S-L Painting

We had a horrible experience with this company. We hired George and his team for a strictly interior job on our turn of the century townhouse located in Summit: 2 bedrooms, built in 1905. The overall job took four months to complete — and this was no complicated venture. It involved all of the rooms the same color, with trim — nothing fancy. This is also after we struck a much needed sunporch touch up from the job simply because we just wanted them out of our house by the end of the harrowing process. The biggest issue has been the bathroom. They painted and claimed it finished THREE times, and still — four days after each time — the paint began to chip and fall off the walls. They claimed (after the fact, not before) that it was due to the walls being plaster and that we would have to REPLACE THE WALLS. Which, as a homeowner, I’m sure you can imagine sounds ridiculous. You would think that with «30 years experience» in a town like Summit, laden with historic homes, this company would have cracked the code to painting a 10 square foot bathroom with plaster walls. After a week of the final job being deemed «finished» our bathroom is currently peeling again — so it seems not. We are going to have to hire another company. On top of doing a terrible job, they were inconsistent with timing — we never knew when they were going to arrive and sometimes were at our house late in the morning and well into when we were coming home from work which was a major inconvenience. They left paint dust debris all over our house along with giant primer stains all over our yard. Do not use this company — they were a waste of money after four months of «work» and the job still did not get completed. They displayed deplorable workmanship and we fully regret letting them have the job after interviewing several other companies for the job.

George has done spectacular work for us. He and his team have painted our cedar shingle house, renovated our living room, dining room incl. the fireplace, and one bedroom, refinished interior floors, and rebuilt our back porch. Excellent quality wood work.
As he completed each job, we kept hiring him to do more. A friend of ours in Chatham referred us to him, and we have not regretted it. I will hire him to do our patio and bathrooms next summer.
