Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety I must say are very good friends of mine! The whole department is! I never had any problems with them. they cleared my name under a false accusation by a resident at my apartment building and they have saved my life more than once from Suicide attempts and other medical heart issues Sometimes I get extremely Sick medically because of what Birth defects in the heart i have and autoimmune disease… They love it when I wear my Maui Fire T-​Shirt and love it when I wear my cowgirl hat! What good times I have with Sunnyvale Public Safety Department! I promise to always be a good friend to all of you! I have many family memebers who are either retired officers, or deceased officers or active duty. That’s why my heart belongs to Police Officers because of how much it runs in my family! I will always be there for you guys and gals!

Just so every knows, Police department and fire department and EMT/​paramedics are all the same in Sunnvale. They are trained all in one, which is the worst possible system ever. No on wants to be a police officer when they get to do a cool job like saving people and being the «good guy» as a firefighter. But who wants to be the «bad guy» and take police reports and pull people over and piss them off, especially not the Sunnyvale PD, they don’t do anything. They never enforce the law!!! They get paid over $ 300,000 a year!!! OMG!!! NOT COOL!!! they need to be seperate departments, come on, this is Silicon Valley, Mayer needs to stop being so cheap and give more money to the city to allow seperate departments for people who want to be cops, and people who want to be firemen seperately, no wonder they get the tazor and gun mixed up, which person am i today, a police officer or a fireman, i can’t remember, ooops, i shot someone, bc i forgot which job i was doing today.

Love them. Been a resident of this city since 2007 and have called on them a few times for suspicious vehicles roaming around.
One of their officers came to our neighborhood and gave a talk so we could start a Neighborhood Watch Program.
We had a block party when the kids were still small (now some of them are out of high school), and a fire engine came by one year. They LOVED that!!!
I’ve been pulled over for doing a California roll at a 4-​way stop w/​a warning a couple of blocks from home –oh the shame… the officer was polite and explained why he pulled me over (I very well knew why: busted). ~:#o
I appreciate everything that the officers/​firefighters do, that they put their lives on the line every day. Thank you to them and to everyone who works at DPS!
Oh, and to all of those people that are kvetching about the «bad cops», can you imagine the s— that they have to deal with, day in, and day out (except for people who don’t stop at intersections –cough-​)??? If you could do better even after a week in their shoes I’d love to see it!!!

Officer Sult helped me in a situation in Sept 2013, and yesterday I went to pick up the report. The receptionist was super helpful. I knew the date of the report only approximately, and she did searches to come up with the exact date. There was nobody in the waiting area (well, it was pouring rain) and the police officers who walked by while I was waiting for the receptionist to find the record were all very friendly. The location of the Police Department is convenient, with plenty of parking. All in all, in my dealings with the Sunnyvale PD, I have been satisfied with both what was done and how it was done. Truly these folks care about protecting and helping city residents and customers of city businesses.

It’s 3am and I am wide awake. Just another night in sunnyvale. I have lost count of the number of nights I have been awaken and lost sleep because of blaring sirens in the night. Seriously, did all five patrol cars need to converge on one spot with their sirens blaring? Obviously these ‘hard working professionals’ do not give a chit if anyone ever gets a good nights sleep in this town.

Someone stole my registration sticker. I fact I found out about by getting a fix-​it ticket for missing my registration sticker which I now needed to get signed off. I went to the Sunnyvale Dept of Public Safety at about 11am on the 4^th of July to do this and was told that there would be a $ 50 fee to do this but I could get around that by going elsewhere or flagging an officer down in a parking lot and having it done that way. I proceeded to wait in the parking lot for one to show up for about 30 minutes.
I have been a Public Safety Officer in Michigan and a dispatcher for over 10 years so I know that this whole ticket sign off process takes about 5 minutes.
A Sunnyvale Supervisor showed up at about 11:30 (I’m guessing 4^th of July lunchtime at the Station) and told me that I needed to call inside to get this done. When I told him that I had done this and was told that I could flag an officer down in a parking lot and avoid this $ 50 fee, he told me that this rule only applies to OTHER parking lots but that he’d be happy to go find out what the *resident* fee was for me (and then I could sit around and wait some more for some other officer to come help me??). I told him to forget it and that I’d go find help somewhere else.
Preferably a police department officer who doesn’t mind taking 5 freaking minutes out of his precious time to do his job.
And as I was leaving? About 5 more patrol cars pulled into the station. Yup, 4^th of July lunchtime. Sorry I tried to bother you Mr Supervisor!

I came here to find a police officer to sign off on a fix-​it ticket. The receptionist told me to wait an hour (for 2 people ahead of me) and wanted to charge me $ 40 for a signature. On top of that, she was rude and acted as if I should be familiar with their protocol. For all that, I would’ve rather just paid the actual fine.
I went to the CHP office instead, waited 30 seconds and paid $ 0. And the police officer was much more pleasant.

I was pretty displeased that it took over an hour to receive a print-​out of a police report. I understand that things take time, but we received quite a bit of attitude for not having filled out a form when we approached the counter (we called ahead and were not told of any such form) and then ever more attitude when in the «fill it yourself» spot for the kind of report we were looking for that we didn’t specify it correctly…
After 50 minutes of radio silence from them, my husband stood up to check on the status and the woman very loudly says «I’m working on it!» in a rude tone.
I would just have hoped for a little more kindness. It was a very rude way to start the morning especially since we were very patient with them and didn’t address the matter in a mean or rude way.

Was here for a class, great looking PD, super friendly employees, great staff, and nice area to work in…

Sunnyvale PD Demonstrates Terrible Driving Safety at School Crossing
Walking to school this morning, we were at the crosswalk with a total of 5 students and two adults, specifically, the intersection on Inverness near Stocklmeir School. While one driver waited safely for the school kids to cross, the Sunnyvale PD Officer in the SUPERVISOR vehicle behind the waiting driver, chose to pass the car at the crosswalk, and drove around the waiting vehicle. The Supervisor blew through the yellow school crosswalk barely missing the crossing students.
*There were No Flashing lights, No Sirens, apparently just an impatient supervisor.
This blatant example of unsafe driving on the part of our local Police Dept Supervisor is reprehensible. The PD has routinely overlooked the safety of this School Walkway.
We no longer have a crossing guard, ostensibly b/​c the Dept of Public Safety thinks think this intersection is safe. With such poor driving skills demonstrated by the supervisor, it is clear that it is Not as Safe as it Should Be.
Frankly, the driving safety skills deserve only *ONE* star; I’m giving two stars, because Sunnyvale PD does not appear to be as corrupt as Oakland’s PD, for example.
Nevertheless, this example of poor driving skills needs to be remedied – if it were a citizen, they would get a ticket, a warning or be sent to driving refresher course. Maybe it’s time for the PD to do the same, in order the ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN when they Walk To School.

A lawyer returns to his parked BMW to find the headlights broken and considerable damage. There’s no sign of the offending vehicle but he’s relieved to see that there’s a note stuck under the windshield wiper.
«Sorry. I just backed into your Beemer. The witnesses who saw the accident are nodding and smiling at me because they think I’m leaving my name, address and other particulars. But I’m not.»
I don’t know about you, but I almost always get a chuckle out of lawyer jokes. Traffic accidents in real life are another story. Have you ever been involved in a really serious one? I was, just this past Thursday night. To quote W.C. Fields: «All things considered, I’d rather be in Philadelphia».
Unfortunately, I wasn’t in Philadelphia, I was driving North on Central Expressway in rush-​hour traffic when the car in front of me slowed down suddenly and came to a stop. I stopped too, as did the pick-​up truck behind me. That should have given the iPhone-​obsessed airhead barreling along behind us pause, but it didn’t — I guess the text she was writing and/​or the Twilight: Breaking Dawn clip she was watching was really compelling…
So the brainless idiot with the iPhone glued to her hand continues to roar along the expressway, and smashes into the pickup truck that was stopped behind me. The driver of that vehicle told me afterwards he’s always driven trucks, and he’s lucky that’s the case — if he’d been in a car like mine, he wouldn’t be talking to anyone — as it was, the iPhone obsessed idiot’s car totally collapsed the entire bed of his truck, and forced his vehicle forward into my car hard enough to take out most of my back-​end, and still had enough force left over to push me into the first car in line, and take out his rear-​bumper for good measure.
Enter the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. I called 911 on my cell after I staggered out of the crumpled tin can that used to be my car, and two officers arrived on the scene within minutes. They were calm, helpful, professional, and handled de-​briefing the four of us with speed and diplomacy. They even managed to get the iPhone obsessed airhead to stop texting long enough to tell them her version of what happened without either applying or threatening deadly force — they were totally polite and professional with her, even though I think a couple of good jolts from a taser would have done her a world of good…
When the three totaled cars were driven off on their respective tow trucks, the officers supervised the final cleanup of the accident scene, and one of them even gave me a lift to a near-​by Starbucks.
In conclusion, I learned three things Thursday night:
1) The officers of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety are hard working, caring, dedicated professionals and we’re lucky to have them serving the community.
2) Idiots who pay more attention to their smart phones then to the road they’re driving on should lose their driver’s licenses, after first being water-​boarded by Newt Gingrich for several days while listening to George W. Bush read selected passages from his upcoming best-​seller: «How an Idiot can become Leader of the Free World».
3) The car insurances companies are happy to collect the license, registration, insurance, and contact information for all the drivers involved in an accident from the Police Report, and so it isn’t necessary to try and scrawl it all down yourself on the back of an old candy bar wrapper. My insurance company verified this after-​the-​fact; another good reason to call the Police when you’re involved in an accident.

If you have to perform child car seat installation verification, I do not recommend relying on the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
I made an appointment with them for car seat verification. They scheduled me 3 weeks out and when the day came, they left me a voicemail 2 hours before I was supposed to go there, saying that they could not see me and that they will move the appointment to the following week. Getting close to the due date, but … what can I do. The following week I take time off work and get there, only to be told by a clerk who looked and sounded like he did not care that «the appointment is simply canceled» and that it’s my business to call them again to schedule a new appointment. Not even an automatic rescheduling to the following week. Not even wanting to schedule the appointment himself — no other people were in the waiting room (!!).
Especially for child car seat installation verification, when people depend on them, and make appointments more than a month in advance, they are unreliable, no redundancy, no real effort to work things out, and (hopefully just an impression) not really seeming to care too much. The intentions may be good, but execution and support are significantly lacking.

Excluding my recent visit to the Sunnyvale Police Dept, I wanted to give 5 stars to the two separate desk duty officers who helped me file a report with them regarding a situation I was put in.
First officer worked with me two yrs ago and had no problems with me whenever I wanted to update my report meaning to «add on» to my existing report. I was making sure that I was on top of everything and the officer told me so that I was and complimented me for it. This officer helped me so much I appreciated all the help I received. Thank You.
Then, something new came up Fall 2008 so I went back down to the Sunnyvale Police Dept in hopes of speaking to the first officer, but because the person wasn’t in when I had gone down and at the time my tot was just too little to come back the second time so I requested to speak to different desk duty officer. I explained to the officer #2 and was told that I had the right to «add on» any new information to my existing report. The officer had no problem with fulfilling my needs and wanted to Thank You also.
With my situation I understand that Sunnyvale Police Dept can only do so much for me and nothing else, but all I ask is to let me «add on» any new piece of information I get to my existing report. In my opinion, I don’t think I’m asking too much as long as I’m staying on top of things, which I have been doing.
My recent visit to the Sunnyvale Police Dept didn’t go so well as I expected. Perhaps, I was just experiencing a personality conflict or maybe it was just that the officer #3 was annoyed that they specifically had to deal with similar cases as mine ALL day long and to officer #3 the person just felt what I was doing at the station was «pointless» or «useless» as the officer #3 kept stating to me and I even got interrupted by their personal phone call saying, «Hey sweetie. Yeah. been dealing with the same cases ALL day long» and could tell how annoyed this individual was too with me sitting at their desk wasting their time obviously. To me, I felt this was just beyond unprofessional ESPECIALLY if the officer #3 was still on the job! I kept telling the officer #3 that ALL I wanted was to update my existing police report. That’s it and simple as that. To me, the officer #3 didn’t want to do anything at first, but I kept pushing and pushing to where the officer finally gave in after what it seem like hours and said that they’ll «add it on» AFTER the officer #3 asked the person up front if one was allowed to do that? and I heard the person up front say, «Yes, one can „add on“ to their existing report,» which I felt relieved hearing those words, but I was still fed up with this rude individual. The only thing I’ve been worried about this ordeal with having to deal with an individual like this is that one might do a sloppy job updating my Police report because people (some) like this don’t really care — period. It’s actually frightening. My previous 2 reports were perfect and was perfectly handled by two professional officers.
On top of all of this, I was told by the same officer #3 that if I had stayed on top of things this new situation wouldn’t have occurred. But the thing was, I won’t know until someone makes a move. That’s the whole point. Because I originally left the station feeling VERY unsatisfied, frustrated and VERY upset!!!, which happens in life sometimes. There’s always have to be that 1 person (bad apple) who has to ruin things for others. Oh, and if anyone is curious, Officer #3 had a very close resemblenace to the Actor, Adam Baldwin and it’s only fair that I post a link so others can compare in the office just for kicks. Rofl
To me — review is a review — so I thought of updating my personal experience with the Sunnyvale Public Safety office. Excluding my last visit as I stated at the beginning of my review, I’m still giving 5 stars, which also includes the staff who works at front, the Administration dept (I called on 10÷22÷09 to ask a question. Yeah, by accident I chose the wrong option, but even still the lady who picked up was very nice to me and helped me out) and lastly, the 5 stars also includes the officers who patrols our streets here in Sunnyvale (feel very secure).
