Came here for lunch and it was kind of busy but not busy enough for it to take 20 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge us and bring us a water. Food also took an extremely long amount of time. Our food was also cold when we got it.

The bar tenders were super friendly. The sampler was okay. It was chips served with salsa, guacamole, and cheese dip. The salsa was good, spicy and lots of onions; the guacamole seemed pre-made with added fresh cilantro and tomatoes. The cheese dip was the best. The chips were over cooked and too brown for my liking. We both ordered combos. I had the Oy Vey and the Memphis with sweet corn. The tacos were very bland with an abundance of lettuce and cheese. The corn was cold and overcooked. He had the Baja and the Homeboy which were better than mine. The Sangria left much to be desired. Cool atmosphere, but there are much better restaurants on the island.

After a 17 hr drive into South Carolina, and being awake for 40 hours the margs here went down all too well. The nachos were good but I would now say they’re sub par after eating the nachos at POE’s tavern just down the road. What they lacked in quality of food they made up for in quality of staff as they were all amazing and very attentive. Daina was the one. Top 5 for sure. Still a worthwhile joint for drinks!

Came here for lunch after the beach. Great ambience, food selection and drink menu. Had lots of gluten free options to their regular menu, as well as a separate GF menu you could request. Great service and food was good. Also, outdoor patio seating!

Whatever you do, get the Mexican street corn! It was fabulous. The blackened fish tacos were also delicious, along with the chips & salsa. Outdoor seating is also great. All in all, an excellent experience. I’ll always remember that delicious street corn!

We had lunch here last Saturday and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks and atmosphere. We sat outside under cover, which thankfully protected us from the tropical storm that was moving in. It was kind of cool to sit outside while it poured around us. You don’t get to do that much in Philly. :) Anyway we ordered some delicious nachos, and I ordered the enchiladas verdes with street corn, both of which I found quite flavorful. Hubby had a pick 3 taco plate and liked the fish taco the best. I really liked it here and will be back if I’m in town again. Though I will try to come earlier for lunch because by the time we left around 1:30, it was PACKED — even in the pouring rain.

My husband and I went here for the first time last week, and were so pleased, we returned yesterday. So many delightful dishes, and it’s easy to try numerous flavours — one taco at a time. My husband is Mexican & Spanish — he said the queso was the best he’d ever had, and the charros beans were pretty authentic. Apparently there is a separate vegan/gluten-free menu, which I am looking forward to checking out, but the regular menu already has enough options to make a vegetarian very happy. The drinks are also on point — I have been seduced away from my basic glass of wine or rocks drink by their Pomegranate Margarita — great balance of quality tequila with mixer & no unnecessary sugar. Wait staff is attentive, efficient, and very friendly. They even remembered us on our 2nd ever visit. Even though we live over in N Chas, we will be making this our weekly date spot!

My husband and I ate here last night for dinner. We had the worst. Service. Ever. And everything we ordered was either wrong or cold. To start our waitress finally greeted us after about 10 minutes. A couple sat down in a booth right next to us, was greeted and had water before ours even came over. Once she finally came over we ordered queso and chips, water and I got a margarita. This took a while but when the queso arrived it was not hot at all. We are not complainers so we tried to eat it. We noticed the couple next to us sent theirs back and got a steaming new queso so it wasn’t just us. My margarita was the only thing that came out right last night. Then we eat the chips so they brought us some more which took another 10 minutes to even get her attention to ask for more. The new chips we couldn’t even eat because they were so chewy and by that time the queso was cold. We told the waitress so the manager came over and gave us new chips and hot queso. At this point we were so frustrated with our waitresses lack of detail and attention. Then we ordered our food, beef brisket burrito. We both like flour tortilla instead of corn so we requested that and both ordered the same thing. I don’t like sour cream so I asked if they could replace that with a little guacamole. She said no problem. We also got a side of street corn. Our food arrived not hot at all and it took a while for it to arrive. The burritos both were corn tortillas not flour and mine had sour cream all over it. The street corn was cold too. The brisket inside was ok so we both ate that. My husband also had to continually ask for water and our waitress was never to be found. I’m not a mean person so I tipped 20% and we walked out. What we realized is that our waitress was much more interested in the tall dark and handsome waiter she was working with than to pay attention to her tables. The manager also charged us for everything even though she knew our entire meal had been messed up. We live in mount pleasant and will never be back. For any tourists reading this, there are much better restaurants to eat at in all of Charleston. Dont waste your money here.

This used to be my favorite place to grab a quick lunch and sit on the patio. After today, I won’t be back. Worst service ever. I arrived about 2PM, not a busy time. Five small groups already on the patio. The hostess escorted a couple and then me to tables on the patio. The first couple’s waiter arrived and took their drink order. I sat at my table w/my menu. The waiter came back and took their food order. I waited still. Time passes, I wait more. Another couple arrives, is seated on the patio. The waiter comes to their table and takes their drink order. Time passes, I wait more. One table of girls has a puppy that is unleashed. It roams around, they have to go get it from other people’s tables. One time, the waiter picks it up and brings it back. Multiple times, the waiter pets the dog, rubs its belly. There is no way he’s washing his hands each time he returns to the back. He’s petting the dog, bringing food out from the kitchen. This is just gross and unhealthy. Someone should report this to the health department. The first couple get their food. The couple that arrived after me, get their food order taken. I’m still waiting … for water even. The first couple is now almost done w/their food. I’m still waiting. Finally, a waiter arrives at my table and asks me if I need anything. Is he kidding me? How about I need everything. Water, silverware … food. I let him know I used to come in here all the time but not anymore. Worst service ever. My daughter, who’s a local said this place had a bad reputation and I should not go there. She’s right. I bet it’s out of business next time I’m in town. Don’t go here … Worst. Service. Ever. And the employees clearly don’t wash their hands.

This place is very good. I ordered the beef brisket taco with lettuce and sweet potato fries and it was great. I ate so much chips with the hot sauce and they were good too. The service was kind of slow. But there were lots of people there. This place is great

Easy casual food. Tacos are good and very big and full. They automatically serve them in flour tortillas but you can ask for corn flour ones instead. Mexican corn was absolutely delicious. Great little spot.

We went here for brunch on Sunday around 11, it was awesome! There was no wait and the food was fantastic! Bonus, Bloody Mary bar, mimosa and sangria for $ 3.50. Great service and atmosphere, good for kids too, we had our whole crew plus some friends and they took great care of us. Everything looked so good but I decided to go with the enchiladas Suizas, I was not disappointed. I would ask for a little more sauce next time but overall they were excellent. My kids all cleared their plates and downed 2 orders of queso dip even though it had some kind of pickled spicy okra in it. A nice touch. I got Mexican corn for a side, super yummy! It comes on the cob but you can request it off the cob.

First of all, even if you’re not a vegetarian, ask for the(«separate but equal») vegan/gluten-free menu — it has a lot of tasty options that will satisfy your hunger and possibly surprise you with their deliciousness. Everything we had here, from the refreshing margaritas to the black bean and corn salad, tasted FRESH and wonderful. We tried the strawberry and the El Vez margaritas, chips with a roasted tomato salsa, black bean taco, avocado taco and vegetable enchiladas. This is the perfect spot to relax after a demanding day at the beach.

We went in here this evening(Monday, 22nd Feb) for a margarita as it was National Margarita Day. There was one person at the bar and about 4 tables taken up in the restaurant which was surprising as it was 6:45pm already. The bartender didn’t greet us, just asked if we wanted food menus too which we replied yes. He gave us those and walked away. When he returned we asked if the pomegranate margarita was the only one not to have sour mix in it, he said yes, so we ordered two on the rocks with salt. They both arrived without salt so we asked him if he could put them in glasses with salt, he seemed annoyed. The menu says that the margarita’s are made with Sauza Silver Tequila, he poured Giro tequila in there. I asked why he hadn’t used the bottle that was on the back of the bar that said Sauza Silver Tequila and he said«Sauza makes this Giro tequila and it’s our well tequila» I said the menu doesn’t say that and he said«i’m busy, do you want to see the manager instead» and he walked away. Not the best of ways to keep people in your restaurant. No, we don’t want to see your manager, but you now have two margarita’s left on your bar where they belong with no-one drinking them. You really need a new bartender, or if he is tending both bar and four tables, you need someone to help him learn how to juggle tables and be pleasant at the same time. There are way too many restaurants in this town to be treated this way and we have chosen a different one to enjoy our margarita’s at, and it seems the rest of Sullivan’s Island and Mt Pleasant have also chosen this other restaurant as its packed to the gills!

Taco Mamacita is good if the wait at Home Team and Poe’s is too long for your liking. I’ve eaten here several times not because I was craving Mexican but because I was downright hangry. It’s typical Tex-Mex. I’ve had the appetizer sampler(chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole) and two Baja tacos. They are all standard fare — nothing too memorable. I also made the mistake of ordering their sangria special. No bueno! Stick with the margarita. Service has been pleasant both times I’ve been here. The atmosphere is cute and Taco Boy-esque. Personally I like Taco Boy ten billion times more, even though it’s gone way downhill in recent years. However, Taco Mamacita is an okay choice if you find yourself needing nourishment out on Sullivan’s Island.

We parked along the main street in Sullivan’s Island and checked out our options for lunch. Taco Mamacita seemed to have plenty of indoor, air-conditioned seating(a real plus) as well as a decent menu. We got some chips and salsa as an appetizer(they charge for this, unlike a lot of chain Mexican places); the mango salsa was too mild. We got combo platters with two tacos each. My wife liked her gyro-style taco, and we both liked the jerk veggie tacos. This was a good place to relax and escape the heat, plus it was only 3 blocks to a post-lunch walk on the beach.

The BLT shrimp taco was amazing!!! Soooooo tasty! It’s a must try! I also tried the carnitas taco but although it was tasty it was very greasy(and that I’m not a fan of) I also had a Mexican corn on the Cobb which was delicious. My husband had the BLTSHRIMPTACOSTOO and loved them but his cole slaw had no flavor. Overall the food was good and the service was great. I particularly liked the restaurants décor, it was pretty cool!

After a stressful day down at the beach catching rays, Taco Mamacita is a great place to wind down. If you’re looking for Mexican/American style food, drop by here for a good lunch. The place is pretty hard to miss considering it sits near just about every other restaurant on Sullivan’s island. It’s definitely walkable from the beach. They have a lot of seating inside and a small patio, only part of which is shaded. The barstool-type seating outside is for those who don’t have to apply sunscreen every 30 minutes like I do. We walked it at around 3 or so and sat on the patio under the shade. I asked the waitor for a pitcher of their standard margarita and he said«We don’t serve pitchers because all of the ice melts before people finish them». That sounds more like a challenge to me, and I’ll gladly prove that wrong, but it sounds like a bit of a copout. Obviously I’m not going to get into it with a waiter. We all ordered the standard margs. To be fair to Taco Mamacita, they are actually margaritas, not premade marg mix and a bit of tequila. I had two different flavors and they were both tastey, even if there was a bit too much ice in it. Being freshly made does make a difference. There were three of us dining in and we ordered after the first round of drinks. They have a nice deal where you order two tacos and a side for $ 10(I think). The tacos are stuffed full of fresh ingrediants. They definitely don’t skimp of filling them up and two or three of these will be a meal. Since three of us ordered two tacos each, there were 6 different tacos. Turns out that half of ours were mixed up and one of mine was on my brother’s plate. He ate it without even looking at what it was. Even through I had one wrong taco, I enjoyed both of mine. We all had the corn as a side and it is just perfect corn. You can’t go wrong with it. I’ll be back to Taco Mamcita again even if just for brunch before hitting the beach.

If you happen to find yourself on Sullivan’s Island and craving Mexican, then Taco Mamacita surely won’t disappoint. While I wouldn’t make the trek out to Sullivan’s just for the restaurant, Taco Mamacita is a fun spot to grab beers and tacos with friends. All of the dozen or so tacos are $ 4 each, which is a good price considering three will definitely leave you full. There are a ton of unique options besides your standard beef and chicken, such as the Loaded Gyro, Shrimp Po’Boy BLT, Sloppy Jose and Korean BBQ. The Mexican street corn for $ 2.50 is a definite must, served whole and doused in chili-lime butter and cheese. I also recommend splitting an order of the Memphis Nachos for the table, which are topped with a dangerously good melty cheese sauce, shredded pork and BBQ sauce. Must-order items: Memphis Nachos Mexican Street Corn Baja Fish Taco Caribbean Jerk Taco
