We are so thankful to have been referred to Dr. Gheorghe and Dr. Camelia Ganea to be our pediatrician when our baby arrived. We lived in the Morningside Heights neighborhood and their location is only 2 minute walk from us. This is especially important for a weak and recovering new mom because babies need a number of regular checkups in their first month.
Dr. Gheorghe is very experienced and knowledgeable, and very patient to hear out and respond thoroughly to our concerns and questions every time we visit. Dr. Camelia is a cheerful and very kind lady and also very professional. Both of them are extremely nice and approachable.
Our baby was under-​nutritious in his first month because he was breastfeeding only and my wife’s breast milk was not sufficient for his growth. We blindly insisted on breastfeeding only hoping that breast milk supply will catch up later. But it did not and we almost put him at the risk of undernourishment. Dr. Gheorghe patiently explored many approaches based on preference on breastfeeding, and gave us options and analyzed the pros and cons very thoroughly. Having such professional advice my wife and I were able to finally make a sensible decision and our baby was happy again and gaining weight properly. Throughout our baby’s first months we were feeling very secure because we have them as our pediatricians. If we did not have to leave the country due to work arrangements, we would definitely continue to see them.
We loved the spirit that emanates from this wonderful couple every time they handle our baby, whether regular checkups, vaccination, etc. We can feel the care, love and kindness that as new parents we could learn so much from.
We are also very fond of the front desk lady Sabrina and the nurse. They treat us and our baby with such kindness and good cheer every time that it was always enjoyable to see them.
If you live in the morningside heights and especially if you are a Columbia student or staff waiting for your baby to come to this world, Dr. Gheorghe and Dr. Camelia are definitely the people to go to.

Our son has been a patient of Dr. Gheorghe Ganea (in his UWS office across from St. Luke’s Hospital on Amsterdam) for a few years and he is the best pediatrician we’ve ever had. Dr. Gheorghe and his office staff are friendly, knowledgeable and love what they do. Our son used to be terrified of having his blood pressure taken, but the assistant worked her magic and he’s no longer afraid. Dr. Gheorghe always listens to our concerns when our son is sick and has called us in the evenings before to answer questions or check on our son. He refers us to specialists when needed, but each time we’ve gone to a specialist, they recommend the same treatment that Dr. Gheorghe has advised. We trust him completely. When we go, our son likes to pretend he’s the doctor and Dr. Gheorghe takes time to let him check his eyes, ears, weigh Snoopy, etc. We highly recommend him.

This place is run by a couple, Dr. George Ganea and Dr. Camellia Ganea. Dr. George is very busy, but thorough and precise. Dr. Camellia is sincere, cheerful and sympathetic. I think that the place is very decent and good place to reply on. I have 2 kids going here. The place is always packed; so, be ready to wait if you want to visit especially on Saturdays.
