Meh. My husband and I ate here after tons of people recommended it. It was fine, I suppose. Perhaps we would have had a better experience had we dined in. We got the cheesesteak — which far from being the best I’ve had in the area but still pretty good. We shared fried mushrooms — these were a let down, definitely your run of the mill frozen, bagged mushrooms that they just throw in old grease. I’m remaining optimistic seeing as so many other folks love this place. Hopefully I can update my review with a better rating once we dine in.

This place is legit! I was pleasantly surprised with the authenticity of the bread, meat quality, and sweet peppers were on point. I also ordered the Soprano Italian Sub and it was freaking huge! The cold cuts, cheese, Italian sauce and bread were very good and definitely worth the price. We lived Philly for 3 years and this place is on par if not better than a lot of places in Philly. We’ll be back.

Still a great value and taste great. I think they changed the bread, still fresh, but don’t remember it being as big or tough to bite through.

150% better than the next best cheese-steak in all of greater Charleston area. I don’t think I can praise it enough to give it justice, you just need to go have one. The deli sandwiches are underrated, the Italian sandwich is delicious. Meatball sub is my wife’s favorite too. I like that the staff I see every time i visit is the same folks & they are always friendly. Never had a bad experience & would make it a point to bring any of my friends from out of town for lunch at Phillys. It is THAT good. Would love for them to add a Chicken Parm sub to the menu as I think they would do a great job executing that sandwich if their others are any indication. The best!

Wonderful, authentic cheesesteaks! My husband and I ordered some to go and the aroma made us want to eat it on the way home! The belly buster philly is huge and is great so you can save some for later! The restaurant itself is perfect– large menu, family photos on the wall, and great customer service! Tables inside and outside. We can’t wait to go back.

Phone is always busy and the wait time is usually longer than the average restaurant. Certainly worth the wait if you are craving a delicious cheesesteak though. They could also be more generous with the cheese considering the cost. I always have to ask for extra cheese at an additional cost.

Awesome food and the best phillys around! Friendly staff and fair prices! If your a daredevil you can try and finish the belly buster! I personally advise that you try the custom cheese steak and a side order of fries, delicious!

My husband swears by this place. Says it’s the closest to a Philadelphia Cheesesteak as your going to get. I am not a Cheesesteak fan but The Soprano is awesome along with their spaghetti and lasagne. Great prices and friendly staff.

Philly’s is definitely my favorite guilty pleasure. I go here at least once a week to satisfy my philly craving. Food is always hot, fresh, and just how I ordered it and the staff is always super nice and friendly! Definitely a must if you’re in the area!

Tried a cheese steak sandwich and fried mushrooms with my hubby. Food was excellent and everything smelled great. Small place but service was pretty fast. You order in line then if eating there you take a table and the waitress will bring out your food to you. Nothing fancy but excellent food for good prices. Highly suggest it.

Coming from the Philadelphia area a solid cheesesteak is something I missed. Phillys was spot on. Their ingredients and steaks are right from the Philadelphia area brought tears to my eyes. For those of us that know you can’t get a good cheesesteak outside of the Northeast. I highly recommend grabbing a cheesesteak.

My last visit was 5 years ago, shortly before I returned to the Left Coast. Philly’s was at the top of my list of restaurants to visit upon my latest visit to the area, and it’s every bit as good as I recall. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the bellybuster 17″ sandwich will easily feed two. While not on the menu, Provolone and Pepper Jack may be substituted for American cheese on sandwiches. If you like cheese steak sandwiches, Philly’s is the place!

Food is prepared fresh so you may have to wait. Well worth the wait especially the Chicken Philly. Lunch time is always packed. Sandwiches are overflowing with meat. Best Phillycheesteak in Charleston!!!

When I moved to SC from IL in my early 20’s I was a very picky eater and hadn’t tried much of anything. That«much of anything» also included a cheesesteak sandwich. I’m sure I always skipped over it on menus b/c I wasn’t a big steak eater, and I didn’t like mushrooms or onions. While my dislike for mushrooms hasn’t wavered, and I still avoid raw onions like the plague, I’m warming up to caramelized onions and of coarse now love steak! So when I moved into my first apartment down here, the Water’s Edge, and found Philly’s right up the road, I decided to give it a go. That was many many years ago, and boy am I glad I ventured in. I ordered my first cheesesteak with bell peppers and American cheese. Hooked! The sandwich was delicious back then and still is today. Perfectly seasoned steak, fresh bread that is soft inside with a crunchy exterior. All of their side items are great from french fries to the potato salad. I’ve also had their Italian deli sandwich, excellent as well. With the Tummy Tickler specials, I can now get a steal of a deal for $ 6 since even the mini version is too big for me to eat in one sitting. So if you travel up D. Road far enough to get to Ladson Rd., make a right and pull into Philly’s. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent food, excellent service, and a corner diner feel. I don’t think you can go wrong here. The menu is expansive, yet not overwhelming. The food feels authentic and home cooked. You don’t get the fast frozen flash microwaved sensation that comes with some chain restaurants. Do yourself a favor, if you’re hungry(why else would you read this?) and give this place a go!
