Ordered Ghee roast, Pongal and Poori. Enjoyed Ghee roast and Pongal, Poori was slighlty oily otherwise the food tasted good.

Yummy but spicy. Liked spring dosa. It has nice masala taste inside. Idly was also hot and tasty. Ambiance is great. And mainly found out it as hygienic place unlike others.

Food is excellent here. Come if you like spicy and if you don’t come anyway and ask for less spice they will accommodate you. Ordered: dal makhani which was delicious. Roti is delicious and paneer dosa is amazing. Décor is great and service is friendly although it could be a tab more organized. Overall a good experience. They have parking behind the restaurant too.

The South Indian meals was ok. The sambhar and rasam weren’t spiced and salted enough. The rice quantity was less as well. The papad was like chapathi :). May not be my choice to frequent.

I just had festival lunch and wanted to write quick review so atleast few people can save money. We went there around 1:15 and sat at table around 1:40. Plate(banana leaf) and water was put in next 5 min and after that for every piece of meal i had to request are you going to serve or not. Items were decreaesed and we had only 7 items for $ 20. When asked server where are the rest i hear they are over and no sorry. Lame service. I asked for papad 3 times but no response. If you are the owner and if you get chance to read this message try to improve your service and not over charge customers for no piece. I provided my feedback to few servers and they just laughed with no sense of guilty. Coming to food taste its curries are of no flavour. If you want feel my experience goto this place on any south indian festival and let your wallet wash.

Wish there was a zero Star for this review. I could have finished my exam at this time. They are taking so much long to just place our order. Service is pathetic and abominably loathing waiters who don’t even care about their customers. If you are planning to come here, make sure you eat before at home.

Terrible service ! They don’t get you water till you are almost done with meals and they start thinking about tips. No sugar or spoons with coffee either — you go hunting through the place looking for sugar on other tables. Nobody awaits at the reception so you go about looking for someone to give you seat. Their sambar varies from being child friendly mild to crazy hot!(I wish I hadn’t left 20 percent tip– the service deserved w zero)! Their filter coffee tasted burnt — no amount of added sugar worked! Mini tiffin felt stale. Oh and my little girl slipped on floor near the entrance(there was water on the floor) — I let 2 waiters know about it — they just shrugged and carried on. Good luck to old folks visiting this place — it’s a health hazard. Deducting another star for this!

I’ve been to Sangeetha three different times(no, you don’t need to PM me the Einstein quote) at the behest of coworkers who wanted to try it. I’ll let you skip the detailed review below if you want, and just say it’s always disappointing in both flavor and service. Done deal. If you want to torture yourself with the details, be my guest … Visit 1: We went to lunch during a «dosa fest», which means they only serve dosas that day and make 40 or so types of dosas especially for the occasion. I tried three different ones, and they were all underwhelming in flavor. Even worse was the lackadaisical service and unkempt waiters. Visit 2: Got dragged in by a friend who was starving and craving Indian. Tried both south Indian and north Indian dishes. The dosas were equally bad as the first time. The north Indian dish we got was something like Paneer Tikka Masala(don’t remember the name) and had more flavor, but was very watery and hard to eat because there were only 4 – 5 pieces of paneer in 1.5 cups of watery sauce. Same lame service as before. Visit 3: They told us they were closing in 15 minutes and the only thing we could order was the plain dosa. We walked out. Bottom line, go to Madras Café if you’re craving south Indian, and Amber if you’re craving north. Don’t bother with Sangeetha.

Cannot handle early morning breakfast, too slow. Restaurant is cold, saving money on heat, I guess. Wait for Togo is painful

The one star is for their HORRIBLESERVICE! Food is good, but the service is the worst! The RUNNERS are CLUELESS and serve food someone ordered to your table, or give your order to someone else. Lets be realistic, I know people will not stop going here just because I or anyone else gives a bad review. The owner knows that and will not bother training employees in providing good(forget great…) customer service. I could not believe that the owner instead of apologizing for the big mix up and making us wait for an hour for our to-go order, just tells us that ‘the mistakes are not intentional you know’! Really!!! Of course I know no one does it intentionally, but you have to make effort to improve if more than one person has said something bad about your service!!! Just be aware of this and go in only if you are REALLY craving for good south Indian food. Don’t be surprised if your food comes cold to your table… it might have travelled thru other tables in the restaurant! :D

There was a time when Sangeetha was really good. Unfortunately, it has slipped so badly that the food there has become almost inedible. I am writing this review after two visits to sangeetha spread over two months. We ordered dosa and thayir vada along with meals. The sambhar and vathakuzhombu were burnt. The thayir vada was so bad we couldn’t take more than a taste. The cooks should be ashamed of serving people such bad food.

Very unpredictable service & food. It can be really good or leave you disheartened. Used to be a regular customer but avoid now after insipid responses from servers. Their dosa batter is awesome, best for making dosas at home. Unfortunately the chef has forgotten /is replaced & cant make Bisibelebath. Used to be fantastic once upon a time. Now it is just veggies added to plain dal rice. Ordered it a couple of Sundays before & had to send it back. Bland in all ways. Had to convince the chef that I knew my spices! Waitress dint bother taking it back until I asked her to do do again… I think servers must be educated about food & ingredients before just diving in… Quantity of curries served in southie thali is enough for kids. Have to keep pestering servers for more. North thali has improved in all tastes! Parantha & kurma is good too. Overall its a 50⁄50 probability.

Very good food and service. Loved the South Indian thali, ghee dosa, mini tiffan and filter coffee. Very clean, great décor and the owners seem to have paid great attention to details setting this restaurant up. The service was also fast. Will definitely be going back more often now that I found this place

It turns out that when I ordered a dosa waffle via Caviar, I mistakenly received a dessert dosa waffle. Sangeetha’s owner messaged me about the mistake and arranged for a savory dosa waffle to be delivered to my home. I appreciated that the owner took the time and effort to fix the issue. I did prefer the savory dosa waffle over the dessert version. As described in their online menu, the dosa waffle came with 4 small containers of curry — a mild channa masala, a slightly spicy buttery masala, a medium spicy yogurt based curry, and a spicy, oily red sauce that tasted a bit like Indian pickles. I liked all the curries except the red one. The waffle itself looked like it had been made in a Belgian waffle maker and was pleasantly tangy with a slightly crisp exterior and a thick, soft interior. It went very well with the curries, especially the channa masala.

Fairly large place with quick service and good South Indian food. This is more like the famous Sarvana Bhavan — very expat friendly place — but a bit more trendy. Ordered chilly, tomato uttapam and it was well done and packed with real green chilies. Gave my sinuses a good workout. The chutneys were fresh and sambar was authentic and piping hot. The place is popular so I suspect they make their ingredients fresh every day. Ordered their sambar vada(deep fried lentil-donuts) dipped in sambar as a starter. Vada could have been a bit softer/less lumpy. Bit underwhelmed by their salty lassi. I am giving up ordering salty lassi at a non-Punjabi restaurant — never had good luck with them in a non-Punjabi place. Tip: stay with mango lassi as it’s tough to screw that up.

Three stars given to this restaurant is for a reason and that is very slow somewhat mismanaged service. The indifferent attitude of owner on reporting how terrible it was says it all. Had to remind them several times to get our order. Portion size is little considering what others in Bay Area offers. I dont mind paying the prices they charge If I had got at least decent service. Food– try the Mysore masala dosa and rava dosa. Podi dosa not so much . Ambience– yeah ok and doesn’t look stuffy like other curry houses. Service– awful so don’t have high hopes.

I’m quite regular at Sangeetha. Very authentic and delicious south indian food. Ambiance is great too. We love mini tiffin, which comes with a mini dosa, idli, wada, upma/pongal and a sweet. Filter coffee and dosas are also great. Everything is always fresh and we’ve never been disappointed. On wednesdays, to save water, they are serving in disposable plates. These plates are of a bit low quality and spoils the fun though.

I visited with my friend from work looking for an experience to remember. Well… that is what we received, albeit we’ll probably not come back. The food was good, the service was nice, but a few negative things we noted are as follows: 1) The chairs are super slippery. There is something on the legs or some wax on the floor that made sitting a little uncomfortable. I got the feeling that if I sneezed, I’d slide backwards a foot or two. It was distracting to say the least. 2) We were served on paper plates WTF? Where’s the steel? The metal knives and forks? I understand there is a drought in California right now, so maybe they think they are doing their part by not having to wash dishes after, but the amount of water used to produce a single paper plate is about 8 gallons. Ten plates uses 80 gallons.(google it for yourself) Not to mention the impact on the landfill to dispose of all of these one-time-use plates. They are sadly misinformed. 3) There were no knives given, which made eating a dosa a bit of an adventure not to mention, a little messy. Especially with the slippery floors and the lightweight paper plate. Every time I tore a piece off, my chair slid a few inches to the left. On the plus side, there were a few things of note: The dosa was nice and crispy, the masala was seasoned well and just spicy enough to be exciting, and the chutneys were well done. Oh, yes and the water glass was metal like normal. Overall, the experience *was* memorable, but not in a good way. I wish them the best of luck.

We came by for a Sunday brunch. We’ve been to a few south Indian restaurants and I’m familiar with the original chain back in India. Oddly enough a lot of the discerning aspects of the chain were missing from this one. The dosa was cold coming out and the service was lackluster. The rest of the spread was simply not up to par. The only saving grace was that the place is well appointed and the filter coffee was pretty good. In sum, the experience was disappointing having known what the chain is capable of.
