Have tried this place for about two months now, at least once a week, great food great friendly service. No one is exempt from making a mistake and when they did one time they more than made up for it.

A+++++!! This place was called in for our holiday party, and OMG! The best tacos I have ever had! The homemade tortillas, the flavor of the asada, all of it was amazing! I would highly recommend them. I plan on using them for parties in the future. Don’t miss out on this gem!

This place is near by and I love going in when I am craving some Mexican food
The portions are big, for example the burritos are definitely to share. I wish it didn’t have as much rice in it as it does.
The nachos– first time I got them they were amazing. Loaded with cheese sour cream avacado on top but the second time I was dissapointed, it came with a little cheese no avocados and beef! I never asked for beef so why is it coming with beef suddenly?
The price range is definitely not under $ 10 per person for us. It is more on the expensive side for the hit and miss food
Overall — 3⁄5 for miscommunication and mistakes with the food orders.

First time here so this is a preliminary review. I ordered chile relleno/​rice/​beans. Wife ordered albondigas soup. Relleno was best in the area and beans were great. Rice was so-​so. Soup was just ok but came with plenty of thick, hot, home made and delicious tortillas. Place appears authentic but a little pricey. Parking is fine, atmosphere is simple and noisy. May go here again to try other items. Would recommend it for you’re in the area.

Love the tacos here. The asada and al pastor tacos are my favs, but I haven’t really had anything I didn’t like here. Price is super cheap too! Only drawbacks are it takes a little time to get your order, but totally worth it.

Burritos and tacos and ceviche oh my… all of my favs shared with a good friend. The burrito loco comes with 3 different kinds of meat, lettuce, rice, beans and cheese. We got 2 meats, chicken and carne aside, asked for light rice and the burrito still humongous! …but it was really tasty tho! They also have a hot sauce and avocado sauce to use at your table. Both good!
Ceviche was yummy, with the right balance of lime and plenty of chop up shrimp. Carne Asada tacos were tasty also. really tasty meat. I really wanted to order the nachos, I saw someone else order them and they looked sooooo good, but I could not eat another bite. I was full for hours after that meal. next time, it’s nachos for me!
Service was cook and the people at the counter were very friendly. Thumbs up PENAS TACOS! You making good stuff over there!

Wow! I am so impressed! The food is amazing, not heavy! The service is great and the prices are fantastic! We were also entered into a raffle for a beautiful prize, so I also feel appreciated. This is my new favorite place!

Some solid burritos and tacos here (solid meaning good quality, not solid like a brick). Burritos have a very good mixture of your selected protein (shrimp being my favorite), rice and veggies. The place is clean, roomy and parking is ample and the people behind the counter are always friendly. I will be a frequent visitor to this place and probably try some other items on the menu.

Oh Penas…
As a food truck one of the best and now a sit down restaurant. This is one of those places that makes you feel spoiled when you eat.
Carnitas nachos — Wow, just wow.
Ceviche Tostada — You will find yourself eating a few of these most likely. Very fresh very crunchy tostada.
TORTA — The main attraction. The melted cheese on this has a unique flavor that is unmatched. Great with carnitas which is perhaps their best meat, very crispy and full of flavor.
Tacos — This is what started me on Penas as a taco truck and it will never fail to please. Their green sauce is drinkable by the shot.
Overall great Mexican top notch food and an amazingly friendly staff treating you like guests at their home.

By far PENAS TACOS gets 5 starts. I know I don’t stand alone when I say the food at PENAS is the best in the area. I would like to take time out of this review to thank each and every person behind the counter that make it happen. If it wasn’t from the smiles behind the counter, The cook taking control of the kitchen when they have a line out the door and the phone ringing off the hook he just keeps that food coming each plate with the same great taste, To the BIG BOSS who over sees and has designed a menu whit just enough to choose from, there are a few more in the back of the kitchen, But most of we can’t forget the one who you’ll see come from the back of the kitchen with her apron on THE WOMEN IN CHARGE. Thank you for such great food keep it up.

Pena’s is consistently amazing. The albondigas is fantastic. The meats are all good that I’ve had but the birria is something you can’t get elsewhere– beef stewed in a tomato sauce and spices– and is something special. Asada also great. The tortillas are made fresh. The tortas are full of amazing flavors and textures, melted cheese and fresh veggies. Presentation of the food is more than you get at your standard taco shop and the ambiance keeps improving. This place deserves its reputation.
The hot sauce is the only drawback. Not much variety and not to my personal taste. But the food is so flavorful you don’t need it anyway.

I was skeptical at first but after my first bite I was in love. The ceviche is incredible and everything else I have tried there has not been disappointing at all. I am now a whole hearted fan and have a hard time not going there everyday. Except Monday… Their closed Monday’s.

One of my top favorite restaurants in the Sunland/​Tujunga area. Best customer service, especially Arturo he’s the sweetest man ever. If your in a hurry you can call and pick up & it’s ready in 10 minutes. Used to always come here on my lunch breaks.
The Chicken Torta is my favorite from here. It’s one of the best I’ve ever tried.
