My favorite spot in Sunnyside! They have amazing coffee($ 1.50 for large iced), and the authentic Italian food is delicious. The staff is super friendly and community oriented. Always laughing and friends with whoever enters. Great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks!

The food as always is great as well as the service and the ambience. We come here at least twice a month and always have a hard a time deciding because we know everything will be fantastic. Tonight we had the specials. The grilled octopus with mashed potatoes and arugula. The octopus was perfectly grilled. We also had pappardelle with lamb ragu. It was so good and rich. The Nutella mouse was the perfect ending. Also their Soleluna cocktail is perfect for the summer libation. The selections of wine are also well thought out. And everyone working there are just so friendly and welcoming.

Neighborhood gem for brunch and dinner. Structured menu with delicious italian offerings, lamb chops and ribeye steak are must– try specials! Unassuming place which delivers from start to finish… with great staff and business owners.

Came here for brunch and had good service and good food. We got the puccina emilia — flat bread with a drizzle of olive oil, prosciutto arugula and mozzarella, so yummy and a pasta dish. Would definitely come back again.

I came back here for brunch, and the first thing I noticed was the menu, they changed it up. They no longer have omelettes, the one item I wanted, when I requested if they could make one the staff member said he could not because omelettes are messy to make. Ten minutes later the staff member was on break and was eating an omelette. They also raised the prices, which was brought to my attention by my sibling. Here’s the deal thou, Im a huge fan of brunch, many places I’ve gone to are always willing to accommodate my food allergies, and they’re great about it hence I go back. I understand that not all places can be accommodating, but no need to rub it in my face! Will not be coming back.

I went in Roma few months ago and that place made me travel back there! The owner and staff members are amazing. Food is great as well(I’m french so imagine how hard is to compliment an italian place… hahahaha) love it! I got the ribeye, well made! I’ll come back!

portions are huge. staff is super friendly. theres a good wine selection & a cute place for date night. i split the mussels appetizer with my friend. bread was warm and crisp. mussels were good. its not really an italian neighborhood so i didnt expect much. got the spaghetti with clams cuz i need a little meat in my food. wayyyyy too much pasta. friend got the mushroom gnocci which wasnt bad but was super cheesy. solution? take some of the spaghetti and dip it in the gnocci sauce. worked out ok. so there was a bit of a flavor balance issue but overall, we like the place. menu needs maybe a wider selection of entrees though. maybe some classic dishes with chicken. we need our protein! but likely, we’ll be back… i hear theres an oyster happy hour.

This review is for oyster Night(Mondays) and a bit of brunch. I love this place. I’ve been here 5 – 6 times for brunch and took the opportunity to stop in yesterday night for a post V-day dinner. Their brunch menu is pretty straight forward. Everything is delicious(soleluna burger is my favorite!!). Here’s my dilemma with the place; 1. They always run out of burgers during brunch by 2pm. I’ve been told they are made to order(which is great) but the restaurant is really starting to pick up traffic. It’s better to have extras to satisfy a customer than to leave a customer upset. I’ve missed out on a few burgers because I came in at 1:50 — 2:30. I’ve come back because the restaurant is a few blocks from home but for others you only have one time to leave a good impression. This place is really good and deserves a second chance by all those who are not loving their first impression. 2. The brunch potato ratio. Some reviews on here are right. The potatoes in my opinion are counted for each platter. I’ve done brunch a couple of times and left hungry or wanting more. I always count 4 – 5 potatoes. Maybe 6 – 7 next time? 3. Okay, this is where I felt I had to leave a review. After visiting last night for dinner, I realized the potential this place has. But first, the oyster RED sauce HASTOGO. I ordered a dozen oysters(not the best oysters I had but they were 1.25 each, so what the heck) and they arrived with lime and a REDSAUCE. I’ve had a few oysters in my time. I was expecting cocktail sauce or something. It was according to my taste buds MARINARASAUCE with tobacco. I felt like I was eating oysters with pizza sauce NOT pleasing at all. I had a plan to order about two dozens but after that I said no way. The sauce totally over powered the fresh taste and left a pizza after taste. It was just not a good combination. I looked around to see if I was the only one taken back but I wasn’t. The table to my left left all the oysters with pizza sauce untouched. Now, I still love this place. I will still go back but oyster night let me down. The red sauce let me down. I hope the owners read this and revamp the sauce or just buy cocktail sauce by the gallons. I almost wanted to request a sauce to be made just for me but I felt bad. The service was amazing. My partner and I enjoyed a bottle of wine and had a pleasant night. We just couldn’t get over the sauce. It didn’t ruin the night but it was certainly a topic we talked about for a few hours. «I can’t believe they gave us marinara sauce for oysters.» Hope this was helpful. This is a great restaurant but it’s time they pick up and realize more people are stopping by because this place is amazing!!!

Sunnyside was in need of some good Italian, so glad SoleLuna has opened. Dazies is overpriced and old fashioned, and Venturo is of course good, but SoleLuna fills a different role, offering a more rustic and authentic menu of FRESH ingredients. What is better than walking into a family run business with friendly faces and kids hanging out in the back, heading out just in time for the dinner rush. Awesome. Fave beans with baby kale small plate – amazing. And the seafood special last night(shrimp, scallop, calamari skewers) was spot on and fresh. And since it was our anniversary, we may have gotten two bottles of wine, still feeling like it was an incredible value and experience for our celebration. Hoping to achieve regular status!

I’ve had this place bookmarked for some time now and finally got a chance to round the gang up and visit on a Sunday morning for some brunch. Its conveniently located by the 7 train so it makes it a hot spot for commuters. There was ample parking on the street as well. So far so good. We get inside and were seating and it took about 7 mins for someone to approach us with menu and water. 3 staff members worked a full restaurant hence the delay. The menu is the one of the most limited and expensive menu for brunches that I’ve seen in Queens and maybe even Manhattan. The price for food ratio is way off. Repeat: WAYOFF. We got there before 12PM Sunday so we had to wait until 12PM to start ordering alcoholic beverages, which is fine. We all got coffee and they don’t have unlimited coffee but they do foam and warm the milk which is good(approximately $ 3−4/cup). Once noon came around, we all ordered our drinks and I decided to try their pomegranate caipirinha. The drink arrived like effort was used in making it. Upon tasting it — feeling was gone. The drink had a weird tangy NOT sweet taste, not sour taste either. It was just overall very weird tasting. Kind of like a blend of Robitussin with some OJ and some form of alcohol; it was just all wrong. I chose not to say anything about it because I didn’t want to order another drink and have the same experience. My two girlfriends that were with me had their SoleLuna special drink, they seem to enjoy it. It looked very presentable. On to the food part: like I mentioned earlier, their menu is very limited. I think its partially because they are a grab and go coffee house but turned brunch. Anyway, they had the following items(synopsis) on their menu: pancakes, 3 options of poached eggs, bagels, muffins, burger and salad. They didn’t offer any waffles, french toast, etc. We each ordered a poached egg dish($ 12.50/plate) and the menu stated that it came with home fries and salad. We also got an order of pancakes to share. When we got our dishes we were stunned. Why stunned? Because they were tiny! Each order of the poached egg came with 2 eggs(obviously) and one small slice of bread dressed. I specifically got their smoked salmon and my other friends got the pesto one. ONESLICEOFBREADWITHONESLICEOFSALMON, 4PIECESOFCUBEDHOMEFRIES, 6PIECESOFLEAVESFOR A SALAD!!! Wait for this, the pancake(s) came with ONESLICE! AND!!! It was the same thickness as two crepes sandwiched together!!! That cost us $ 8.50! Again, the only beef I have with this place is the price to food ratio! Everything was very tasty so if you’re down with inflated prices then this is the joint for you. WEALLLEFTHUNGRY! We went to Aubergine Café right afterwards. Stay tuned for my next post for that place. Anyway, I would love to come back to this place because their food is probably 4⁄5 stars but I can’t justify it due to the little bit of food offered.

Came here for brunch, originally intending to go to a different location. I always recognize the corner spot as the old coffee shop that previously sat there and never really gave it notice as a result. But we went in and it was brightly lit with more space in the back for bigger groups. They were able to seat us quickly. I noticed the extensive bar in the front if you’re looking to enjoy some wine, coffee or other alcoholic drinks midday. The prices average $ 10, but portions are smaller than your typical brunch place. Considering the staff seem to originally be from Italy, I would denote that to the European style to not overindulge. For me, I don’t eat a lot so the portions were just right. I ordered the poached egg basil pesto: toasted bread coated with tomato sauce, two poached eggs and a dab of basil pesto on each. A small portion of salad and home fries was served on the side. And they also served us a plate of bread with oil. I really enjoyed the lightness to the dish and recommend it. One of my eggs was overcooked just a bit, but the other egg was perfectly poached and had the runny yolk when I cut into it. I would’ve been disappointed if both weren’t runny. Their coffee(came with foam) and other caffeinated drinks were pretty authentic to the Italian vibe. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Didn’t feel any rush to leave — that’s big for me. We tried the lemon tart dessert, which was decent but could’ve gone without. The powdered sugar made it a bit sweet for me. Overall, I’d go back to try the dinner!

A cozy Italian restaurant with an amazing bar. The only knock about the this place is that the tables are a little too scrunched together. It was difficult for me to get up out of my seat without bumping into the person behind me. Each customer starts off with a side order of bread and olive oil. The Spaghetti Alle Vongole was delicious, the pasta was al dente and the white wine sauce with manila clams was so flavorsome. Very fresh! The employees hear are very friendly and hospitable, the waitresses were very charming and they’re very polite when asking if we needed anything. Overall great place to take your date or to have a drink. Try not to bring a large group of people as it’ll be difficult to seat everyone because of the size of the restaurant.

Boozy brunch with a glass of wine and went with the hangover burger! Super worth! What better way to start off 2016 than with a Hangover Burger to symbolize the turn ups to come of 2016! Just kidding, lets be healthy! This place has great food and the owner is from Italy and brings the vibe right into the doorsteps of this venue. This addition to sunnyside has made it a more classy block of shops. It was always tempting to enter passing by this place, but was worried about overpriced food when there are so many cheaper areas in sunnyside, however pricing isn’t TOO bad. It is a bit pricy, but it is definitely worth the visit. Recommended for brunch on a day off !

SoleLuna is a great local addition to Sunnyside. Located on Queens Blvd and 40th St, this small & quaint café packs a mighty punch with fresh ingredients, a unique flavor profile and a friendly environment. Their customer service surly isn’t lacking, extremely attentive and hospitable. I was looking for somewhere unique with great food to take my aunt who was visiting from Europe, and of course I wanted to make an impression being a New York foodie. We arrived at the beginning of brunch time, and were seated promptly. Their single page brunch menu had 13 different items to choose from. I decided to go with The Hangover Burger(Daily fresh ground beef with mozzarella, champignon mushroom, egg, potato and salad $ 12.50). My aunt and Mom both went with the Sole Luna Burger(Daily fresh ground beef with mozzarella, mustard, caramelized red onion and tomato, with potatoes and salad $ 10.50). We all enjoyed our meal very much. The burgers were all cooked perfectly and hit the spot. I especially liked their coffee and they get super brownie points for having vanilla soy milk; my first brunch spot with soy milk. I was very impressed and it tasted even better than my daily Starbucks. All in all a great spot in Queens, I’ll definitely be a repeat customer to check out their dinner menu.

Very European/Italian style kind of deal. Small, but lovely and spacious in the sense you don’t feel cramped. After a night out in the area I needed a pick me up to get me going on the hot summer day. I got a regular iced coffee. They put in the milk already so just be sure to instruct what you’d like. I forgot to put my own sugar in the drink before leaving, but, their coffee is good enough to drink without it in my opinion. If you go to Italy you’ll see mostly similar bars to this. Yes, bars. You don’t really sit at these kinds of bars but enjoy your espresso at the counter and maybe a croissant and then dash. In the afternoon/evening you may go back for a spritzer. Being that this place is more restaurant-style there is space to sit and order actual food. And if i’m not mistaken, also a stocked bar.

So so so glad this place turned out to be everything I was hoping for. I live a stones throw away and knowing I can cross the street for delicious well price food in a nice environment with a nice staff is definitely a plus. I forget I’m down the street from my house when I eat here. Nice ambience, intimate quiet low key. You can tell the staff cares and are more than willing to help you with any questions. One actually ran out of the restaurant one day when we left our sunglasses behind. Obviously the draw here is the food. I’m obsessed with their pastas. I want to try every single one and then eat them all over again. The ravioli with pears and cheese is just so refreshing and different. I’ll tell you now if your partner orders the lasagna you will find yourself with your fork in their plate. Very welcome addition and the fact that it is always packed says something. Bravo.

I came here for lunch on a weekday and I was shocked how packed it was. I took a sit and decided to go with the Amelia flatbread(prosciutto, mozzarella and tomato) also I got a glass of wine. I have to say I wasn’t impressed with my flatbread and it was missing something. Even the wine wasn’t all that great. I think I have to go back and check out the dinner menu.
