Super fast, efficient, organized, clean, professional, very helpful and friendly! ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would seek this place out again! Just needed a smog check, and they hooked it up in 10 minutes flat with friendly banter and some tips on Cali reg for my car.
They get all my thumbs up!!!

Friendly and welcomig service, reasonable price. Quong made my visit a pleasant experience. I also like their office/​waiting area with a fish tank and mini waterfalls.

My car was recently stolen, and when I was told by my insurance I could choose the shop to do my repairs, I immediately asked for Ivy & Truman. After how wonderfully I was treated and how quickly and efficiently my car was repaired the first time, I was optimistic the staff would deliver again. And they did.
Having fathers as mechanics, I know to always do a test drive, before completely leaving after major repairs, and when I noticed a very small thing that wasn’t right, Quang immediately took it back and fixed him up, and didn’t charge me anything more.
I have referred friends, or anyone I hear looking for a mechanic. Quang and the staff do a wonderful job, and are so kind and helpful while doing it.

I noticed a flat tire today so I quickly Unilocaled the closest auto shop nearby and lo and behold, they were basically right across the street from my new place!
They helped me right away and the owner, I believe was genuinely kind and very polite. There ended up being a nail in my tire and he fixed it quickly so that I could be on my way to school. I could have gotten it done really fast at a lot of places, but out of all the car shops I have been to, he was the only one that seemed happy to be there! His mood was so uplifting and he seemed to really love his job, and when customers see that you love your job, they want to come back!
I appreciate how refreshing my experience today was and I will absolutely be back if I have any other car problems.

My neighborhood yahoo group recommended Ivy & Truman Automotive so when I needed help with my 92 year old friend’s car I went to see if they could help me. I had tried to fix the antenna with help from another friend but was not successful. I thought the motor was broken. Quang had a look at it, realized it was just disconnected, assembled the new antenna and did not charge for his time. That was so nice and my friend was so grateful. I would recommend this place mainly because I saw how thoughtful Quang was and he fixed the problem!

Very happy with the work done on the car, i was not pushed any parts or service, but the car needed a lot of work. Price was fair and would recommend to anyone skeptic of car repair shops.
On a good note: I mentioned that I would have to eat ramen for a month, and before I could finish the sentence; they heat up some for me out of the goodness of their hearts.

I trust Quang with my car. He’s got AMAZING customer service skills and he’s very accommodating. And honest. He won’t hard sell you on anything you don’t truly need for your car. I called him this morning to make an appointment for an oil change and he told me to come on in. They finished my oil change in under 30 min. He’s hilarious! I would never go anywhere else!

Come here all the time and every time he takes my car in at anytime of day and willing to get things done. He knows what he is doing and has a lot of confidence. I like coming here and will continue to come here.

The Vietnamese owner goes above and beyond.
I came in for a smog check, and the Indian person
at the counter took my information right away.
A minute later the Vietnamese owner came out
and started the smog check. It took what felt
like 10 minutes. He also inflated all my tires for me
because he noticed they were a little low. That’ll
save me money in gas efficiency not to mention
saving me the time of doing it myself.
Both he and the Indian worker were very friendly.
When he (the owner) came out he asked how
old my son was and said he’s a nice looking boy
and talked to him in a friendly way. The Indian
worker also played with my son.
The owner even offered (insisted) as I drove
away that he would throw away some trash that
was on my dashboard and did so. I left feeling
happy because of their friendliness and
promptness and extra service.

I am so happy about this shop! I’ve been here three times and will keep coming back for:
— honesty
— low prices
— fast service
— friendly staff
They get five stars for all of the above. I wish I could add more stars. On my last visit:
— I dropped my car off in the morning and they gave me a ride to work as they weren’t fully busy yet
— I got a very good price on a new starter, the reason I brought the car in (it seemed expensive to me at first, but after searching around I learned I might have paid hundreds more $ elsewhere)
— They replaced a severed windshield washer fluid line for no charge (a previous mechanic quoted me $ 75 to do this)
— The manager, Quang, explained what was wrong with the starter and also informed me of some other recommended services, as well as their relative urgency, but without being pushy
After I picked up my car and paid, I went to buy some lunch and realized my wallet was missing. In a bit of a panic, I drove back to the shop and searched around the lobby for it. Then two mechanics came out to help search my car, and one found it wedged between the passenger seat and the door. When he told me he found it, he was grinning and sounded excited, as if he was genuinely happy to have helped another person. And I think his attitude sums up this whole shop pretty well.

Really?! How is this guy getting such high ratings? He’s a total rip off and I know that thru having personally experience him trying to take me for an idiot years ago when I went in for a simple oil change (my 2^nd one with him) and he said I needed over $ 1000 worth of work done on my van. Rack n pinion crap he tried to pull off. Which didn’t work.
Now turns out my aunt took her Toyota Corolla in to him for a quick oil change only to have him tell her she needed $ 400 worth of stuff done to her car. Not being the sharpest tool in the shed and as an older Asian woman, she got taken in by him. Now I find out that it’s the same shady mechanic that tried to rip me off years ago!
Consumers BEWARE! Ivy and Truman are as unethical as they get. This guy tries to hide behind the façade that he’s a family guy by naming the shop after his kids, a line he feeds everyone by ripping off little old senior women. Shame on you!

This is 2 reviews in 1. Today, getting ready to drive to work. That’s odd, the car is really pulling to the right. Right tire is low, very low. Baby it back home. In the process of filling it up, I discover the valve stem is leaking. Drive it to Quang’s, they take care of it right away, and I was only 45 min late for work.
Memorial Day this spring. My son had a hockey tournament in Carlsbad. 2 days before, my wife’s tire goes flat. Dang. I could probably fix it myself, but that’s a lot of driving to trust to a DIY fix. So the morning of when we leave, the Thurs before Memorial Day, I take it in, and they fix it, lickety split. We drive down there, back and forth to Riverside, and back here, and the tire is fine.
I did have one problem with with this place with a wheel/​tire on my Mustang about a year ago, but they were extremely honest and forthright in owning up to it, and making it right.
I really trust this place, and they are extremely quick and professional about the work that they do.

This is not the first second or third time they have screwed up on my oil change
I have always used synthetic oil been coming here for years the last 4 oil changes have gone so wrong
First time asked did you do synthetic oil yes but it says regular oil no the mechanic said synthetic was used
Second time had to call back and ask synthetic yes
Third time I made sure to say please synthetic yes yes they said well guess what
Third time same story I don’t know why we wee coming back but Quong is a nice guy know his family nice family
This time same thing but they drained the regular oil and put the synthetic oil in
Don’t go there they might put water in your oil

They bent over backwards to help us with an urgent need to repair our car for travel. Not only was the price reasonable, the service and level of concern was akin to that of a friend. I’d highly recommend them to anyone.

Quang is the man! Having my car repaired at this place totally changed the way how I look at auto repair shops. He really explains thoroughly why they need to do something before working on your vehicle. He gives good recommendations, he also tries to find alternatives on how to repair the vehicle so you can stay around your budget. Got my brakes, rotors, dashboard and AC repaired. So far it has been great! Glad to finally find someone you can trust.

Very nice folks. Prices are ok too. Have got 2 major itemd done here and things went well.

I had to get my smog checked for the first time, cuz I’m 25 and 25 year olds have to do this kind of thing. But all smog places look real sketch/​creepy when you have never been to one before! So I scoped Unilocal reviews and printed out a coupon for sunnyvale smog and end ended up here by mistake!
The 2 businesses share a drive way and it was blocked so I couldn’t get to the place I had originally planned, well it worked out got the best! I backed my little sweet car up and ended up and Ivy and Truman’s! I double checked their Unilocal reviews and found the discount! I went in and the nice gent gave me one price, but I showed him the $ 25.75 Unilocal thing and he have me that price!!! Such a deal!!!
I was in and out in 20 mins with a passed smog check #winning! I would 100% come back to this place and 100% recommend it #realgems

After that initial smog test a couple years ago, we started bringing our cars to Ivy and Truman for regular service. Their prices are very good and as far as I can tell, their workmanship is excellent, in that I have not experienced any problems with our cars since Quang and his team took over the care of our cars. I had to get new brakes for my nearly 15-​year-​old Toyota, and the performance is great. Like any good automotive technician, he inspects the car and recommends service that should eventually be done, but he doesn’t try to sell it as an immediate and critical need.
We’ll continue to take our cars there for service. Now that they’re out of warranty, there’s no need to pay the high prices at the dealership.
