The food is great for Sumter, SC. However if you’re from a metropolis such as Chicago, NY, LA, Dallas, Seattle etc., it’s really not that great. It is the best place in Sumter, but that’s not saying much.

I have had so many pleasurable experiences here! From date night to girl night… perfection. The drink menu is always fresh and changing and the food is so good.

Great food! The closet thing to a 5 star restaurant in Sumter. I got the scallops and a pumpkin seed salad with goat cheese. Yum! Service is another story. Basically it was meh. We got our drinks after the food. Other than that nice spot.

Hailed by many in town as one of the best places bar none to dine… eh. It is okay, just okay. The inside is nice and there is a pretty decent selection of foods but at the same time a good selection off the dinner menu is about 40 dollars. The food is decent but definitely not worth the hype. This is a place you go to say you went there to impress people more than anything else. I saw on someone else’s review that they suggested J O’Grady’s. I second that. Go down the street and get far better food for half the price and have fun!

Great food, casual atmosphere and wonderful service made this an exceptional experience. Rachel was well versed in the menu and made good recommendations. I’ll come back next time I’m in town!

I had a great time at the Hamptons with my husband. The food was really great. The diver scallops were to die for and the shrimp and corn chowder my husband ordered was the best I’ve had. The service was good as well.

If you can finish an dry tasteless lunch on a single glass of iced tea, this is your place. We chose Hamptons based on the Unilocal reviews and I’m wondering if they are under new management because as a business traveller who eats all of his weekly meals in restaurants this was a massive disappointment. Our order was wrong, our drinks were not refilled. Dessert was served without utensils and the food was both tasteless and un-filling. Word of advice J OGrady’s downtown has fantastic service. I’m not sure how many times I will have to return to Sumter on business, but I know how many times I will eat at Hamptons.

Hampton’s restaurant once again shines as the finest upscale restaurant in the greater Pee Dee area. You will have to go Charleston or Charlotte to find a finer meal. Every dish I have had here was incredibly prepared, with the sides perfectly complimenting the entrée. On my most recent visit, I had the Grouper, which was cooked wonderfully, but it was the sides which really made the dish. The Basmati rice was mixed with kale and delicious winter vegetables, a mixture that perfectly captured the season. Paired with a glass of Cakebread Chardonnay, I enjoyed each and every bite. We will be back, and hopefully soon.

We had the pleasure to eat at Hampton’s in Sumter tonight. We are traveling through and didn’t find anything that sounded appealing in Manning. To start, we had the black bean soup, tuna tartar, and the scallops, all were very good. For our entrée, we had the duck breast, ravioli(freshly made today by the chef) and the filet minion, we enjoyed each of our dishes and left nothing on the plates. For the desert, you have to try the crème brûlée and the bread pudding. We had a delightful evening and would return for a repeat dining experience.

Hamptons is a delightful, elegant, yet unpretentious restaurant in downtown Sumter. A growing and revitalizing downtown community in South Carolina. Parking is easy or you can walk to this restaurant easily from downtown communities. The menu was extensive and the selection and recipes reminded me of great cooking throughout Europe. The staff is well trained and know the menu and specials of the day. The wine and menu selection is excellent. The atmosphere is casual, but can also be a romantic dinner for two location. Highly recommend the Oysters appetizer. Wine list is extensive. Great place to meet friends or have a lovely romantic evening.

Great service, great food — my wife and I each had the duck. Excellent recommendation for a wine based on our taste. Best restaurant in Sumter.

Upscale yet casual. Excellent service, knowledgeable sommelier, fresh local ingredients in season. That being said the Foie gras from the Hudson Valley rivals that of the French. When I first ate here a few years ago I thought the entrees were a bit heavy but since then I’ve come to appreciate them as creative with a wonderful blending of flavors. One should arrive hungry as one is sure to be well satisfied!

Terrific restaurant. Ate our Christmas Eve dinner there. Their menu was fabulous. I had the salmon with mussels and scallops. My wife had a huge, pecan crusted pork chop with sweet potato mash. Awesome! The ambiance was great and the staff was friendly. Will definitely return.

Gorgeous décor and a lovely patio area(even the bathrooms are luxe)…and in Sumter, SC?! The food was absolutely on point… just the right amount of food to satisfy and please the palate. A smidge pricey for Sumter but I’ll forgive it since they use all local produce. So pleased to find this little gem! Will definitely be back when I’m in the area.

A surprisingly sophisticated gem tucked away in deep South Carolina. The sauces were of particular note — sumptuous, satisfying, and nuance. Reminded me of the best of France! I had the pork chop dinner and brie salad. My dinner mates enjoyed the steak. Each of us was equally pleased with our meals. Like most upscale restaurants, Hampton’s dinner portion sizes are small-ish so don’t skip lunch!

I haven’t been in Sumpter to long, but I kept hearing about this place. It is likely the best restaurant in the city. I had the duck with broccoli rabe and a mushroom risotto. The entire thing was fantastic. The wait staff was well informed and very friendly with no shortfalls. This place also has an alley where patrons can enjoy their meals outdoors while sitting by a large fireplace. I will definitely be returning to Hampton’s.

The Hamptons has a great lunch menu and their sweet potato chips are amazing!(I am not even a fan a sweet potatoes and I liked them.) Their lunch menu is also very affordable! Dinner is a little bit more on the pricey side, but the customer service is great.

We had dinner for four of us tonight at Hamptons at 7PM. Two of our friends from the Washington, D.C. area were part of our party. Everyone of us enjoyed our meal, our server, and the restaurant ambiance. The restaurant and bar seemed to be about 70% full. I had the corn chowder and shrimp soup appetizer, which was very good. The main tenderloin of beef entrée was enjoyable. I was most pleased with the peanut butter and chocolate mousse in «hockey puck» style form. «All in», with a $ 50 tip, we were at $ 306. One bottle of Cade Sauvignon Blanc jacked the tab up $ 44. But it was enjoyable. Can recommend as the most known and appreciated, white table cloth, «special dinner occasion» restaurant in Sumter.(They do also serve a much lower cost lunch.)

One of the Sumter’s best dining experiences and recently named one of the top 100 in the US by Open Table, Hampton’s has a rotating menu, local ingredients, fresh made breads and pasta, a great bar and decadent deserts. Don’t let other reviews undersell this local gem that would be considered a great restaurant in any-sized community. The bottom line? Portions are ample and so is the check– but understand that although prices are higher, so is the quality. Great chefs, a helpful and knowledgable staff, occasional live music and ambience to spare make this a «must try» if you’re in town for a visit or the long haul.
