My girlfriend bought an onramp gift certificate for me and I finally got to use it this October. From what I understand, the onramp class has been redone and I’m not exactly sure how it’s changed. If you’re trying to figure out what the onramp class is, you’re not alone, I was as well. Basically it’s a four week class, three days a week, mornings or evenings. They teach you basic mobility and moves that you will use while doing crossfit. They don’t teach you every single thing, but they teach you enough so that you shouldn’t be able to hurt yourself down the road since it’s all related. My class included two other guys and the coach, who is also one of the owners. We met each morning at 6am and trained for about 30 minutes, then had a workout of the day(WOD) and then foam rolling/discussion on food, health, etc. I’m not really sure what else to say about the class other than I learned a lot and felt mostly prepared for the big leagues(regular WOD’s). If you’re thinking about doing crossfit, you will need to do an onramp course of some sort. I think most places require one in some form. I felt this was a very solid start and a friendly way to get involved. As far as crossfit in general, I think it’s an amazing way to get healthy, get fit, get stronger, gain confidence, meet people and look/feel better! Crossfit isn’t cheap, but it’s nothing like any gym I’ve ever paid to be at and I don’t think I can ever go back to that way of life. One of the bigger things I’ve already gained form crossfit is confidence. Every day I get done and I feel a little better about myself and what I can achieve. It didn’t take me long to figure this out and as I work my ass off to get better results at the gym, I’m also thinking about how I can be better at life. So yeah, this place rules. The owners rule, the people rule, it’s all good! If you’re thinking this might be for you, give them a call, find out when the next WOD is going down and go try it out. I’m fairly positive that they will let you come down and get sweaty once, for free to try it out and while it will probably kill you, I think i tmight get you hooked as well. Give it a shot! PS I saw the good for kids button below and yes, there is a small area for kids so they can hang while you work out. They also have bathrooms and a shower :)
