Came into the restaurant for dinner at about 8:20pm. Nobody was standing out front to greet us but someone came out to have us seated. We took a seat and ordered drinks first. Once drinks got to us, our waitress took out order. For a party of 3, ordering an omelette, a breakfast sandwich, and eggs with a side of bacon, I did not expect to have to wait nearly a half-hour for our food. The waitress came out to apologize for the wait after we had waited for 15 minutes and then proceeded to bring our food to the table after waiting for a total of 25 – 30 minutes. She told me my omelette would be right out, as the chef had never made a garden omelette before and had to look up how to make it. We had to flag the waitress down to refill our drinks and the staff in general don’t seem to care too much about their customers, as they rarely come out onto the dining floor except to apologize for the wait. After we had received our food, we were just digging into our first bites when the waitress very promptly brought the check to us. She gave us a smile and told us «no rush», but it felt as if she was rushing us. No hurry to bring us our food but hurrying to bring us our check? I didn’t appreciate that at all. I’m sorry to say that friendliness does not make up for poor service or the long wait time for our meal– Especially considering the food was mediocre.

Went to ihop this morning. There were only four of us. We were seated immediately however our table was butted up against another… So every time someone walked by we got someone bumping the backs of our chairs. Our waitress was freaking out about having more than 4 tables at once. She made comments how she was bigger and didn’t appreciate having to run around getting drinks and bumping into everyone. She got about 5 tables seated in her section within 10 minutes… This overwhelmed her. We all had pancake platters which they messed up and all came out cold. No ketchup salt or creamer or maple syrup on the table. I had to go ask for creamer and borrow ketchup from other table and we had to pass it to another table. I had to send back pancakes completely wrong. Others in my group just ate the wrong food and didn’t want to wait on the correct thing they ordered… My over medium eggs were over easy. Glasses were filled once by another waitress. 3 other waitresses had to come rescue our section because everyone was needing something at every table. It got a little better after the others helped her but for $ 40 for 4 people it was way over priced for service and food we got… GOSOMEWHEREELSE!

So, I normally don’t eat at chain places, but in an effort to try all the restaurant in Sulphur Springs, we paid IHOP a visit. We were greeted by a friendly gal who ended up also being our waitress. My wife ordered a Belgian waffle and I ordered a chicken sandwich. The Belgian waffle was light and fluffy. The four syrups went well with it. The chicken sandwich was tasty, though lacking some freshness. It only has a chicken breast(which was very juicy), some provolone cheese, a leaf of Romaine lettuce and some tomato based sauce. It would have benefited from a fresh slice of tomato and maybe a slice of red onion. It came with seasoned fries which were nicely cooked(crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside) but they were way over seasoned to the point of being nearly inedible. So very salty. The manager came by several times to check on us as well. Prices were a little higher for what we received and we both left hungry. I wouldn’t necessarily go back unless I want pancakes or something, but the service was good and the breakfast menu is pretty vast.
