the others are polar opposites, this is the place to go to please everybody! Sweet Tomatoes is a buffet all you can eat restaurant, but what makes it unique is you get the biggest selection of salads and soups.(Don’t be deceived, there are lots of items for the carnivores) You can pretty much make many salad combinations to your liking. Then, there is a decent selection of main courses like pasta, and pizza(this is good if you want high calorie hearty meal!) and the bread section which is full of sugary muffins. Don’t get me wrong it is a salad buffet restaurant but it is also full of animal products so it is NOT a vegetarian restaurant by any means! If that is not satisfying enough you get a selection of full-fat desserts to choose from. The food quality is not bad– better than the average buffet foods! The only setback is for those who are gluten intolerant or allergic to dairy. I didn’t see any selections for those folks which would have been nice! Will come back! :)

This is a classic salad and soup buffet. They do a good job and providing a variety of salad ingredients. The soups aren’t bad and the pizza aren’t too shabby either. The dessert selection consists of fruits, pudding, brownies, and ice cream. They also offer an assortment of lemonades. It’s worth getting a drink. Overall: will return when feeling soup and salad.

This particular ST was great. I got a very nice Military/Police(I was in uniform) discount and the staff answered a couple questions I had about some of the things they had out. If its your first time here its buffet style all you can eat soup/salad/little pastries and ice cream. The salads were good with all the premade options and the individual items to add into a salad. This place was very busy around lunch. Like 100 people deep. Its a pretty big dining area but there was a lot of people.

This is a typical Sweet Tomatoes that is popular during the lunch rush. They also have morning breakfast /brunch. Expect that to be like a cheap hotel buffet. There are some cereal and egg options, but mostly it is some overly sweet baked goods gloppy oatmeal. The kids like it because there are options, but I felt a little yucky afterwards because even the yogurt is loaded with sugar. I’d go back for lunch, but not likely for the brunch.

A solid 3.5 stars. We come here for quick family weeknight meals to partake in our family favorites(bring your coupons!): 1) Blueberry muffins — made with blueberry extract with blueberries dotted throughout, the muffin top game is ON with this baked good. Crisp crunchy edges. Add some whipped honey butter and you’ve got a mid-meal treat 2) Clam chowder — solid favorite of the hubs, creamy and substantial, just add oyster crackers 3) Broccoli salad — sweet creamy dressing, cranberries, bacon and sunflower seeds make this raw broccoli salad a winner 4) Mac n’ cheese — my kids love this slightly soupy rendition, then I add more grated cheese from the potato bar It gets really crowded at around 6:30pm, so try to go early, but at least when it’s crowded the stations are replenished quite quickly, much more so than the Mountain View ST. Outside tables are the way to go if you can’t find indoor seating, they usually have the heaters on. If you have a big party, check outside for seating first. Bunny food(aka salad buffet) done right!

Located right next to Costco, Sweet Tomatoes is the perfect place to go for lunch or dinner after shopping, right? Wrong! I’ve been to many Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation places, but this place is «meh» at best. Dirty tables, undercooked and flavorless food, dirty floors, average service. The only reason I’m not giving this place 1 star is that the chicken noodle soup and the clam chowder is decent. When I went, most of the dishes were empty with no one refilling them. Food pieces were on the floor everywhere, the tables were dirty, the salads are not fresh(it looked as if they’ve been left out for a few days), and most of the food are undercooked or underseasoned/flavorless). Fortunately their chicken noodle soup and clam chowder were ok, so I filled myself up on those

This Sunnyvale Sweet Tomatoes location is in a perfect spot sharing a parking lot with Costco. Make sure you head over to Costco before they close to do all your shopping and then head over to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. Sometimes the wait can be long but just be patient because the line moves fast. Always make sure to find a coupon from the newspaper or online. Nobody pays full price… Speaking of which the price has gone up! I still dine here though because even at $ 10 a person this is a great deal. I must give my KUDOS to the manager. He is always doing a great job of managing his team and everyone is great. Pro tip: Sit outside if there are no tables. Don’t worry they have heaters.

How have I not reviewed Sweet Tomatoes yet??? I’ve been going here for years for the AYCE salad and soup! Yum! When you enter, grab a tray and a plate and then full it up to your heart’s desire with lettuce and all kinds of salad accoutrements, like sliced cucumbers, beets, garbanzo beans, kidney beans, peas, mushrooms, cauliflower, broccoli, sliced jalapeños, croutons, chopped boiled eggs, spiral pasta, sunflower seeds, and more! They have a variety of dressings, like Italian, honey mustard, and thousand island, as well as olive oil and balsamic vinegar. You’ll make your way up to the cashier where they’ll ask if you want anything to drink. I usually just get water. Don’t forget to show them your coupon — I signed up for their Club Veg mailing list and they send me coupons all the time! I don’t even need to print them, I just show it on my phone and they scan it from there. A whole healthy lunch meal for less than $ 10! Love it! When it’s not super busy, you seat yourself after paying. For me salad is round 1. After finishing my salad, I go up for round 2, which is soup, soup, and more soup! My favorite is the chunky chicken noodle soup(minus the chicken and minus the soup — I just like the noodles!). My second favorite is the clam chowder. These two are always present. Most of the other soups rotate and are flavors of the month. Sometimes they’re good and other times they’re not worth the stomach space. The little red bowls with handles they provide for the soups are cute. Next to the soups they have Mac n cheese and usually some other type of pasta. I like the Mac n cheese cuz they make it with elbow macaroni which reminds me of childhood. I usually repeat round 2 a couple of times and get several bowls of soup. But the bowls are small so it’s not like I’m eating that much soup, really! Round 3 is getting a baked potato — fully loaded. They’re wrapped in foil and the fixings are next to it: shredded cheese, chopped green onion, sour cream, bacon bits. I like to scoop out the cooked potato into a red soup bowl and then mix all the fixings with it. It tastes yummy. Also in this same section they have the muffins and focaccia bread. The garlic focaccia is my favorite. Round 4 is dessert. I only get the soft serve ice cream. They provide the smallest cutest ice cream cone. It’s self serve so you can swirl your own ice cream into the cone. They also provide bowls if you prefer that. I love Sweet Tomatoes! The salad is good(cuz I put only the stuff I want on it) and the soups are yummy. The space itself is pretty old. But the staff is really efficient in clearing away the plates and trays. And eating AYCE salad makes me feel less guilty about eating at a buffet.

This used to be my favorite Sweet Tomatoes for many years. I have been going to the San Jose location for a while and yesterday I returned to this Sunnyvale location. I was very sad what this place has become. First thing I noticed was the lack of customers. 3 years ago, it was almost always crowded. I quickly found out why. In the line, the lettuce types were mixed and the prepped salad was empty with no one making a new batch. There always used to be someone greeting and always cleaning. The egg was not mixed well. For the first time, there was a big piece of gorgonzola cheese and it was not pleasant. Dirty dark carpet that was once red vibrant tomatoes was more like smoked out casino carpets. Look at the carpet underneath the table and then where people walk, you’ll know what I mean. There are workers on break using the customer tables even charging their smartphones. What happened to this place in the last 3 years? At the end, I saw some lady come in from the exit and walk out with food and the dish. Yes, she took the dish out. There are barely any workers so the thief took advantage of it. Oh right, yes the coupons suck now. Even with a coupon, you’ll be paying ~$ 11/person for dinner. They killed off Fresh Choice and then raised their price and it seems like Fresh Choice workers came over too.
